Location and surroundings of object

Our "Ostsee-Kate" is located in the coastal foothills of the island of Usedom in Western Pomerania. 130 people live here. Fields and meadows characterise the region, but there are also small forests and nature reserves. The scenic Peene valley is close by and the island of Usedom with its fine, wide sandy beaches is right in front of the house, so to speak. If you are looking for peace and quiet, but don't want to be completely secluded, you can reach the new Baltic Sea motorway A 20, AS Gützkow/ Insel Usedom in only 15 km. There are excellent transport links to Berlin and Hamburg and also to Szczecin. The nearest railway station with connections to Berlin and Stralsund/Rostock/ Hamburg is 5 km away. You can also easily reach us via Hamburg/ Rostock/ Berlin from southern or western Germany. From Schmatzin you can reach Usedom in half an hour (also possible by bike and train!) and the Peene, the "Amazon of the North", in ten minutes. Here you can experience a breathtaking river landscape by canoe or motorboat. In addition, you can hike and cycle as far as you like in the surrounding area. The Hanseatic cities of Greifswald and Anklam are nearby, Stralsund and Rügen can be reached in about three quarters of an hour, Rostock in just over an hour. As a guest of the "Ostsee-Kate", you can thus ideally combine city tours and (bathing) excursions to the lively island regions and beach areas with charming explorations into the Peenestrom valley and a relaxing retreat to your stylish accommodation in a tranquil location.
The manor village of Schmatzin is located in Ostvorpommern between the Peene and the Baltic Sea. Together with Schlatkow and Wolfradshof, it forms the municipality of Schmatzin. The mayor's office is located in the historic estate of Schlatkow. Special sights of Schmatzin are the romantic, overgrown estate park, Bronze Age burial mounds and a grey heron colony on the Fuchsberg.
