We took over the new Harzbude in mid-2023. Once again, it was time to “turn everything upside down,” and it turned out to be much more work than we initially thought. In the end, the apartment was completely renovated and brought from the last century into our millennium, as we tried to implement an industrial loft style—which suited the unique layout of the apartment across several levels. In the bedroom, there is now, in addition to a beautiful 180cm wide beam bed, 2 bunk beds for children or friends. Once again, it became a cozy place; from dusty to relaxed and easygoing. A place to feel good. A place to slow down. A place to let your soul unwind without having to do without comfort.
A communal sauna is located in the basement of the residential complex.

The Harzbude is located in the direct neighbourhood of one of the largest forest national parks in Germany, the Harz National Park, in the heart of Braunlage. The cable car, town centre, spa gardens and ice rink are all within walking distance, as are ski and bike hire.

A little gem in our living room are our exchange shelves. We collected diligently among family, friends, and acquaintances and were thus able to put together a nice selection of books across all genres. When your holiday reading runs out, you simply take a book from the shelf and, if you like, leave your own behind in exchange. This way, the selection is constantly changing and remains varied. There is also a (hut-owned) selection of books thematically related to the Harz: travel and hiking guides, cookbooks, as well as one copy each of “Harzreise” and “Grimm’s Fairy Tales”.
Note: Until further notice, use of the swimming pool in the building is not possible. It is currently also not certain whether the swimming pool will return to use. The communal sauna in the basement is still available. We will therefore reimburse, upon request, the admission for 3 hours daily at the nearby indoor and leisure pool Braunlage (price with guest card without sauna, please keep proof).

Hi there! My name is Georg Staudacher and I "rediscovered" the Harz Mountains in 2016. in 2019, an acquaintance gave me the opportunity to buy this flat. The two of us then renovated and furnished the flat and decided to rent it out as a holiday flat. After all, it is otherwise empty most of the year. We were only able to start renting it out in May 2021 due to corona - but we think it was worth it and hope that you can spend some wonderful days in the Oberharz!
