The ideal vacation home

We spent two weeks at the beautiful Casa Berti in early/mid-April. Sometimes we still had to heat, but that was no problem with the fireplace and, if needed, the air conditioning. We had wonderful days with a great view, and in the evenings there were already fireflies in the olive grove! Pure romance.
The house is super equipped and not only has what you need, but that certain something! Everything is in good condition and well maintained. The excellently equipped kitchen is worth mentioning. Conclusion: the ideal holiday home!

For couples, a great vacation, but with children, one should think carefully about it.

We spent two great weeks in Tuscany this summer. However, the location of the house was only partially suitable for our children. It is built in the olive grove and everything is very steep. The outdoor shower was my personal highlight, it is really something special. In the house, the first nights upstairs were very hot, but it was nice to sleep when it had cooled down a bit. In general, we would advise families with children to think about it, but we would highly recommend it to couples and adventurists!

Great accommodation, pure relaxation

We really enjoyed the peaceful, dreamlike location of the house and felt really well-rested. The house is a dream and was exactly what we were looking for. We particularly loved the entire garden with the terrace, not to mention the outdoor shower. A true pleasure for all our senses. It was fantastic

It was fantastic at Casa Berti! A view of the valley - like a miniature wonderland, you can lose yourself in it. Excursions from the house to the Apuan Alps Nature Park - rocky forests, wooded cliffs, a paradise for climbing fans or daredevil mountain bikers. Magically attractive mountain villages with views and nooks to discover. Culinary delights everywhere! Or by car to the beach, to Lucca... Lots of possibilities! Tip: Pack hiking boots + poles!

The look: simply stunning

We spent a week in this beautiful and very creatively and individually designed house. We found everything here as described on the website. The view from the terrace into the valley and the mountains was simply stunning, so we always enjoyed our meals there in complete peace

The outdoor shower and the outdoor toilet are a super thing that we had our special pleasure with?

The last 2 kilometres to the village of Greppolungo were adventurous for us, as the width of the road made us wish that no one would come to meet us. However, at bulges we could easily manage the few oncoming traffic.
We parked our car above Casa Berti and walked the last 80 metres down to the house. We had therefore stowed our luggage in backpacks and were able to transport everything we needed, including food, easily. Since we were here for a hiking holiday, we always wore good shoes and took our hiking poles with us. This made it easy to walk back to the house. (We recommend good shoes in any case)

The shopping in Camaiore can also be done well on foot and with a backpack. It is a nice hike for those who like to walk.

All in all, we enjoyed the week very much.

A holiday home for all those who want to escape mass tourism but still don't want to do without it completely

We stayed at Casa Berti for 4 weeks and enjoyed it very much. It is situated in the mountains above the town of Camaiore and below the mountain village of Greppolungo. You reach it via a single-lane serpentine road, which is a bit exciting at first (very unusual for a North German) but soon becomes routine. If you are on holiday at Casa Berti, you should be good on your feet and know that there are no bread rolls to buy around the corner. But.... and that's the beauty... you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the view, you can hike in the surrounding mountains and, if you want to, you can go to the beach after a 10/15 minute drive or take the train from Lido de Camaiore station to Pisa, Lucca or other cities. I would rent the house again and again, it is just right for nature-loving people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while.

A dream with fireflies

It was just a dream! The view was mesmerizing! And when it got dark, there were fireflies everywhere! It was like a fairytale! The outdoor shower is a wonderful experience. The landlord is super nice and responds quickly. We will definitely come back and can't wait!

Craving for more

Spontaneously and at very short notice, we inquired about a stay at Casa Berti just before the carnival holidays. No problem for the friendly landlord, Mr. Ricken. Processing and information via email - all done within one evening.

So, it was just a matter of getting out of the stress and heading to Italy. Even from below, you can see the holiday home clinging to the hillside - peace and wide views are guaranteed. The winding roads for flatlanders make the approach interesting. At night, the stars and lights of Camaiore, in the early morning the sunrise over the mountains, and in the evening (from the nearby village of Greppolungo) the sunsets over the sea: intense, beautiful, and unforgettable moments.

As a person of the 21st century, one appreciates a warm fireplace at the end of February. The outdoor bathroom, almost directly in the olive grove, was already usable thanks to the sunshine! Otherwise, the beautifully furnished apartment left nothing to be desired. With the limited parking situation in the town, one has to make arrangements. We explored the nearby area on foot, went on trips to the sea and to Lucca and Pisa - for our first stay in Tuscany, we experienced a lot in a week and enjoyed every moment. Casa Berti makes you want more!

We will definitely come back.

We rented Casa Berti for a week in the autumn and were absolutely satisfied with our choice. The location and view are breathtakingly beautiful and the view of the valley from the bed makes you almost want to get up in the morning (which we normally never do...). Enjoying the food outside on the terrace and the optional outdoor hot shower to wake up are fantastic. The house is well equipped and everything worked perfectly. If it got cool in the evenings (unfortunately we had quite a bit of rain), the house can be quickly heated with the fireplace, which is super cozy. Wanderers very rarely strayed near us. It is only a hundred meters from the house to the village parking lot, but you should be sure-footed on the mule path, especially when carrying luggage up and down. All in all, a great stay, we can fully recommend Casa Berti and will definitely come back.

All alone!

As a family of four, we spent a beautiful autumn week at Casa Berti. The house is located a short half-hour drive from the highway exit, with the last few kilometers being a somewhat adventurous mountain road. In the morning, one is then woken up by the sun peeking into the bedroom over the opposite mountain ridge - and you always have the magnificent, almost airplane-like "Tuscan" view of green hills, many olive trees, and the charming small town of Camaiore. We always had breakfast on the beautiful terrace, haven't used the fireplace yet. A highlight is the outdoor morning shower. No one can see you, hot water running and the sun making the water droplets sparkle. Excursions to the endless beach of Viareggio, tours to the well-known Tuscan places, as well as hikes directly from the house, complete the program.

Wunderschöne Ausblicke

Casa Berti is a lovely little stone house nestled in an olive grove with beautiful views of the valley and the peaks of the Apuan Alps. Located in a secluded spot and spread over 3 floors, it is wonderful for larger groups to relax and unwind. Noteworthy features include an outdoor toilet and shower with valley views, as well as the easy-to-use and well-equipped kitchen. Plus, the delightful terrace. The surroundings invite you to go mountain hiking and beach bathing, and in the valley towards Candalla, you can enjoy the hot siesta time in a river valley with countless waterfalls and rock basins. Last but not least, the very pleasant and dedicated personal contact with the rental is impressive. Highly recommended! In a secluded location and with a total of 3 floors, it is also great for larger travel groups to relax and let your soul dangle. Particularly noteworthy are the outdoor toilet and shower with a view of the valley and the intuitive and well-equipped kitchen. There is also the wonderful terrace. The area invites you to go hiking and beach bathing and in the valley towards Candalla you can enjoy the hot siesta time in a river valley with countless waterfalls and rock tubs. Last but not least, the very pleasant and committed personal contact with the rental company is impressive. We recommend!

A truly unique accommodation!

We were a group of 6 adults staying at Casa Berti and had a great time! The arrival is a bit adventurous the first time as the road up to Greppolungo is a very narrow serpentine road, but it's definitely worth it once you reach the top. The house itself had everything we needed and matched the description perfectly. The highlight was definitely the outdoor pool with the same amazing view as from the terrace. You can quickly reach the beach and well-known cities such as Pisa, Lucca, or Florence from the accommodation. However, one should always plan on driving for at least 10 minutes to reach the town of Camaiore to do shopping, for example. It's rather difficult to walk unless you're looking for a good workout.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Casa Berti!

Here you can really switch off.

Great location, very accommodating and supportive landlord. Here you can really relax. The house is well furnished and the outdoor shower is phenomenal. You need to be good on foot. Parking in Greppolungo is usually full in the evenings, at least in July. Either don't drive away in the evenings or park below the house. In the hot season, I would wish for fly screens on all windows and blackout blinds in the bedroom, as well as maybe... An air conditioning unit is needed as it gets really hot at night. It would be great to use the freight elevator for arrival and departure. Luggage and provisions for 2 weeks need to be carried. Otherwise, a truly fantastic experience.

Ein Top-Ferienhaus

Top holiday home, great location if you are good on foot, which you should be in southern Tuscany. Relevant places (Lucca, Pisa, Massa . . . ) are quickly accessible. The holiday home itself is good and clean. Beds are very comfortable, dishes and cutlery are sufficiently available. The kitchen is of good quality. . . . and the outdoor shower with additional features is the ultimate highlight, with this view. It is especially beautiful when Italy becomes European champion and the whole valley is abuzz . . .

Ein wundervoller Aufenthalt

Dear Mr. Ricken, it was a wonderful stay at Casa Berti. Even though the location makes it difficult to carry luggage, it is truly fantastic. Quiet, secluded, no direct neighbors, great view, superb facilities. Maybe there is an Italian who could take over the cable car luggage service, then it would be absolutely perfect. The house is really equipped with everything you need. Here is a list that would be good for guests so they wouldn't have to bring many things since they already have them in the apartment. Traveling with light luggage

Casa Berti is perfect for a nature holiday. It's best to be good on foot. The outdoor shower has been mentioned many times and is a special feature that not only refreshes the body but especially rejuvenates the soul. In November, we had very mixed weather, but we were prepared for it. Every ray of sunshine delighted us. At 10 degrees temperature and rain, we would have liked a bit more warmth in the house besides the fireplace. We would especially like to recommend a trip to Casoli. The hike in nature, the waterfall, and the Spuntini Bar with a wonderful view are worth a visit. It is advantageous to arrive with a backpack and warm slippers in November. We absolutely agree with everything that has been written about the location, views, excursions, and facilities. We will be happy to come back.

We had a wonderful week at Casa Berti. Everything was as promised! The location is very special, as the view is fantastic and you have it all to yourself, as it is located in the middle of the olive groves without neighbors. Never seen so many fireflies before!

A very cozy spot...
In June 2019, we were here to enjoy our annual vacation. In the middle of nature, with a great distant view from the green slope into the valley, it is easy to relax. A dream...an oasis of peace and relaxation...

A dream... an oasis of peace and relaxation... cosiness and comfort... what more does one need to truly recover? We were once again able to spend a wonderful time at Casa Berti... having breakfast on the terrace in fantastic spring weather in the morning... enjoying the sun on the comfortable sun terrace in the afternoon... and in the evening, watching the flickering fire in front of the fireplace with a good glass of wine... pure relaxation for the soul. We always succeed in this lovingly restored house, combining the rustic character of a mountain hut with all the conveniences of everyday life, whether it's an espresso machine, pasta maker, or pizza oven for the chef, a hairdryer for the lady of the heart, or an internet connection. . . nothing is missing and we cannot find any negative points, no matter how small. . . we look forward to a soon reunion. Es war wunderschön

We stayed at Casa Berti for a week in March. It was beautiful. We were able to gather and cook "Wild Asparagus". It was already pleasantly warm and very sunny. Almost daily breakfast on the terrace. The house is a special gem. Top equipped and very clean. The location is great. The service and communication with the landlord is perfect. Special mention also goes to the pizza oven and the outdoor shower with a magnificent view. We highly recommend this house.

Even more beautiful than the photo!

Casa Berti is even more beautiful than the already breathtaking photos show - I was there from January to February and enjoyed every minute: The location is fantastic, high above the wide valley above Camaiore, framed by peaks and green Tuscan hills in the middle of an olive grove - you observe the movement of the sun, the mist, which drifts through the valley, birds of prey and paragliders, the vastness. . . In the bedroom (those panoramic windows! ! ) from the bed - in the living room on the cozy sofa, sitting at the large dining and work table, or from the beautiful large terrace, surrounded by tall herb bushes and kumquat trees, (where I could already sit on sunny days at this time of year) - sky, mountains, valley, always this view - wonderful! The house has been tastefully restored over many years with so much attention to originality and unique ideas, which is immediately felt - and I felt like a happy and welcome visitor. Italian dream. Nothing is missing: the kitchen is perfectly equipped, cooking is a pleasure (there are many small good vegetable delicatessens in Camaiore and the "Cantine Angeli"). great wine, olive oil, pesto, and organic products), a wide selection of bed linens, blankets, pillows, and very good beds in the upper "view bedroom"; in the cozy living room, a fireplace stove heats the house (enough firewood was stacked directly behind the house); there is a great collection of DVDs and books, games, hiking guides (there are many well-marked hiking trails), and tips for trips in the area: Lucca, Florence, Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Pisa, Montecatini, Viareggio, the sea - all easily accessible (also by bus and train in the valley) (I had a rental car with me - driving the switchbacks to/from Greppolungo is great fun and easily manageable, there is honking at blind turns, and there are plenty of passing spots). Oh, I would love to come back!

With radiant sunshine into the new year.

As often before, we spent New Year's at Casa Berti. January 1st welcomed us with brilliant sunshine, and the rest of the week continued in the same vein. Breakfast on the terrace wasn't always possible, but the sun-drenched living room was also lovely. Walks through the olive groves and outings were our main activities. In the evenings, it was usually quite cool, but the fireplace spoiled us with its flames and warmth. Overall, we had wonderful days, the house and organization were first class as always, and in the end, the statement was made: "We will come back!"

For Climbing in Tuscany

Casa Berti was the absolutely right place for us for our vacation. We were there in the second week of November, and it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, just as we had hoped for. The fact that there is no road directly to the house was great for us and not a problem at all. The road to Greppolungo was also easily passable, even with oncoming traffic. We were there for climbing and were able to reach the sectors of Greppolungo on foot from Casa. The climbing was fantastic, even the easier routes. All routes are very well equipped. During the weekdays, we were mostly alone at the rock, but on the weekends the local climbers from the area come. On the weekends, we enjoyed wonderful hikes to the surrounding peaks and into the Grotta Onda. The house itself is spacious and lovingly furnished, we felt very comfortable and slept like angels. Thanks to Thomas for allowing us to be at this wonderful place.

Novemberurlaub in Casa Berti

Beautiful landscapes are spread out over the whole of Switzerland, each one more beautiful than the last. The Matterhorn in Zermatt, the Eiger in Grindelwald, or the Aletsch Glacier - all are stunning. The lakes are so clear that you can see the bottom, and the mountains are so high you can touch the sky. This is Switzerland.

The walk is worth it every day to reach the jewel that is Casa Berti. Besides the wonderful location in the olive grove, the way to civilisation is not far. The house is very well equipped. Even the kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourself. The stove in the living area quickly generates enough heat for cosy evenings. With Wi-Fi and TV, the house is also adapted to the "modern" standard of living. All in all, the total package is 100% right for us.

A wonderful time at Casa Berti

We were allowed to spend 2 wonderful weeks from mid to late October in Casa Berti ... in complete tranquillity, in the midst of wonderful nature, including a magnificent view that you couldn't get enough of!
The weather gods were kind to us and in 14 days we only had overcast skies on 2 days ... so we were able to enjoy the beautiful terrace to the fullest on the other days when we were not out and about in the area and simply let our souls dangle. We were also able to make intensive use of the wonderful outdoor pool and tried our hand at making pizzas (!) With such a view in the evening and the kitchen equipment available, we honestly had no desire to go out to eat, that's how comfortable we felt at Casa Berti! You can feel with how much dedication and passion this gem has been restored and carefully maintained, not least by the one or the other attentive guests who also, if necessary, like to lend a hand, and be it simply watering the beds / plants during prolonged drought so that successors also find a homely Casa!
We enjoyed our time here very much and would be happy to stay here again at any time.

A place of deceleration

Casa Berti is a beautiful retreat. The house is not remote, however, but the beaches of Versiglia, the beautiful mountains of the Apuan Alps and the sights of northern Tuscany are within easy reach. But the most beautiful thing is to spend time at the house and in the surrounding area. Carmaiore is a very nice place with great shopping facilities. The most beautiful hiking trails start at the house. The house is very well equipped, tastefully renovated and furnished. Mr. Ricken answers quickly and is perfectly organised. The outdoor shower is a dream. There were two of us and we found the house ideal, but four of us will also feel comfortable and have enough space. The stairway to the house was no problem for us, but you should be aware that you have to carry your luggage down and also back up again. Unfortunately the time was too short, we will gladly come again.

Totale Glückseligkeit

One can say a lot of good things about Casa Berti, but what stands out in my memory as a special experience is: After a tiring day trip, the descent on the steep mule track - as a septuagenarian, quite a small challenge - and then sitting on the terrace with a glass of red wine and a snack, letting the gaze wander into the distance. It fills one with complete bliss. Also an extraordinary experience: sitting by the fireplace in the living room and enjoying the panoramic view in the rain. The house is cozy, comfortable, and simply pleasant to live in.

Casa Berti is located in a place where humble experiences expand into beautiful feelings. And the mule path becomes a delightful workout route!

We stayed in the beautiful holiday home Casa Berti in January and there were days like spring when you could have breakfast on the terrace in the sun. On cold days, the wood-burning stove helps to keep the house warm. The surrounding climbing rocks, which can be reached on foot, also need not fear comparison with larger areas and there is a huge selection of rocks in all directions, so that you can climb in a T-shirt even in January.

Dreamlike view!

We stayed at Casa Berti for a long weekend in mid-December. When we arrived, snow, wind and sleet awaited us, so we quickly turned on the oven and made ourselves comfortable on the sofa. The next morning we were woken up by sunshine and a bright blue sky, 10 degrees and no trace of snow except on the summit. We couldn't get enough of the panoramic view from the bedroom windows in particular. Breakfast has rarely been more fun! In the afternoon we explored the olive grove and the area on foot. Unfortunately we had so little time, but we will definitely be back!

Paradisiacal vacation

Dear Mr. Rieken,

I would like to thank you for this paradisiacal vacation that I could experience at Casa Berti at the end of October/ beginning of November.

The first contact with you and subsequent correspondence was so uncomplicated that my anticipation for this vacation began right there.

The 9-hour journey by car from Heidelberg was more than worth it. The last few kilometers to the parking lot in Greppolungo were already adventurous.

The hammer is the window in the bedroom, waking up there in the morning with the rising sun is indescribable. Every morning, I enjoyed their outdoor shower, starting the day there is better than any wellness vacation.

Summer vacation in October!

For the second time, we spent a wonderful week in the olive grove. This time in October, expecting autumn temperatures - which did not happen. On the contrary: we had over 20°C every day and, except for one exception, blue skies and sunshine. The only thing standing in the way of daily use of the sun terrace was that the weather was also perfect for hiking, and we could not resist. We have enjoyed some great tours again - guided by the good suggestions and descriptions provided by the landlords. We will be happy to come back!

Memories were not deceived.

We have been to Casa Berti a few times and once again this year (end of September to beginning of October) our memories were not disappointed! We always enjoy the breathtaking view from the terrace, and each time there are new surprises, like the pizza oven and the lovely outdoor shower toilet. We have done beautiful hikes from easy to challenging and were able to swim in the nearby sea. We took trips to Pisa and Lucca or strolled through the beautiful surrounding villages. The vacation is over and everyday life has resumed, but we only need to close our eyes for a moment and dream of Casa Berti, and the sun shines again :-) We wish this happiness and vacation feeling to all other Casa Berti visitors!

Perfekte Ferien im Olivenhain

A very tastefully and lovingly furnished small holiday home in the olive grove with a fantastic hillside location. Once arrived, sitting on the terrace, one cannot turn away from the view of the mountains and the valley. At night, you can watch the stars from the upper bedroom. Extremely positive is also the very good kitchen equipment (a shortcoming of many other holiday accommodations), so you can cook and bake really well yourself. Not recommended without a car. The small village of Camaiore in the valley is very charming. You can go hiking directly from the house, but it's also not far to Pisa or Lucca or the beach (by car). The open shower with a view of the valley is the first highlight of the day. In the evening, baking your own pizza in the outdoor oven on the terrace. We were very satisfied and well-rested, a beautiful place to relax and enjoy. You don't want to leave. . . And if there is ever a problem or a question, the owner quickly helps out.

Naturschauspiel

It has always been our dream to travel to Tuscany and we realized it at Casa Berti. The journey by plane, finding and driving the rental car, was already quite exciting. Then the drive up into the mountains and descent to the house was "pure adventure," all with a toddler! But we were rewarded daily with a beautiful view :-) The weather was changeable for us, but still beautiful "nature spectacle from the terrace!" One rainy day, we spent it cozily by the fireplace watching good movies and enjoying delicious wine. Then the sun came out :-) so we dared to take another trip to the natural beach in Viareggio, which is highly recommended. We also took small hikes through the olive groves, as far as possible with a child.

For us, it was a dream vacation, far from the media, just relaxing and enjoying nature. Also, the contact with the landlord was excellent! Thank you very much, very gladly again and have fun to all successors.

Die Lage ist einzigartig

The location of the house is fantastic. Although I have read many other reviews, the view is hard to put into words. The house and the furnishings are okay, everything has charm and fits the ambiance. Unfortunately, the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. (Refrigerator, trash can) We brought our own bedding. The way to the house is easy to manage. You should be quite good on foot. The drive to Greppolungo is already exciting with a big car, it gets tight with oncoming traffic. It's also exciting every evening, whether you will find a parking space at all. Caution - Illegally parked cars will be towed! The dog below is absolutely annoying, but the landlord is not responsible for that. But that's nitpicking at a high level because everything else was great! Would love to come back.

Berti House, Greppulungo. Tuscany, Italy.

We had heard that Tuscany was absolutely beautiful. We were not disappointed, quite the contrary, and it is even more beautiful when we have the chance to stay in this eagle's nest that is Casa Berti in Greppulungo.
Perched up there, it offers all the warmth of Tuscany during the day and a lot of coolness at night. Keeping busy visiting Tuscany and its countless attractions during the day and coming to rest there at night far from the noise. Walking in the many trails surrounding it, even bathing in some rivers which despite the July heat still offer water that is both fresh and crystalline. With Camaiore at its feet, the leaning tower of Pisa visible in the evening sunset, and the sea a little further away, Casa Berti offers you the best that Italy and Tuscany can offer: the dolce vita! Beautiful house in a great location

We stayed at Casa Berti in early June and were very satisfied. The house is situated on a hill below the small hamlet of Greppolungo and can be reached via an old mule path in a few minutes on foot from the parking lot (the path is not as bad or difficult as some describe it!). From the house, you have a beautiful view of the valley of Camaiore and the surrounding mountains of the Apuan Alps. The house and kitchen are very well equipped, nothing is missing. It is recommended to bring a mosquito net, then you can sleep comfortably and airy at night. We particularly liked:
* the beautiful hiking opportunities directly from the house, as well as the many well-described hiking suggestions provided by the landlord (on the website and printed in the house)
* the wonderful terrace with the fabulous view and the outdoor shower
* the proximity to Camaiore, where there are many restaurants, good ice cream parlors, a nice market (on Fridays), and a great fresh pasta store (tutto pasta).

Conclusion: highly recommended.

Vacation and pure relaxation

A dreamy location. . . in the middle of an olive grove, we, 2 couples, had a relaxing time in a very lovingly restored inn. . . we lacked nothing. . . the main accommodation is equipped with a great kitchen. . . Dishwasher! ! ! Gas stove, microwave, milk frother (attention to detail) . . . cozy furnished living/dining room with fireplace, TV, DVD player. . . a very comfortable bed upstairs with a fantastic view of mountains and the valley. . . It was a new, exciting experience every morning to be woken up by the rising sun :-)). The apartment below the main house has the same charm. . there too, attention to detail has been lovingly applied. . . our friends were thrilled, especially with the outdoor shower with a fabulous view. . . we could make full use of the sun terrace with a pleasant wooden floor, as we only had sun, sun, and more sun. We were by the sea in Viareggio and went swimming, explored the Strada Communale all the way to Camaiore, enjoyed delicious ice cream at the local ice cream parlor, visited Lucca and Pisa, lounged around, and could let our souls unwind in this unique hostel nestled in a beautiful landscape. Great accommodation in a fantastic location

We (a couple in our early/mid 30s without children) booked this accommodation partly because of its absolute seclusion and great views, and partly because of the amazing pictures of the house. As for the location, it did not disappoint; it is absolutely dreamy. A variety of interesting cities are easily accessible by car. The only downside is that the house is in the shade from early evening. Inside, the house has everything you need for a cozy stay. However, the "cleanliness standard" is certainly a bit in need of optimization, and an investment of 150€ in new towels and bed linen is highly recommended! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend Casa Berti to others.

Very beautiful and lovingly furnished house in an exceptional location. The newly built terrace and outdoor shower are fantastic. Communication with the landlord is excellent and very nice. The surroundings such as Pisa, Lucca, and Viareggio are easily accessible. The only thing that takes getting used to is the way to the house, but it surely prevents weight gain on vacation;). The weather also treated us very well. Daily temperatures between 21-26°C. Wonderful!!!!

Very beautiful and lovingly renovated Rustico with a fantastic view. We were particularly impressed by the outdoor bath. The facilities are almost complete (kitchen, TV, internet). Very good and timely communication with the landlord.
However, the path to the house is only suitable for people who are good on foot. And you have to get used to the single-lane serpentine road first ;-)

Paradise for sure-footed nature lovers

Casa Berti is an extraordinary holiday home located in the middle of a steep olive grove with views stretching all the way to Pisa and the sea in an ancient cultural landscape. From the parking lot in Greppolungo, you descend some steep steps and follow the old mule path in serpentines down to the old stone house, which has been renovated with modern comforts and is decorated with countless beautiful details in a tasteful and careful manner. A wonderful place for sure-footed nature lovers, whether big or small, with a taste for the extraordinary!

We especially enjoyed sunny breakfasts in the second half of November, surrounded by blooming bushes, aromatic herbs, and the unique view that looks different at any time of day and in any weather, offering magnificent photo opportunities. A very special experience was the outdoor shower with the fantastic panoramic view in warm sunshine from the front and warm water from behind in the already cold season. The view of the sky, mountains, and valley, even from the bed, make this house an unforgettable experience in any weather.

It is recommended to arrive with a backpack instead of a suitcase.

I am already dreaming of the next stay!

Dream house with panoramic view for Tuscany enthusiasts

The day in this lovingly restored Rustico begins with a unique view of the mountain scenery around Camaiore, one would prefer to stay in bed for a long time and enjoy this view in any weather. The living room and kitchen offer enough space (and the corresponding appliances) for extensive cooking sessions and cozy evenings, the furnishings are very well thought out and kept in the style of the house down to the smallest detail. The stove quickly generates sufficient heat in winter and the room climate is pleasant, so in combination with all other points one really doesn't want to go out into the wonderful nature to explore the mountains of the Apuan Alps, the beautiful town of Camaiore, or the easily accessible cities of Pisa, Lucca, and Siena.

The solitary location in the steep olive grove is wonderfully quiet and idyllic. In addition, there is a charming view of the valley. A wonderful place to relax and retreat. In autumn, the fireplace comes into its own, compensating for the lack of warm weather. Even the children enjoyed their time here and were even enthusiastic about hikes in the area. Despite the quiet location, the valley, the beach, or the aforementioned cities are easily accessible.

Another day in paradise

This is exactly what we were looking for: A holiday home in absolute seclusion with breathtaking views, a beautiful terrace, and top amenities! The outdoor shower and outdoor toilet are the icing on the cake. The path can be a bit difficult in hot weather with lots of shopping, but in return, you can enjoy the indescribable peace. In 12 days, only 4 people passed by Casa Berti, and "Eduardo," the little fox - our friend! - visited us often and gladly. Camaiore and the kitchen at Casa Berti invite you to unforgettable shopping experiences and creative cooking with fresh Italian delicacies. We will definitely come back!

Für Naturliebhaber

Casa Berti is something special. To reach this gem, one must truly take the path. 80 meters may not sound like much ;-), but they are "perceived" meters, and should not be underestimated, especially when carrying luggage or groceries. :-)))
Lido de Camaiore (beach) is easily accessible by car. Excursions to Pisa or Lucca, for example, are also easily possible and worthwhile. If you like hiking and climbing in the mountains, you are in the right place here. The possibility to buy everything fresh in the supermarket in Camaiore and also in the individual specialty stores (fish, fresh homemade pasta, meat, antipasti, etc.) is very good. We always ate very well and very deliciously. There are also good restaurants there (for those who do not like to cook themselves). The cottage is well equipped - there is actually nothing missing. A mosquito net over the bed might not be a bad idea (you could simply ventilate without getting bitten :-). It might also be worth considering installing something similar in front of the windows. Otherwise, many loving details. It is always worked on with dedication here, and you can feel it. The outdoor shower is really amazing. With the hot temperatures we had, just a quick hop under it and refresh - with a view of the valley - = fantastic. The little geckos wake up regularly for breakfast and keep us company while soaking up the first rays of sunshine. Really nice. All in all, it was a nice vacation. There was something for everyone's taste. Reading did not fall short either. We wish all future tenants an equally enjoyable stay.

A holiday destination that leaves nothing to be desired!

Besides the dreamy location in the olive grove, without direct neighbors, the way to civilization is not far. Parking is usually plentiful in the village of Geppolungo, and a bus stop is within reach. This makes it easy to get to the "free beach" of Viareggio and to the culturally interesting places of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, and Siena. Nature is experienced up close. Sometimes a fox comes by and checks out what's going on at Casa Berti. Beautiful hikes with varying levels of difficulty are possible and make the holiday a nature experience with stunning views and exciting hiking trails. The house "Casa Berti" is adapted to all demands for modern living standards. Even the internet can be tailored to the wishes of young people. We have fully recovered and would have liked to extend our three-week vacation in the olive grove to explore the surrounding area even more intensively. Simply beautiful!

One would like to stay forever

Casa Berti, dream house in a secluded location in an old olive grove. Once you have overcome the footpath to the house, you can feel comfortable all around. The house's amenities leave nothing to be desired, including detailed hiking maps of the region, you'll find everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The icing on the cake and heavily used was the outdoor shower with a magnificent view of the valley. The location of the house offers the possibility to enjoy both the beach and the sea, as well as hiking tours in the mountains and various city tours (e.g. Pisa, Lucca, Livorno). We would love to come back again if there is ever another available time slot in the booking calendar.

What more could one want...?

Hikes that start directly at the house and end in the afternoon at the most beautiful outdoor shower we have ever had the pleasure of using. Showering directly cold (really cold! - if you want. . . ), opening a cold white wine, and preparing dinner on the terrace. It's best to buy lots of fresh pasta from the fresh pasta shop in Camaiore on the first day and try everything at least once! If you are very exhausted from hiking, just briefly toss the pasta in the pan after cooking - with sage and olive oil, and everything will be fine! Take a day to get to know Camaiore and find out where the Parmesan looks the most beautiful, the tomatoes taste the best, and the coffee smells the best right at the beginning. If in the evening you read the hiking descriptions available in the house, you are perfectly prepared for all the following days - many thanks and praise to the landlord! Then suddenly gray: rain and thunderstorms! - But that's okay, because this is the only opportunity, with all the activity options around the house, to finally start the extra packed book! Those who, like us, get to experience a stormy day inside the house should consider themselves lucky: the rain hitting the roof is delightful and there is plenty to see. However, the best part is when the other quality of the outdoor shower comes into play: really hot! (Thanks to the solar collector). Rain and wind, while you stand covered under warm water. What more could one want, we asked ourselves. All questions regarding arrival-stay-departure are well organized and well described. The communication with the landlord was always smooth. We are happy to recommend Casa Berti! Ps.: We were without a car. And: That works too! To get from Camaiore to the house with luggage and shopping, we took a taxi to Greppolungo. Cost: 15€. Then ask the taxi driver for the phone number for the departure day. We were able to do smaller shopping on foot during our stay (20 minutes downhill to the general store in the Vado district).

Pure nature!

Unfortunately, we were only at Casa Berti for 4 days. On the first morning, the rain pounded on the skylight above the bed, and we turned over and relaxed. But in the following days, we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and the outdoor shower (an incredibly fantastic idea!). We also appreciated all the lovingly designed things in this beautiful house, the absolute peace, and the lovely nature all around. The only downside was the way to Greppolungo. With our fairly large car, every drive on the narrow road was an adventure. The way from the parking lot to the house also felt quite long (especially when fully loaded uphill!). The contact with the landlord was always very nice, quick, and uncomplicated.

Simply a dream

We have rarely felt as quickly at home as in this wonderful place. Dreamlike view (even while showering), peace, solitude, numerous leisure activities, beach, hikes, cities, culture. The house offers everything you could wish for, and the organization was totally uncomplicated. However, you must not be afraid of mountain drives on narrow switchbacks as a driver, nor shy away from the ascent and descent to the house, but it's definitely worth it.

Wundervoll

We had a great, sunny, and very relaxing holiday in this truly fantastic, very well-kept holiday home. The house is really amazing. The description is 100% accurate. The landlord is very accommodating and everything is well organized. If you want to enjoy a holiday away from the hustle and bustle in a romantic atmosphere, then this house is just right. A big compliment to the landlord, who was always available at short notice. However, you really need to be in good shape! Great hiking routes are available in the house information. It's a shame we couldn't walk all the routes in the 2 weeks because there are also great cities to visit. Recommended are San Gimignano, Volterra, and Cinque Terre (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore). A special experience for us was the hike to the Grotta all'onda cave. A must is the visit to the restaurant located in the neighboring village behind Casoli on the left side of the road. Even though we know that beef is unhealthy, the T-bone steak is considered an exception, my husband says :)

Unique!

Alone in nature! Pure relaxation! A house with enough sleeping places for us as a family with several children without feeling cramped. There was a lot to discover and enjoy outside. The path goes directly from the kitchen to the terrace in the herb garden, so there was always something new to enjoy while eating. Wunderschönes Ferienhaus

Casa Berti is a beautifully situated vacation home surrounded by olive groves. The perfect place to unwind. You only hear birdsong and can enjoy the peace and especially the breathtaking view from the terrace. The house is equipped with everything you need. The weather was better than expected. We only had one morning of rain. It was often cloudy, but always so mild that we could have breakfast on the terrace in the morning and only used the outdoor shower (an absolute highlight!). One should be aware that you drive up the mountain to Greppolungo in partially narrow switchbacks. The descent to the house is relatively easy to manage, but the climb to the parking lot is a bit tiring. As it got quite cold in the house in the evenings, we lit the wood stove (wood is available) and after some time, the whole house was comfortably warm.
The communication with Thomas was totally uncomplicated. He always replied quickly and gave us tips. If you enjoy hiking, you can start some routes directly from the house (descriptions are available in the house).
We can absolutely recommend the vacation home!

Eine wunderbare Zeit im Mai

May is firefly season! - that was amazing!
The house invites cooking and eating on the veranda. Camaiore provided us with delicious tomatoes and zucchini flowers at little market stalls. The local wine (Cantina Angeli) completely convinced us!

The watercourse in the neighboring Casoli is exhilarating.

Romance has never been so much fun for me as when gazing out over the city lights in the evening from the panoramic windows... If you don't want tourist crap, this is the right place for you.

Everything shows a loving touch and leaves room for own fantasies. . .

(I have planted sage, oregano, and lemon balm and hope they take root there. The rosemary bush and thyme have already adapted wonderfully to our cuisine. . . )

The flowers, the olive trees, the wildlife - everything has gladly been watched! I want to come back and actually not tell anyone about this place, it has become a place that belongs only to oneself. . .

(Sounds overdone, the brush should be even thicker. . . )

Spring in Tuscany

Silvester in Casa Berti

The turn of the year 2013/2014 in this beautiful holiday home with friends was pure enjoyment. A tastefully furnished holiday home with everything you need and in a dreamlike secluded location. Celebrating New Year's far away from the hustle and bustle in a small group. At midnight, the best view of a beautiful fireworks display over Camaiore, if you enjoy such things. On New Year's morning, having breakfast outside on the terrace in sunshine and under a brilliantly blue sky. This is how a new year can begin!

Vicinity of the holiday home: Das Ferienhaus liegt allein und direkt in einem Olivenhain (alles Hanglage!!) unterhalb von Greppolungo, einer winzigen Ortschaft

free time activities: Wanderungen, Spaziergänge, Ausflüge nach Lucca, Pisa usw., Zum Strand ist es auch nicht weit (dafür ist ein Auto aber zwingend).

shopping facilities: Einkaufen kann man in Camaiore. Supermarkt mit ähnlichem Angebot wie in Deutschland.
