Description
Our house is located in the middle of the Corbiéres, a scenically very attractive low mountain range in the Languedoc. A historically grown wine region characterized by small and old villages, many buildings (bridges, churches and monasteries) date from the Middle Ages. The region is also called the Cathar country, castle ruins and the remains of Chateaus remind of the time of the crusade in the 12th and 13th century. The wines are characteristic, visits to the domains and chateaus are an experience. The panorama is reminiscent of Monet's southern French impressions. The scent of lavender, cedars and cypresses is in the air. Here they live secluded and yet not too far from the centers and the beaches
They rent a characteristic, recently renovated country villa in a hamlet not far from Lagrasse in the department of Aude. Saint Martin des Puits is located in a side valley on the L'Orbieu, a small river, away from mass tourism. Absolute tranquillity is guaranteed. You can swim in the rivers of the region if your own pool is not enough
The house is very spacious with approx. 110 m² living space, has four bedrooms (three on the 1st floor, one downstairs), a living room with seating set, fireplace and SAT-TV, kitchen and bathroom (with shower and bathtub), several terraces, partly overgrown by trees. A large one directly in front of the kitchen invites you to breakfast under a mulberry tree, a roof terrace for undisturbed sunbathing. Even when it rains, you can enjoy your cocktail in the evening under another covered terrace, with a view of the garden and the illuminated pool. The large pool with generous outdoor space completes the property
The garden, overgrown and bordered with old trees (red cedars, pines and cypresses) give the property a special, southern French flair, the ideal environment for an undisturbed and relaxing holiday

We bought the house in early 2020 and subsequently renovated inside and out. It is a property, an environment in which we feel very comfortable and which we always very reluctantly leave. We hope that our guests will fall in love with this southern French landscape as we have.
