We lacked nothing. The owner is super nice. The little house is cozy and invites relaxation. For stargazers, this is a brilliant place... incredibly beautiful view... The walk to the lake, at a leisurely pace, takes 15 minutes. The lake is beautiful, clear... simply dreamy.
Thank you for a wonderful week ❤️

Spend your vacation in one of the many picturesque cities and stay amidst the Altmühltal Nature Park surrounded by the grand landscape of the Jura mountains. Perfect for hiking! Kelheim, an attractive Baroque city at the confluence of the Altmühl and Danube rivers, offers ideal conditions for a relaxing vacation amidst culture and nature. The Dukes of Bavaria once resided in Kelheim and endowed the place with magnificent attractions. Do not miss the Liberation Hall of King Ludwig I, situated high above Kelheim. The spa town Treuchtlingen offers top-notch spa facilities, and the Limes-Therme in Bad Gögging has everything needed for relaxation and fun for the whole family. Bad Gögging is a district of the town of Neustadt an der Donau in Lower Bavaria, and Treuchtlingen is known for its Treuchtlingen marble. In the health resort Pappenheim, you will find one attraction next to another, and there will likely be a castle right in front of your vacation apartment or cozy holiday home. Breathe in the wonderfully fresh health resort air and stroll between castle ruins, palaces, and a well-preserved old town. The bishop's city of Eichstätt, filled with numerous attractions, is an equally excellent starting point for many activities. It offers attractive vacation apartments and affordable houses from private owners and spoils you with cultural events and museums galore. Here, the beautiful Altmühltal Panorama Trail and the excellently designed Altmühltal Bike Path are right at the doorstep of your apartment, holiday accommodation, or comfortably furnished house. Beilngries with its historic town center is also worth a visit, and Riedenburg in the heart of the Altmühltal Nature Park offers beautiful accommodations and plenty of nature. The town not only boasts three castles but also attracts with a castle museum and a falconry on Rosenburg Castle, where you can admire the graceful birds and their flying skills twice a day. In the surrounding area, you will find additional attractions such as the Schulerloch dripstone cave and the Randeck castle ruins or the Willibaldsburg. Willibaldsburg is a spur castle built around 1353 in Eichstätt in Upper Bavaria. It served as a representative castle and residence of the prince-bishops until the 18th century. Also consider a trip to Gunzenhausen, Schernfeld, or Beilngries. The town of Beilngries is located directly on the Main-Danube Canal.
Scenically magnificent and a highlight of the Altmühltal Nature Park is the so-called "Weltenburger Enge": the Danube's breakthrough, squeezed between towering white Jura cliffs. Weltenburg Abbey, directly at the Danube breakthrough, is another must-see and impresses with its magnificent Baroque abbey church, designed by the artist brothers Asam. The Altmühltal National Park is world-famous for its unique fossil finds, which are unparalleled anywhere else in the world. They date back to about 147 million years ago when Altmühltal was a subtropical lagoon landscape populated by pterosaurs, dinosaurs, and ancestors of today's birds. A tip: Marvel at the fossilized prehistoric creatures like the world-famous and unique Archaeopteryx and visit the museum in Solnhofen, where the first discovery was made in 1890, or the exciting Jura Museum in Eichstätt, which displays further interesting fossils. Solnhofen is a municipality on the Altmühl in the southeast of the Middle Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen. Simply rent a comfortable holiday accommodation or a vacation apartment, for example on a farm, with a garden, kitchen, balcony, modern amenities, and in the best location, and spend relaxing holidays according to your personal wishes in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany.

Franconian gastronomy loves dishes with marjoram-spiced sausages. In addition to the famous Nuremberg sausages, there are many other sausage specialties such as Hofer and Kulmbacher or Coburger bratwurst, which are darkly roasted and smoked over pine cones. Typically, the sausages are enjoyed with mustard, horseradish, or sauerkraut and a roll but never with ketchup. Try the "Saure Zipfel", a special variant of bratwurst cooked in vinegar broth with juniper berries, bay leaves, and lots of onions. Franconian specialties also include "Schäufele", baked pork shoulders with rind, and "Fränkischer Sauerbraten", whose sauce is thickened with a crushed gingerbread, known as "Soßenkuchen". Cranberry compote is served alongside. Those who love the unusual and are adventurous might try the "Schweinfurter Schlachtschüssel" and "Schwaaß", a blood dish baked with old rolls, onions, and bacon, seasoned with marjoram. In the countless traditional breweries, hearty dark beer is brewed and served with every main meal – unless you opt for one of the delicious Franconian wines!
In Franconia, people love to celebrate. In almost every village in the Altmühltal Nature Park, interesting events take place monthly. Culinary and tradition are celebrated in June with the Fish Festival in Riedenburg and in August with the large and lively Riedenburg Folk Festival. If you rent an apartment in Beilngries, you can experience a bit of Italy in the Altmühltal Nature Park in August during the "Italian Night – Festa musicale al canale". Beilngries is located in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt and is a state-recognized resort town. A cultural excursion destination is Eggersberg, which you can reach stylishly with an excursion boat on the Main-Danube Canal. Here, you should visit the historically interesting Hofmark Museum at Eggersberg Castle. The first and smallest dinosaur in the world was discovered in a quarry near Eggersberg. A burial site from the Celtic period below the castle unearthed unique finds that are displayed in the Hofmark Museum. Also visit Burg Prunn: it is one of the best-preserved knight's castles in Bavaria. It sits on a 70-meter-high rock above the Altmühltal. Known for the discovery of a manuscript of the Nibelungenlied and the Renaissance residential building. Explore further attractions like the Liberation Hall. It is a monument on Michelsberg above the town of Kelheim in Lower Bavaria.
Altmühltal captivates with its unique landscape and historic cities, while also being a health resort. It is located in Southern Franconia within the triangle of the cities Nuremberg, Regensburg, and Ingolstadt. Coming from the west, you reach Nuremberg on the A6 and from there the federal road B2, which brings you near the river's source. The A9, connecting Nuremberg and Ingolstadt, takes you to the middle and lower region of the Altmühltal Nature Park. Particularly beautiful sections of the Altmühltal Nature Park can be accessed via the B16 from Regensburg, which brings you close to the Danube. Those arriving by train contribute to preserving the beautiful environment of this region. The idyllic Kinding can be reached directly by train from Nuremberg, Munich, Regensburg, and Ingolstadt. Rent a holiday home or an apartment with modern amenities at a reasonable price from private owners here or nearby, and embark on hikes or bike rides into the splendid surroundings.
