Holiday apartments and houses in Porto Ottiolu

We spent a wonderful holiday in this dream house in June 2018 with 7 adults and 3 growing children :-)
The house is equipped with everything you can imagine and is furnished with great attention to detail. It is a little paradise of tranquility with a very lovingly landscaped garden and a fantastic pool. Even though the photos already have quite some expressive power, in "real life"
it is overwhelming - the house, the view, the surroundings - simply perfect.
We liked it so much in the villa that we didn't feel like doing any great activities for the first few days. We simply enjoyed the property and the sun, undisturbed in our little garden of Eden amidst a beautiful sea of flowers with a view of the sea.
All in all, a insider tip and we can only recommend the villa.
It is very quiet and you can reach the sea and the center in a few minutes. In Porto Ottiolu there are some restaurants, as well as a very good bakery and a small supermarket. However, for larger shopping trips and activities, it is better to go to nearby San Teodoro.
Evi and Fritz are really very likeable landlords! We were warmly welcomed with a little snack and white wine and immediately felt at home. A big thank you to the two of them, who were able to help us with numerous tips (lonely coves, restaurants, excursions, etc.) to make our holiday varied and unforgettable. The highlights were a boat trip from Cala Gonone in Caribbean blue water and dreamy beaches and of course a flight with Fritz (he is a flight instructor) over the island.
All in all, a dream, what more could you want? A truly perfect holiday and I think we will see each other again :-)

After many years of staying in the holiday homes offered by Evi and Fritz in Sardinia, we visited Castel Smeralda in Porto Ottiolu for the first time this autumn. The house has a wonderfully beautiful garden with a pool and stunning sea views. It is very quiet, the last house in a dead-end street high up on the mountain. A footpath leads to a small bathing bay, and another trail directly behind the house leads down the mountain to the sea and then further into the village (good for getting an ice cream or having an espresso in the village).

The house is equipped with everything your heart desires, from 2 fully equipped kitchens to 4 double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There is also a children's room with 6 beds and the pool house can be used as another bedroom. Special highlights for us were the covered outdoor kitchen, the great pool with sea views, and the outdoor showers around the house. The loving interior design with lots of driftwood and mosaics is also worth mentioning. However, we spent most of our time outside in the garden or on one of the terraces around the house or on the fantastic beaches in the area - all easily accessible by car, which we could also rent from our landlords.

Evi and Fritz are always available for any questions or tips of any kind. The transfer to and from the airport also works great.

Once again, we were warmly welcomed this time and are already looking forward to our next stay in one of Evi and Fritz's great houses (whether Casa Tavolara, Castel Smeralda, or the smaller Villetta Pontecino). And last but not least: what we particularly appreciate about the landlords is that you don't have to pay in advance, but only when you are warmly welcomed on-site with a glass of wine and a Sardinian welcome snack.

After our vacation is already over again for a month and it is still fresh in our memory, I am now giving a review.

Pros:
Amazing location with a fantastic view
Beautiful holiday home with many extras
Top garden area with a pool
Very nice landlords who are always ready to help
Located on the outskirts, very quiet
Ideal for families with children who can already swim.

Cons:
No air conditioning (probably due to the limitation of maximum power consumption per household in Sardinia). But it wasn't a big problem because the nights were usually below 20 degrees Celsius.
No real mosquito protection available
A car is necessary
