'La Ferrache' is located in a quiet location in Embres et Castelmaure, an old wine-producing village in the Corbières between Narbonne and Perpignan. You will be delighted by the wonderful old garden (1,000 m2) and the large swimming pool (5 x 11 m). The spacious house for 6-7 persons on 170 m2 is ideal for families with children of all ages. It is tastefully furnished with a mix of antiques and modern. In the large living room with open fireplace you will find books in German, English and French for the whole family. The large kitchen is equipped with all amenities (dishwasher, microwave, rent a car.). Free Wi-Fi Internet access and free long distance calls to other countries, TV, DVD and CD players are available
Here you can relax from everyday stress and enjoy the views of the vineyards and the Garrigue and the magnificent views of the Corbières mountains, they often glow at sunset in 'Alpenglow'.
Travel times:
The region is an attractive destination in every season. In February the almond trees are in bloom, in March, the mimosa and in April-May the Garrigue is in bloom. May-June and September-October are ideal for walking and cycling. The summer period of July-August is the best time for beach visits on the Mediterranean, but often the water temperature is already very pleasant in mid-June.

Location and surroundings of object
The house is in the village, at the end of a small village street, which continues as a path in the vineyards and the Garrigue. The village is an active wine-growing village surrounded by vineyards and with views of the Corbières mountains.
A traveling baker comes every morning to the village and provides bread and croissants. Greengrocers come once a week and sell their wares in the village square. In Durban (8 km) there is a very good supermarket with butcher's shop and petrol station, a bakery, a bank and a pharmacy. In Sigean and Leucate there are large supermarkets, restaurants and weekly markets.

Embres and the environment:
Embres et Castelmaure is an active wine-producing village. The winery (cave coopérative) is known for its excellent wines at a reasonable price. Wine lovers can visit numerous wineries nearby for wine tastings. On request we can send you more information. The wine harvest in September is an experience! Wine tasting, hiking and cycling are popular activities in the Corbières.

La Place du Marché in Villesèque, Le28Pardi! in Cascastel, L'Atelier in Treilles. and the Auberge du Vieux Puits in Fontjoncouse (2 stars) for special occasions.
Beaches nearby:
The beautiful, very clean Mediterranean beaches in Leucate Plage, La Franqui and Port la Nouvelle are about 30 km away. The Etangs (lagoons) in Bages, part of the Parc Naturel, are known for their flamingos and other birds.

Attractions in the region:
Located between Narbonne and Perpignan Embres-et-Castelmaure is an ideal starting point for excursions in the area. You are the heart of Cathar country, and the castles of Quéribus, Peyrepertuse and Termenès are very interesting for children and only 30-45 minutes away. Tautavel with its prehistoric museum is also worth a visit.
A trip to the nearby Pyrenees offers itself especially for hiking and mountain lovers and cyclists.
In Narbonne and the surrounding area you will find traces of the Romans: archeological sites and a Roman Museum invite you to visit. Narbonne also offers lots of shopping and good restaurants. There is a hall market where fresh fruits and vegetables and delicious local specialties can be found (daily. Except Sunday), and many small shops and a weekly market (Thursday and Sunday) at the Canal du Midi.
Other worthwhile places to visit: the famous medieval city of Carcassonne; Perpignan with its Catalan atmosphere; Abbaye de Fontfroide; Lagrasse with its medieval abbey; Collioure and Céret, picturesque villages in the Roussillon. Especially for children: La Réserve Africaine in Sigean.

Relaxation and tranquillity in the Corbieres vineyard
The 10 days were very nice in your house, we felt very comfortable with the beautiful garden and the pool! Many thanks also to the house manager, the house offers everything necessary and the pool is very well maintained and she is very friendly and helpful! We will certainly come back and enjoy the sun and the peace and quiet in the Corbieres.

Beautiful holiday home in great nature
The holiday home was the best equipped for us. From bathroom items, kitchen herbs, pasta, sauces and much more, everything was in stock for the first days. Plenty of dishes and towels - you can take a long break from housework :). The house is in a great location for short and long hikes, for racing cyclists a super great area
The landlords have lovingly provided all the sights and tips sorted by languages and activities. But lazing around is also great and the pool is just great.

Leben wie Gott in Frankreich
Wer immer schon davon geträumt hat, wie Gott in Frankreich zu leben, La Ferrache in Embres-et-Castelmaure ist genau der Ort, wo dieser Traum in Erfüllung geht. Wir haben im Oktober 2017 vier Wochen mit Familie und Freunden einen Super-Urlaub verbracht, mit sportlichen Aktivitäten wie Strassenradfahren durch die urspruenglich-wilden Corbieres und Wandern auf den Spuren der Katharer, Ausflügen nach Narbonne zum Einkaufen in der Markthalle (ein Erlebnis für sich), Boule spielen mit den Einheimischen, Weinverkostungen, und Faulenzen und Lesen am Pool.
Das schöne Haus mit allen Annehmlichkeiten und der private Garten wurden in dieser Zeit zu unserem "Heim". Wir fühlten uns wie zuhause und die Hausmanagerin war jederzeit erreichbar mit Rat und Tat, wenn wir Fragen hatten. Sie stellte sicher, dass der Pool immer picco bello war!
Wir leben an der Westküste der USA und scheuen die weite Anreise nicht, um wieder einmal Urlaub in La Ferrache zu machen.

Beautiful house in a great location.
We spent a wonderful week in La Ferrache last summer. The house is furnished with love and is also practical. You can tell that the owners also enjoy spending their vacation here. The highlight, not only for the children, was the pool, which is very spacious and wonderfully clean thanks to the best technology. The property is no longer brand new, but that also adds to its extraordinary charm. From Embres, you can reach the Mediterranean relatively quickly (about 30 minutes), with the route through the mountains truly breathtaking.
Actually, we wanted to come back next year, but unfortunately, the house was already booked for our desired dates. What a pity!
But we will make it happen someday!!!

Relaxing vacation
We had a wonderful time in Embres during the summer of 2017. The house is spacious and well-equipped, located on the edge of the village and vineyards. The pool is large. We had regular strong wind during our holiday. The village is situated in the mountains, about half to three-quarters of an hour from the sea. In the village, there is a mobile baker at 11:00, and 2-3 times a week a vegetable and meat van. In the summer, there is a food truck restaurant at the local winemaker cooperative - a real experience - highly recommended! The National Day celebration was also unique - a must. The contact with Clara Steiner-Jay and the housekeeper Cathérine was excellent, Cathérine has a solution for every problem :-). Having a car is a must. If you are not looking for hustle and bustle, this house is highly recommended. We can easily imagine coming back.

Perfect French Country Vacation
We four seniors had the pleasure of staying at this lovely home for ten days in September 2016. Located on the edge of a picturesque village, the home is nicely decorated, comfortable and quiet. Everything was very clean and well maintained, including the frequently used washer. We especially appreciated the spacious, well-stocked kitchen and we ate most meals outdoors with a view of the pool and neighboring vineyard. The pool was enjoyed throughout our visit and it was particularly refreshing after a day of exploring the area. Hiking trails, castles, wineries, the coast and Narbonne were favorites. We used the house guidebooks, maps and brochures to help plan activities. We enjoyed our visit here and highly recommend this home - definitely five star!

Really beautiful!
Everything corresponded completely to the description. Above all, the washing machine and dryer were very important to us as a large family. There was a sufficient quantity of dishes, cooking utensils, towels, and bed linen. The house and the outdoor area were impeccably clean and well-maintained, and the pool was a dream. We spent hours of the day in it. Even in scorching temperatures, the terrace was a pleasant place due to the roof. The spaciousness of the property, the pool, and the tasteful furnishings create a true holiday feeling. The bakery and supermarket in nearby Durban have everything a person needs. The cooperative located in the village sells inexpensive and delicious wine. The food truck, which offers delicious food with a view of a beautiful mountain landscape from Thursday to Saturday, is located directly on the cooperative grounds, a few steps from the house. Tables can be reserved for this purpose at the cooperative. By car, you can reach castles, vineyards, interesting cities, and all of this in a beautiful, diverse landscape. The sea is especially beautiful at Plage de Franqui, with its very wide beach and the opportunity to watch kite surfing. The village itself is a real, winding French village. For those looking for peace, relaxation, and authenticity, it is the perfect place. We would also like to thank for the competent and very friendly on-site support! The contact with the friendly landlady was very warm. She answered inquiries immediately and gave very good tips. We had a wonderful vacation and would love to come back.
