Description
Not far from the exciting lagoon landscape of Ria Formosa lies a loving house that is attuned to guests seeking peace and quiet. The Contrabaixo is named after the profession of its owner, a double bass player. This suggests that it is a particularly inspiring place to stay
You reach the secluded property via a dead-end street and stand undiminished in a well-tended garden with old pine trees, palm trees and plants typical of the country. The south-facing house stands in the middle of the grounds, protected from the only neighbour by a high wall, and on the other side there is nothing but pure nature. There are various shady and sunny corners and seating areas around the house to choose from, but the most popular is the small roof terrace, from which you have an impressive 180° view and can watch the tides in the lagoon all day.
The house is decorated in a Portuguese rustic style, with personal details and selected pictures on the walls. All rooms have several windows and allow the view of nature to flow freely. There is space for up to 5 people in three bedrooms, for which there are also two modern bathrooms. The two rear bedrooms have air conditioning units that can be used for heating and cooling and are charged extra when used.
The living room in the centre of the house and the kitchen with two outside doors offer all the comforts needed. For chilly evenings or the winter season, a powerful wood-burning stove and gas central heating are available (at cost price).
On the many mild days of the year, the outdoor shower, barbecue and summer kitchen attract you, so that you almost only have to enter the house to sleep.
Just a few metres on foot and you are in one of the most beautiful places in the Eastern Algarve. The bay of Arroteia with its colourful fishing boats is still a little insider tip. At low tide you can take long walks through the mudflats, where you can discover many birds, crabs, mussel collectors etc.. And if you cross the narrow channel at low tide, you can even take a dip in the cool Atlantic. 6 hours later, the lagoon resembles a huge lake and the water reaches all the way to the shore, inviting you to splash around. A recurring natural spectacle right on the doorstep...

Dreamlike location
The house is situated on a large plot with plenty of privacy. Those seeking peace and quiet will get their money's worth here: birdsong, crickets chirping and you can even hear the sea roaring.
All windows have insect screens and the kitchen is equipped with everything the hobby cook needs. A boules court invites you to play. We had to heat the fireplace on some evenings, which also warms the master bedroom and the bathroom.
We had uncomplicated contact with the two "house ladies" who made us forget our messed up arrival with a nice welcome.
The only criticism and therefore not a full score: There were two usable sun loungers. What do you do with a full occupancy of 5 people?

Entspannung und Erholung
Wir - ein Ehepaar im fortgeschrittenen Alter - haben das gut ausgestattete Haus mit dem großen, idyllischen Garten und gekiester Auffahrt sehr genossen. Auf dem nach drei Seiten uneinsehbaren Grundstück konnten wir uns völlig frei bewegen und insbesondere ausgiebig die Außendusche nutzen. Frühstück auf der Ost-Terrasse, nachmittags unterm Johannisbrotbaum und Abendessen auf der Dachterrasse mit Blick zum Meer und später zur Milchstraße. Tagsüber Ausflüge zu umliegenden Burgen und Kirchen; Kaffeetrinken in den gemütlichen kleinen Ortschaften; Spaziergänge im Watt bis zum offenen Meer; Sonnen am Sandstrand; Golf spielen auf einem schön angelegten Golfplatz ca. 15 km entfernt (günstiges greenfee und niedrige Leihgebühr). Man kann sicher noch mehr unternehmen, aber das war das, was uns gut tat. Wir hatten noch von zuhause aus einen Kleinwagen gemietet, mit dem wir durch die Gegend gezockelt sind (auch die Portugiesen fahren nicht schnell). Preiswerte Einkäufe für den täglichen Bedarf u.a. bei Aldi und Lidl. Wenige Touristen (außer uns natürlich) und viele äußerst freundliche Portugiesen. Wehmütiger Abschied!

Alles gut bis perfekt. Der Strand von Barrill ist bei Ebbe auch zu Fuß zu erreichen, nur 6 h später ist dann Flut und der Rückweg versperrt. Ein Auto ist also empfehlenswert. Unbedingt auch den Markt in Fuseta besuchen.

Traum am Naturpark
Wir waren das erste Mal im Casa Contrabaixo. Das Haus, das Grundstück und die direkte Lage am Naturpark haben uns sehr gefallen.

Hervorragend
Wir können uns den bereits vorhandenen psoitiven Bewertungen anschließen. Wir (2 Erwachsene + 2 Kinder) haben unseren Aufenthalt im "Contrabaixo" sehr genossen. Das geräumige Haus ist perfekt eingerichtet, picobello gepflegt und auch in der Küche mit allem ausgestattet, was man zur Selbtversorgung benötigt. Strände, Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind nur wenige Autominuten entfernt. Das große Anwesen mit seinem tollen Garten lädt zum Verweilen, Faullenzen und (die Kinder) zum Spielen ein. Nach der Hitze des Tages kann man sich unter der Außendusche erfrischen und das Abendessen in der Außenküche zubereiten. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Schönes Ferienhaus in naturnaher Umgebung
Tolle, ruhige, naturnahe Umgebung. Kein Luxus, aber authentisch gemütlich und liebevoll, funktional ausgestattet. Man kommt hier zur Ruhe. Wir haben hier sehr schöne 2 Wochen verbracht. Auto ist zu empfehlen.

Wir können es sehr empfehlen
Das Haus Contrabaixo liegt in Sichtweite der von Ebbe und Flut geprägten Flachküste der Ost-Algarve. Vorgelagert sind Sandinseln, Dünen und Schlickflächen. Das Gelände ist zersiedelt und unübersichtlich, aber um das Haus herum sehr gepflegt. Das Grundstück ist groß und bis auf das Eingangstor vollständig umzäunt, das man aber abschließen könnte. Die deutsche Wegbeschreibung zum Haus und die deutsche Betreuung vor Ort sind sehr gut.
Das Haus ist eine landestypische Sommerbauweise mit 3 Schlafzimmern und 2 Bädern, sowie einer Sommerküche. 4 Außenterrassen gewähren ausreichende Individualität. Ein Pool ist nicht vorhanden.
Das Haus ist sauber, gepflegt und mit neuester Technik ausgestattet. Kamin, Heizung, w/k Wasser, Gas, Strom und ist reichlich ausgestattet.
Ein Auto ist ein Muss für Einkauf und Freizeit.
Contrabaixo haben wir mit 2 reiseerfahrenen, älteren Ehepaaren 2 Wochen im Juni 2019 bewohnt.
Wir können es sehr empfehlen.

Haus zum Wohlfühlen
Die Casa Contrabaixo ist ein gepflegtes Haus auf einem großen Grundstück mit schönem Garten. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und bietet gerade auch draußen viele schöne Sitzmöglichkeiten. Wir haben hauptsächlich die überdachte Terrasse am Eingangsbereich und die Dachterrasse genutzt. Von hier aus hat man auch einen schönen Blick auf das nicht weit entfernte Meer und die Ilja de Tavira. Die Ilha de Tavira kann man vom Haus aus bei Niedrigwasser auch zu Fuß erreichen (Tipp!).
Die Lage des Hauses zwischen Olhao und Tavira haben wir als sehr angenehm empfunden. Von hier aus bieten sich viele Ausflugsmöglichkeiten an.
Die Buchungsabwicklung war problemlos und die (deutschsprachige) Betreuung vor Ort prima.
Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohlgefühlt und werden bestimmt wiederkommen!

Gemütliche Casa
Die Casa ist gut gelegen. Schöne Strände innerhalb von 15 min erreichbar. Die Casa war großzügig und hat genug Platz geboten. Alles was man braucht ist in der Casa vorhanden. Die Terasse biete einen schönen Ausblick aus Meer. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt!

Perfect holiday home with charm
We stayed in the house Contrabaixo for a fortnight and felt very comfortable. The house is as described and absolutely well equipped, especially in the kitchen. We simply didn't miss anything that you need for cooking and baking. There is even an electric juicer and a salad spinner.
We especially enjoyed the places on the versatile terraces and the huge garden, where we could even watch partridges and hoopoes. The proximity to the nature reserve can also be seen here in the garden. Due to the size of the property and the undeveloped plots in the neighbourhood, it is wonderfully quiet except for the cooing of the pigeons and the cawing of the blue starlings, and this relaxing soundscape of birds conjured up a very special atmosphere for the holiday.
We found the Eastern Algarve very nice as a place to live, as it offers slightly warmer water temperatures than the Western Algarve and more moderate temperatures than Andalucia. We travelled the Algarve from Seville to Cabo Sao Vicente and found the location of our house just perfect for this. We liked the beaches in Manta Rota, which can be reached in 30 minutes by car, but also the quiet beaches of the offshore lagoon islands, which are easily accessible by water taxi from Fuseta. We did our shopping in Fuseta or Tavira, where you can actually get everything you need.
A big thank you also goes to the two German ladies who were available for handing over the keys and for any problems on site and who are very easy to reach by phone.
All in all, it was one of our most relaxing and enjoyable holidays. We fell in love with the Algarve and would love to spend our holidays there again, and in the Contrabaixo house.
