Description

Experience in this unique holiday home, where farmers once delivered their freshly milked milk in cans, a place full of history and modern comfort. The loving restoration emphasizes the old building fabric without losing the original charm. This unique domicile promises an unforgettable break from everyday life.

Inside the house, three floors await you, connected by faithfully restored, small staircases that give the house its original character. These stairs are only partially suitable for people with limited mobility. The middle floor serves as a cozy living room, equipped with radio, digital satellite TV, and a pull-out double sofa that invites you to relax on rainy days. Numerous books provide additional entertainment. The kitchen on the lower level is fully equipped and well suited for self-catering; adjacent you will find the bathroom with toilet and shower. Beneath the sloped roof, you will find a cozy bedroom with a double bed measuring 2m x 2m, inviting you to relax.

The outdoor area of the holiday home is equally impressive. It is located on a 1,600 sqm property at the entrance to the village, completely enclosed with hedges and divided into several levels. Guests enjoy their own area with plenty of space, two cozy seating areas, a grill, and a large meadow for relaxing and playing. The property offers ample space for parking your car, bicycles, or canoes.

The surroundings of Sellin, a region between the Baltic Sea, Selliner Lake, and a beech forest, are a true tourist magnet, attracting visitors with a diverse range of cycling and hiking trails, its own sailing harbor, and a wealth of leisure and cultural events. Information materials about the various activities and events can be found directly in the house.

Location and surroundings of object

The Melkhus belongs to a 1600 sqm property in the entrance area of Sellin (see village map) and is easily accessible by car as well as by bus.
The property borders on the Granitz and allows a view of Lake Sellin.
It is fully fenced and offers enough space for a car parking space, bicycle storage and green areas.
The outdoor facilities also include a fireplace, garden furniture and a tumble dryer.
The Melkhus is divided into three floors, one above the other, which are connected by small staircases. On the middle floor is the living room with radio, CD player and digital satellite TV. A pull-out sofa offers the possibility of an extra bed. The kitchen and bathroom (WC and shower) are located on the lower floor. The kitchen is fully equipped and suitable for self-catering (Seran hotplates, coffee machine, toaster, fridge, kettle).

The bedroom is located in the attic and is equipped with a french bed and can be completely darkened by roller blinds.
The Melkhus has night storage heaters and can therefore be used all year round.
Because of the open stairs, the house is not suitable for crawling children and people with walking difficulties. The Baltic resort of Sellin in the south-east of the island is certainly one of the most beautiful places on Rügen, framed by the Baltic Sea, Lake Sellin and the granite forest. Sellin is part of the South-East Rügen Biosphere Reserve and is also an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding area.
The Granitz hunting lodge can be reached on foot, and the sophisticated Baltic seaside resort of Binz is 10 minutes away by car. Extensive cycle paths invite you to take tours: to the headlands of the Mönchgut, to Putbus and Lauterbach and to the Granitz. Bicycles can be rented in the village.

The Wilhelmstraße is an architectural delight in Sellin: There, historic houses built in the style of imperial spa architecture at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century line up to form a beautiful architectural ensemble. Apart from Sellin, there are piers in Binz and Göhren, which are also used as steamer landing stages for coastal shipping. The routes around the famous Rügen chalk cliffs are particularly interesting.
But also the scenic gem, the island of Hiddensee, which belongs to Rügen, is worth a day trip.
A train tour on the "Rasender Roland" narrow-gauge railway between Göhren and Putbus is also recommended.
In Putbus, with its unique classicist ensemble, there is not only the only island theatre, but also an orangery with a gallery and various museums.
In summer there are countless open-air events, the Störtebecker Festival, Theatre at the Cape, church music events and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival.
The island's most beautiful sandy beaches stretch out on Ostrügen (from Binz to Thiessow).
If the weather is bad, the Nemo leisure pool in Sellin with sauna offers an alternative.
The leisure activities are almost unlimited and possible all year round in an extremely varied natural environment.
Especially in the low season, Sellin is very popular as a health resort for outpatient bathing cures.
