The area around Kyparissia is not particularly polished for tourism. All the more beautiful stands the spacious apartment Matina 2 in a cleverly built house, surrounded by an extensive garden area. Even in the warmest weather, one lives comfortably airy due to the location, the construction style, and the shade-giving trees. The high plaster ceilings, the many bright windows and balcony doors, as well as the almost encircling terrace with a wide panoramic view of mountains and sea, are wonderful. We bathed in the nearby sea every morning and evening; the path there is shady and pleasant to walk. The impressive excavations of Messini, the dome tombs of Peristeria, and the Temple of Apollo at Bassae are easily accessible. We felt extremely comfortable in Matina 2!

The house is situated amidst olive groves in a quiet environment. Those who prefer a vacation away from tourist crowds and in peaceful nature are exactly right here. There is a five-minute footpath to the beach, where you can sometimes be all alone at certain times of the day. In the large garden of the house, there are two very friendly dogs, whom even dog-averse people need not fear. The house is shaded on the south side by tall trees, and the roof is not directly exposed to the sun; the air circulation works well with well-thought-out ventilation or closure of the blinds, so the apartment has pleasant temperatures even on very hot days. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the rooms are tastefully furnished. One lives not in a typical vacation apartment, but like in a lively home. The nearest supermarket, as well as the city, is about 1 km away. It is also possible without a car. The landlords are very friendly and accommodating. Everything was wonderful for us. We couldn't have wished for anything better. The large covered terrace is a highlight for feeling good. From there, you can see the sun set in the sea, among other things.

We spent two weeks in September enjoying our vacation in the Matina 2 holiday apartment. We can confirm everything that has been positively mentioned in the reviews so far - whether it's the equipment of the holiday apartment, the airy terrace with its unique view, or the almost private beach. Even for those afraid of dogs, it was always nice to be greeted by Max and Spock. We will especially remember our warm hosts Magda and Lakis. Another holiday stay is already planned! We visited the upper floor of the holiday home in the summer of 2016 for 2 weeks with 3 children. The special thing about the house is that it is not a "typical holiday home", but in terms of location, equipment, and maintenance, it is more like "your own home". Everything is available and in its place. Various consumables are stored in drawers and cabinets where I would store them. There are games available for children and a large TV on the balcony. The upper floor apartment has a total of 2 bedrooms (each with a double bed), a room with 2 single beds, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The house is set on a beautiful garden plot with tropical fruits, flowers, a lovingly equipped barbecue pavilion, and an extremely practical outdoor shower. The two dogs Max and Spock guard the property. The view from the gigantic balcony, which is the size of an average 2-room city apartment, is phenomenal. There is always a pleasantly cooling light breeze there. From here, you can watch the wonderful sunset in the evening or have breakfast in the morning with a view of the sea and olive trees. The beach is within walking distance (about 5 minutes). It is very beautiful and not frequented by tourists. Kyparissia is about a 15-20 minute walk away. There is a lovely weekly market there. We were warmly greeted and looked after by the owners. Upon arrival, we were given fresh olives and oil from their own plantation, honey and pastries, and a cold beer was waiting in the fridge for the driver. We were very satisfied, had a wonderful holiday, and would like to thank the "host family" once again!

We had 2 wonderful weeks at Matina 2. The apartment was equipped with everything needed for holiday everyday life. Also very clean, and in every room a balcony door with insect protection, which makes it easy to ventilate in warm temperatures. The huge balcony was our living room, with a magnificent view of the sea. The latter is within walking distance, to a small (almost private) beach. A thousand thanks to Magda and Lokis for their hospitality! Max and Spok are friendly dogs as described, who take good care of the house and guests. We think the house and its hosts are absolutely recommendable! THANK YOU!

The apartment covers the 1st floor of the house. The equipment is very extensive and leaves nothing to be desired. Plates, cutlery, glasses, knives, towels, bed linen, etc. are available in large quantities. The apartment has two bedrooms, a relatively large bathroom, a living kitchen, and a living room. In addition, there are two very large balconies, from the west side you can wonderfully watch the sunset. Everything is very clean.

Location
The house is located in a 8,000 m2 beautiful garden, mostly planted with olive trees. From the balcony, you have a great view of the sea, sunsets can be observed very well. There is a beautiful, secluded bathing bay about a 5-minute walk away. In the garden, there are two very sweet dogs who are apparently used to guests. Since we were alone in the house, the dogs gave us a pleasant sense of security.

Lakis and Magda are very lovable hosts. Their house in the olive grove, in the shade of large trees, is a cooling and quiet oasis, the terrace offers plenty of space and a magnificent view of the sunset. The bathing bay, only 300m away (!), enclosed by spectacular hollowed-out rocks, is almost a private beach in September. We really enjoyed the clear, warm, soft water without swimwear!

A very beautiful vacation apartment with a lot of private atmosphere. The very large terrace with sea view is also great (sunsets!). Everything you need and even more is available. The host Magda is extremely nice and accommodating. We really enjoyed her olives and the oil. And the two dogs are also very sweet. Where else can you find 200 m of lonely coarse-grained sandy beach with shady rock formations in the main holiday season, where a maximum of 4 parties stayed at the same time during the three weeks we were there? We were simply thrilled by the wonderfully warm sea and the wonderful, always fully shaded terrace of Matina 2, where all the life was happening, at up to 45° in the shade. This is where the special feature of the house became apparent: on the one hand, it is shaded by tall pine trees themselves, on the other hand, it has a double roof construction that shades the ceiling of the upper floor, so that the light breeze that blows almost constantly between the roof and the deck can provide cooling for the ceiling. Our initial concern about the lack of air conditioning turned out to be unfounded. Only a 5-minute walk from the house is the Apollo Resort Hotel. You can eat well there and they are also helpful if you need, for example, a larger taxi for the return trip to Kalamata or a rental car. For larger purchases, the taxi brought us home from the supermarket for 4 €. So we could largely do without a rental car. Apart from that, everything described in the other reviews is true, especially the friendliness and generosity of Magda and her husband, whom we thank very much.
