Description
Not far from the exciting lagoon landscape of Ria Formosa lies a loving house that is attuned to guests seeking peace and quiet. The Contrabaixo is named after the profession of its owner, a double bass player. This suggests that it is a particularly inspiring place to stay
You reach the secluded property via a dead-end street and stand undiminished in a well-tended garden with old pine trees, palm trees and plants typical of the country. The south-facing house stands in the middle of the grounds, protected from the only neighbour by a high wall, and on the other side there is nothing but pure nature. There are various shady and sunny corners and seating areas around the house to choose from, but the most popular is the small roof terrace, from which you have an impressive 180° view and can watch the tides in the lagoon all day.
The house is decorated in a Portuguese rustic style, with personal details and selected pictures on the walls. All rooms have several windows and allow the view of nature to flow freely. There is space for up to 5 people in three bedrooms, for which there are also two modern bathrooms. The two rear bedrooms have air conditioning units that can be used for heating and cooling and are charged extra when used.
The living room in the centre of the house and the kitchen with two outside doors offer all the comforts needed. For chilly evenings or the winter season, a powerful wood-burning stove and gas central heating are available (at cost price).
On the many mild days of the year, the outdoor shower, barbecue and summer kitchen attract you, so that you almost only have to enter the house to sleep.
Just a few metres on foot and you are in one of the most beautiful places in the Eastern Algarve. The bay of Arroteia with its colourful fishing boats is still a little insider tip. At low tide you can take long walks through the mudflats, where you can discover many birds, crabs, mussel collectors etc.. And if you cross the narrow channel at low tide, you can even take a dip in the cool Atlantic. 6 hours later, the lagoon resembles a huge lake and the water reaches all the way to the shore, inviting you to splash around. A recurring natural spectacle right on the doorstep...

Very nice!
A beautiful house, close to Fuseta. Near the lagoon, a unique opportunity to walk to a very nice and rarely visited beach at low tide. The only downside was the mosquitoes, but that may also have been due to the high humidity. All in all, highly recommended.

Foreword: Can I recommend the house?
YES, without any reservations, however, one must be aware that the nearest town, Fuseta, is about 50 minutes on foot or just under 10 minutes by car away.
In detail:
The accommodation is located in a very large and beautiful garden, the lagoon is nicely visible from the rooftop terrace, and down on the terraces, you have your own beautiful realm.
Cleanliness: The house was truly very clean, a big compliment to the service. Equipment: You can tell that the owners also vacation here (occasionally). There is cutlery, dishes, etc. available in sufficient quantity and good quality.
Arrival/Departure: The house is about 40 minutes by car from Faro airport. When we left, we informed the rental service by phone in a straightforward manner. When we arrived at the house, everything was prepared, and Jens Röver explained everything necessary to us. For departure, we agreed on a time, and Jens Röver was then punctual on-site to make the handover. Again, everything was friendly, professional, and without issues.
Distribution: The house is not brand new, not sterile-modern. It is built in Moorish style and radiates a pleasant coziness. 2 bedrooms are also on the west side, another bedroom is a passage room to the rooftop terrace. Therefore, the house is suitable for larger families or 2 couples with a maximum of 2 children in the connecting room. All bedrooms do not have air conditioning for heating and cooling, the living room does not have air conditioning; we had to light the fireplace on a cool evening, as the central heating did not seem to work.
Location: Those who need infrastructure such as restaurants, pubs, and supermarkets in the immediate vicinity are not optimally located in this house. Those looking for peace, spaciousness, relaxation, nature, beautiful views, and privacy in a stylish house will find what they seek here. A car is highly recommended.

Dreamlike location
The house is situated on a large plot with plenty of privacy. Those seeking peace and quiet will get their money's worth here: birdsong, crickets chirping and you can even hear the sea roaring.
All windows have insect screens and the kitchen is equipped with everything the hobby cook needs. A boules court invites you to play. We had to heat the fireplace on some evenings, which also warms the master bedroom and the bathroom.
We had uncomplicated contact with the two "house ladies" who made us forget our messed up arrival with a nice welcome.
The only criticism and therefore not a full score: There were two usable sun loungers. What do you do with a full occupancy of 5 people?
