Description
Not far from the exciting lagoon landscape of Ria Formosa lies a loving house that is attuned to guests seeking peace and quiet. The Contrabaixo is named after the profession of its owner, a double bass player. This suggests that it is a particularly inspiring place to stay
You reach the secluded property via a dead-end street and stand undiminished in a well-tended garden with old pine trees, palm trees and plants typical of the country. The south-facing house stands in the middle of the grounds, protected from the only neighbour by a high wall, and on the other side there is nothing but pure nature. There are various shady and sunny corners and seating areas around the house to choose from, but the most popular is the small roof terrace, from which you have an impressive 180° view and can watch the tides in the lagoon all day.
The house is decorated in a Portuguese rustic style, with personal details and selected pictures on the walls. All rooms have several windows and allow the view of nature to flow freely. There is space for up to 5 people in three bedrooms, for which there are also two modern bathrooms. The two rear bedrooms have air conditioning units that can be used for heating and cooling and are charged extra when used.
The living room in the centre of the house and the kitchen with two outside doors offer all the comforts needed. For chilly evenings or the winter season, a powerful wood-burning stove and gas central heating are available (at cost price).
On the many mild days of the year, the outdoor shower, barbecue and summer kitchen attract you, so that you almost only have to enter the house to sleep.
Just a few metres on foot and you are in one of the most beautiful places in the Eastern Algarve. The bay of Arroteia with its colourful fishing boats is still a little insider tip. At low tide you can take long walks through the mudflats, where you can discover many birds, crabs, mussel collectors etc.. And if you cross the narrow channel at low tide, you can even take a dip in the cool Atlantic. 6 hours later, the lagoon resembles a huge lake and the water reaches all the way to the shore, inviting you to splash around. Very nice!
A beautiful house, close to Fuseta. Near the lagoon, a unique opportunity to walk to a very nice and rarely visited beach at low tide. The only downside was the mosquitoes, but that may also have been due to the high humidity. All in all, highly recommended.

Foreword: Can I recommend the house?
YES, without any reservations, however, one must be aware that the nearest town, Fuseta, is about 50 minutes on foot or just under 10 minutes by car away.
In detail:
The accommodation is located in a very large and beautiful garden, the lagoon is nicely visible from the rooftop terrace, and down on the terraces, you have your own beautiful realm.
Cleanliness: The house was truly very clean, a big compliment to the service. Equipment: You can tell that the owners also vacation here (occasionally). There is cutlery, dishes, etc. available in sufficient quantity and good quality.
Arrival/Departure: The house is about 40 minutes by car from Faro airport. When we left, we informed the rental service by phone in a straightforward manner. When we arrived at the house, everything was prepared, and Jens Röver explained everything necessary to us. For departure, we agreed on a time, and Jens Röver was then punctual on-site to make the handover. Again, everything was friendly, professional, and without issues.
Distribution: The house is not brand new, not sterile-modern. It is built in Moorish style and radiates a pleasant coziness. 2 bedrooms are also on the west side, another bedroom is a passage room to the rooftop terrace. Therefore, the house is suitable for larger families or 2 couples with a maximum of 2 children in the connecting room. All bedrooms do not have air conditioning for heating and cooling, the living room does not have air conditioning; we had to light the fireplace on a cool evening, as the central heating did not seem to work.
Location: Those who need infrastructure such as restaurants, pubs, and supermarkets in the immediate vicinity are not optimally located in this house. Those looking for peace, spaciousness, relaxation, nature, beautiful views, and privacy in a stylish house will find what they seek here. A car is highly recommended.

Dreamlike location
The house is situated on a large plot with plenty of privacy. Those seeking peace and quiet will get their money's worth here: birdsong, crickets chirping and you can even hear the sea roaring.
All windows have insect screens and the kitchen is equipped with everything the hobby cook needs. A boules court invites you to play. We had to heat the fireplace on some evenings, which also warms the master bedroom and the bathroom.
We had uncomplicated contact with the two "house ladies" who made us forget our messed up arrival with a nice welcome.
The only criticism and therefore not a full score: There were two usable sun loungers. What do you do with a full occupancy of 5 people?

Einziger Wermutstropfen waren die Mücken, aber das mag auch an der hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit gelegen haben.
Alles zusammen, sehr empfehlenswert.
JA, ohne jegliche Vorbehalte, jedoch muss man sicht bewusst sein, dass der nächste Ort Fuseta ca. 50 Minuten zu Fuß oder knapp 10 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt ist.
Im Einzelnen:
Die Unterkunft liegt in einem sehr großen und schönen Garten, die Lagune ist von der Dachterasse schön zu sehen, unten auf den Terassen hat man sein privates, schönes Reich.
Sauberkeit: Das Haus war wirklich sehr sauber, ein dickes Lob an den Service.
Ausstattung: Man merkt, dass die Eigentümer selbst auch (gelegentlich) Urlaub machen. Es ist Besteck, Geschirr etc. in gut ausreichende Menge und guter Qualität vorhanden.
Ankunft/Abreise: Das Haus liegt ca. 40 Autominuten vom Flugplatz Faro entfernt. Als wir dort losfuhren, haben wir dem Vermietservice telefonisch und unkompliziert informiert. Als wir am Haus ankamen war alles vorbeitet und wir bekamen alles notwendige von Jens Röver erklärt. Für die Abreise vereinbarten wir eine Uhrzeit und Jens Röver war dann pünklich vor Ort, um die Übergabe zu machen. Auch hier alles freundlich, professionell und ohne Probleme.
Aufteilung: Das Haus ist nicht brandneu, nicht steril-modern. Es ist im maurischen Stil erbaut und strahlt eine angenehme Gemütlichkeit aus. 2 Schlafzimmer befinden sich auch der Westseite, ein weiteres Schlafzimmer ist ein Durchgangszimmer zur Dachterasse. Daher eignet sich das Haus für größere Familien oder 2 Paare mit einem, max. 2 Kindern im Durchgangszimmer. Alle Schlafzimmer besitzen keine Klimaanlage zum Heizen und Kühlen, das Wohnzmmer hat keine Klimaanlage, wir mussten an einem kühlen Abend den Kaminofen anheizen, die Zentralheizung funktionierte wohl nicht.
Lage: Wer Infrastruktur wie Restaurantes, Kneipen, Supermärkte in direkter Umgebung braucht, ist in dem Haus nicht optimal aufgehoben. Wer Ruhe, Weitläufigkeit, Enspannung, Natur, schöne Aussicht und Privatsphäre in einem stilvollen Haus sucht, wird hier richtig sein. Ein Auto ist sehr zu empfehlen.
Die Betreuung durch die Familie Röver bestens. Wir haben das Haus bereits Freunden weiterempfohlen.
Alle Fenster haben Insektenschutz und die Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet, was der Hobbykoch benötigt. Ein Bouleplatz lädt zum Spiel ein. Wir mussten an einigen Abenden den Kamin anheizen, der auch den Masterbedroom und das Bad erwärmt.
Wir hatten unkomplizierten Kontakt zu den beiden "Hausdamen", die unsere verkorkste Anreise mit einem netten Empfang wieder vergessen ließen.
Einziger Kritikpunkt und deshalb keine volle Punktzahl: Es gab zwei benutzbare Sonnenliegen. Was macht man bei Vollbelegung mit 5 Personen?
wieder rundum wohl gefühlt.
Für unsere Bedürfnisse ist die Lage des Hauses und auch das Haus selbst ideal und
so werden wir sicherlich wiederkommen.

Das Haus ist eine landestypische Sommerbauweise mit 3 Schlafzimmern und 2 Bädern, sowie einer Sommerküche. 4 Außenterrassen gewähren ausreichende Individualität. Ein Pool ist nicht vorhanden.
Das Haus ist sauber, gepflegt und mit neuester Technik ausgestattet. Kamin, Heizung, w/k Wasser, Gas, Strom und ist reichlich ausgestattet.
Ein Auto ist ein Muss für Einkauf und Freizeit.
Contrabaixo haben wir mit 2 reiseerfahrenen, älteren Ehepaaren 2 Wochen im Juni 2019 bewohnt.
Wir können es sehr empfehlen.
Die Lage des Hauses zwischen Olhao und Tavira haben wir als sehr angenehm empfunden. Von hier aus bieten sich viele Ausflugsmöglichkeiten an.
Die Buchungsabwicklung war problemlos und die (deutschsprachige) Betreuung vor Ort prima.
Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohlgefühlt und werden bestimmt wiederkommen!
Besonders genossen haben wir die Plätze auf den vielseitigen Terassen und den riesigen Garten, in dem wir sogar Rebhühner und Wiedehopfe beobachten konnten. Die Nähe zum Naturschutzgebiet ist eben auch hier im Garten zu sehen. Durch die Größe des Grundstücks und die unbebauten Grundstücke in der Nachbarschaft ist es bis auf das Gurren der Tauben und Krächzen der Blauelstern wunderbar ruhig und diese entspannende Geräuschkulisse der Vögel hat dem Urlaub eine ganz eigene Athmosphäre gezaubert.
Die Ostalgarve fanden wir als Wohngegend sehr schön, da sie etwas wärmere Wassertemperaturen bietet als die Westalgarve und gemässigtere Temperaturen als Andalusien. Wir sind die Algarve von Sevilla bis Cabo Sao Vicente abgefahren und fanden die Lage von unserem Haus einfach perfekt dafür. Die Strände in Manta Rota, die man in 30 min mit dem Auto erreicht, haben uns sehr gut gefallen, aber auch die ruhigen Strände der vorgelagerten Laguneninseln, die gut mit Wassertaxis ab Fuseta erreichbar sind. Die Einkäufe haben wir in Fuseta oder Tavira erledigt, wo man eigentlich alles erhält, was man benötigt.
Ein herzliches Dank gilt auch den beiden deutschen Ladies, die für Schlüsselübergabe und evtl. Probleme vor Ort zur Verfügung standen und telefonisch bestens erreichbar sind.
Für uns war es alles in allem einer unserer erholsamsten und schönsten Urlaube. Wir haben uns direkt in die Algarve verliebt und wir würden gern wieder dort unseren Urlaub verbringen, gern auch wieder im Haus Contrabaixo.
