Mattresses worn out, beds broken, billiards cannot be played (cues broken, balls broken, balls missing), air hockey not functional at all, TV in the hall not working, fan in the bathroom clogged with dust/dirt and bathroom smells, water damage (mold?) on wallpaper, heating missing, playground not usable, no sandbox, everything broken in the garden (gazebo...) ), lake is over 1 km away, fire extinguisher inspection partly expired, the whole village is deserted, there is a pub with overpriced prices and unfriendly staff

Beautiful house - great weekend
We spent three very nice days at the Haus am Walde on the last weekend of October this year (2016).
The house was super suitable for our large group with many children. Everyone felt at home in the large common room with a large kitchen. The kitchen was perfect for self-catering. The nostalgic furnishings of the former FDGB home meant that the charm of the East was still fully tangible and brought back childhood memories.
The rooms on the first floor, which we had just for us, were clean and well-maintained (all equipped with double beds and bunk beds).
There was nothing lacking at the breakfast buffet. Even highchairs for children and bed linen, which was requested at short notice, were delivered quickly
Playground, horses and forest paths - all easily and quickly accessible. The house was a good starting point for a short hike to Kukuk in beautiful surroundings.

Great, very well located group house!
We spent our annual community retreat at "Haus Am Walde" from May 18th - 22nd, 2016. It was a fantastic few days! All age groups, from 3 months to the oldest participant (80 years old), felt comfortable in this large house located directly by the forest. We were able to divide the large dining hall into two areas, one for eating and one for worship/music. With 85 participants, everyone had enough space. The rooms were all clean and equipped with a full bathroom and good beds. There was nothing to complain about. The noise from the music in the evenings didn't even reach the bedrooms through the ceiling. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed to cook and provide for a large group. There is a terrace and a meadow right by the house, inviting for relaxation and football games. The house is old and rustic but perfect for families with children and seniors. The 4 apartments with two bedrooms were great for larger families. On the two floors where the rooms are located, there is a fully equipped kitchenette with a lounge area and seating for 20 people each. There is a path through the woods that leads to a swimming lake about 800m away. But beware of mosquitoes!
The landlord, Gerd Schröder, was always available and helpful. For me, it is essential that the landlord is reachable, uncomplicated, and accommodating. And he truly was! We were able to rent bicycles from him at short notice and on Sunday, we were able to celebrate an open-air worship service by the lake, followed by a barbecue. We were allowed to take the grills, garden tables, and chairs from the house! Fantastic! Thank you very much, Mr. Schröder! We will be back!
