Description
The Matala Gallery Apartment is one of four units in the beautifully renovated "The Artist House" .
Manolis Pachakis has lovingly and artistically transformed this 118-year-old mansion in Pitsidia into a very special place. As soon as you enter the impressive hallway, you can feel the magic of this wonderful old stone building.
Almost all the furniture was made by Manolis himself from sustainable materials such as old doors, windows, wooden barrels or similar.
The Matala flat has a living/dining area with smart TV, a very well-equipped kitchenette, bathroom and large sleeping gallery, as well as a second separate bedroom. A private balcony adjacent to the living area gives views of the beautiful Ida Mountains. Furthermore, there are two large terraces, one in front and the other behind the house. These can be used by all guests of the 3 studios + the "Apartment Matala".

Location and surroundings of object
The Artist Apartment House is centrally located in the centre of Pitsidia, so that everything is within walking distance. For example, you can have a great breakfast at the "Onira" and end the evening with a good glass of wine in one of the many delicious restaurants.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the beach, and only five minutes by car.
There are music events on the village square twice a week. These evenings have a great atmosphere. There are easy as well as adventurous hiking possibilities in the surrounding area.....
There are many sights to explore: Palace of Phaistos, excavation site Gortyna and Agia Triada, monastery "Moni Odigitrias" and much more.
Beautiful beaches: Komos, Matala, Red Beach, Kalamaki, Agiofarago, Lentas,Tripiti, Preveli, etc.
The museum in Vori is also within easy reach.

Again and again gladly
We have spent our vacation at Manolis for the umpteenth time, and it certainly won't be the last time.
You really feel welcome, and the communication with Bärbel is excellent. The accommodation offers everything you need and is very centrally located. Restaurants, supermarket, and beach are within walking distance.
Thank you very much for the wonderful time in Crete :-)

Summer vacation 2024
The house is very lovingly designed artistically. The location is very good; you can reach the beach on foot, but you are far enough from the coast to enjoy the holidays in a nice village in complete relaxation. Hopefully, Pitsidia will continue to be spared from mass tourism!

We can unreservedly recommend the apartment!
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed, and the communication was flawless before and during our stay. The apartment was very clean, and we lacked nothing. Everything you need is within walking distance, and it only takes half an hour to walk to the beach. Manolis's hospitality was great. A joint excursion and regularly held BBQs were real highlights! Thank you for this unforgettable vacation experience; we would love to come back!

The apartment is wonderfully furnished. You have everything you need (air conditioning, kitchen, coffee maker, etc.) and the attention to detail in the decoration and furnishings is outstanding. We were once invited by Manolis (the landlord) to a self-cooked dinner at Paradiso, and that was also delicious. Overall, a highly recommended apartment and a highly recommended landlord!
