The quaint village centre of Akkrum offers lots of charm and history, with no fewer than 21 national monuments. Heerenveen (about 15 km away), Leeuwarden (about 20 km) and Drachten (about 25 km) are also very attractive and well-known cities that are within easy reach here in the province of Friesland.
