Cozy and comfortably furnished holiday apartment in an apartment house on a hillside on the Glockenberg in Altenau. Your holiday home is equipped with a terrace and WiFi. After your return, you can visit the Kristalltherme Heißen Brocken, where you can spend relaxing and restful hours.

The climatic health resort of Altenau is not only one of the starting points for hikes on the Harzer Hexenstieg, but also houses the largest herb park in Europe with a beautiful spice gallery. You should also not miss a visit to the Altenau private brewery with a guided tour and tasting. It is the only remaining brewery in the Upper Harz. Altenau is located in the middle of the Upper Harz, around ten kilometers from Clausthal-Zellerfeld and 15 kilometers from Goslar. To the east, 12 kilometers away, is the peak of the Brocken.

This was the second year we celebrated Christmas and New Year at the Bärenhütte. This year's review is a bit shorter than last year's, but the stay was just as great. We had a wonderful time and hope to come back again in the future!

What a wonderful stay! The apartment was cozy and well-equipped, which made it feel like a home away from home. The views from the terrace were simply breathtaking, especially at sunset. We spent our days hiking on the Harzer Hexenstieg and even visited the local brewery for a tour, which was a highlight. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home right away. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature!

Upon arrival at the Bärenhütte it seems as if we are not expected, but that is our own fault. The travel documents clearly state where we need to go to pick up the key. Fortunately, our contact person (Herr Leonhardt) is very patient and he explains to us by telephone what we need to do.

Upon entering we were immediately positively surprised. What a space! And upon entering the living room, what a view! Delicious. The living room is modernly furnished with a lovely sofa. There is a (smart) TV so you can enjoy a movie in the evenings. In the living room there is a staircase leading down to a bedroom. These stairs do not have a stair gate, so keep that in mind if you are with (small) children. Our youngest is 4, so that's going well, but with younger children the stairs can be quite exciting.

The kitchen is fully equipped and there is more than enough work space. There is a separate toilet in the hallway and a toilet in the bathroom. The bathroom looks a bit dated, but in the end it is just fine. A nice bath, a separate shower and two sinks.

The beds are comfortable (soft mattresses) and there are nice warm duvets. Each bedroom (except the one downstairs) has its own exit to the terrace. The terrace is spacious and even in winter it can be maintained at times.

Another plus is that the apartment is within walking distance of a wonderful wellness complex and you will also find a bakery even closer.

All in all we had a great time here! We have already booked for next year.
