Travel guide Obersee
The Lake Constance Climate Makes Winters Mild and Summers Hot
Summer and winter each have their special charms at Obersee. Therefore, a vacation in one of the numerous local vacation homes or private apartments in the middle of nature is recommended all year round. The winters are mild and the summers are consistent and very warm. It is no coincidence that tropical plants such as palms thrive on the island of Mainau. However, you should be familiar with the climate peculiarities around Lake Constance when choosing one of the beautiful vacation apartments or houses by the lake. Lake Obersee has an area of 473 km² and a depth of up to 250 m, resulting in its relatively large amount of water. This leads to the Lake Constance climate, as the water warms the air in winter and increases humidity in summer. This results in warm winters without frost and humid-hot summers when it is calm over the valley. When a pleasant breeze blows from the lake, the warm summer days are among the most beautiful the country has to offer. Since Lake Constance is located directly in front of the Alps, the region is additionally influenced by the typical alpine föhn weather conditions throughout the year.
