Description
The comfortable detached house ALEXIA is surrounded by magnificent bougainvillea, banana plants, orange trees, fig and olive trees and offers a wide view across the Laconian Bay and the picturesque village Gythion. The house is set close to the idyllic Valtaki Bay in a beautiful hillside location on a terraced garden property with innumerable flower pots and various terraces that create an atmosphere of quiet peace and harmony. The comfortably and nicely furnished holiday house is built on a gentle hill covered with olive trees and is perfect for a great holiday. From the large front terrace you have a wonderful free view across the sea and the first headland of the Mani region.
The two-storey holiday house is at the end of a quiet dead-end road and can be accessed via some steps. Colourful bougainvillea plants are lining the entrance of the property. On elevated ground floor is the spacious living room with a high wood-panelled ceiling. Adjoining to the living room is the half-open kitchen and the bathroom. From the living room you have direct access to a large roofed terrace with a wonderful sea view. A wooden staircase leads from the living room to the first floor. On the open gallery above the living room there is sleeping area, another more bedroom and a toilet
There are several terraces to the side of the house with cosy seating possibilities that give you privacy and retreat. Directly behind the holiday house is a small storing and appliance house.
The fine sandy beach directly below the holiday house does not welcome you with loud music and snack bars. Here you can quietly enjoy the clear water and the sand dunes. There is a tavern above the beach, half –way to your holiday house that offers good Greek cuisine. The location of the holiday house is ideal for excursions as is the gateway towards Mani, but also towards the neighbouring eastern finger of Laconia and Monemvassia and the beautiful island Elafonissos. Don´t miss out on the byzantine Mistras that lies further towards the north.

Wonderful and very clean, house in a beautiful silent place with a stunning view and colourful garden. In reality it is beter than pictures Situated on the peninsula of Mani on the Pelopponesis, out of the flow of tourists (also in august), very well equipped and close to all services you could need (car needed to get to Gytheio, but restaurants and beaches can be reached walking) The owners are very welcoming and warm, with a big care for all details. Thank you!

Sehr herzliche Vermieter.

Très beau logement, très propre et fonctionnel. Très bel environnement calme. Très bien reçu par une famille grecque.

The house was well kept and immaculately clean. It exceeded our expectations and we loved the sea view and open layout of the house. Calmness was important for us too and the house and also the region are great for relaxing "away from it all" The local hosts were very friendly and welcoming and surprised us with welcome gifts. (olive oil, jam, and sweets) We had a peaceful relaxing holiday yet just steps away from a local beach and tavern with great tasting local food. Outside table and view was also a great place to have dinner. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower. The kitchen was also well stocked with what you be needed to make your own meals including spices. We had good clear communication prior to arrival and during our stay. Our host provided us with information and made us aware of forms required before arrival and departure in Greece . Unfortunately, we happened to be in the area during the wildfires, but we felt reassured as our hosts helped us during this time and looked out for our safety. We recommend the house for those looking for a calm, beach holiday.

A delightful house with an amazing view. The owners are clearly very artistic. Everywhere you look there's a little touch of personal artistry. An arranged group of stones, careful lighting, here a wall decoartion, there a different aspect of the view down onto the bay. Super. The intruder alarm gave us a little (noisy) problem for a few hours, one day, but it was finally fixed and silence was restored.... the nearest shops are in Gytheion, a few km to the west (drive, too far to walk), but there is a seasonal taverna close by (400 m). When we were there (early October in the Year of The Coronavirus), it was very quiet and the range of food was limited; but it WAS good. The beach with the shipwreck is close by, but maybe not the easiest to get into the sea, because of the nature of the shoreline. However, if you walk to the left, along the main road, on leaving the villa - there are a few narrow sandy bays off the road which are just perfect. I didn't have the enthusiasm to get up in time to walk tothe shipwreck for a sunrise photoshoot... but we're thinking of staying there again during this trip, so maybe next time I'll get up in the dark and go for that walk.

The cottage was magnificent, as well as the location. The surrounding garden was very beautiful. A quiet relaxing place ideal for a small family or couple.

We had a wonderful holiday in this charming house with its dreamy sea view! The house is very well maintained, lovingly furnished, and equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday, so even as a flight traveler with limited baggage, you should be well equipped. The owners, a very nice older couple who also speak a little English, take very good care of their guests - pampering them with homemade olive oil, cookies, or jam and always being attentive if you need anything else. They come by regularly to change bed linens, clean, and water the garden (times can be arranged). A few practical tips: The terrace is fully covered with two fabric awnings, providing good protection from light rain (we had some rainy days in August). There is good privacy from the neighboring house Amanda due to bushes, but conversations in normal volume can be easily heard from the respective neighboring terrace - something to be aware of. Below the house is a small bay with a sandy beach and calm, shallow water - suitable for children and non-swimmers. Footpath about 400 m, access next to the neighboring tavern, to which the beach belongs. By consuming a drink, you can use sun loungers and umbrellas for free. The tavern itself is a friendly family-run business with good food and reasonable prices (some items are not translated on the menu - just ask!) and sometimes family events with music until the early hours... The house is an ideal starting point for exploring the southern Peloponnese (for the ancient sites in the north, a location in the north is probably better due to the several-hour drive). Gythio (about 12 km west) is the nearest town for shopping, eating out, and morning coffee at a café overlooking the port. 15 minutes by car) is an authentic little harbor town where life still belongs to the locals even in the summer. There is all the necessary infrastructure (supermarkets, doctors, plenty of taverns around the harbor...), without seeming "touristy". Those looking for a vacation among Greeks away from the big tourist crowds are in the right place. At this point, a big thank you to Jassu Reisen for their support in rebooking the ferry when Minoan Lines canceled our crossing!

Beautiful holiday home. Located at the end of a road with no through traffic. Due to its hillside location, you have a dreamy view of the sea. The equipment of the holiday home has already been sufficiently described, so I just confirm briefly: everything is really there, tastefully decorated and in top condition. Within a few minutes' walk, you can reach a beautiful bathing bay with a sandy beach. Very suitable for families with small children, as the water is initially quite shallow. The tavern next door provides sun umbrellas, chairs, and loungers. If you buy a drink, you can use them all day. If you continue along the road past the tavern, a small dirt path leads directly behind it past olive trees to the next bay (eastern end of Valtaki Beach). Here you have the beach almost to yourself. Conclusion: great holiday home in a good location for day trips in the area. The two beaches are within walking distance and diverse (sandy beach for swimming, rocky beach for snorkeling). The only drawback: there are several dogs in the area that like to spend the nights barking. Either you sleep with closed windows and the air conditioning on, or you remember to bring earplugs. ;-)

We were welcomed very warmly. The hosts also gave us olive oil and sweet Greek pastries. Breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the sea - what more could you want..... The location was ideal for us, we saw a lot. The house was a good starting point. In early May, the small bay below was still empty, we even went swimming. The house is decorated with a lot of love and very well equipped (microwave, dishwasher, washing machine). We felt very comfortable.
Petra M.
A beautiful, very lovingly furnished house where we immediately felt comfortable. The many flowers in the garden are a dream, as is the view from all terraces of the serene gulf. The outdoor shower is great. We were welcomed by the very nice landlords with olive oil from their own trees, homemade jam, and cookies. It's just a few steps to the small sandy cove with crystal-clear water - so we swam a round every morning before breakfast. The tavern next door serves delicious food. Gythion is a lively town, on Fridays at the farmers' market you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables from the area. The endless fine sandy beach that begins just before Skala is also great. The Mani region is also quickly accessible. We had a great week!
Ute O.
We felt very comfortable in the house. It is spacious, the garden is lovingly designed and there are wonderful terrace spots. The view of the sea is sensational. The homeowners welcomed us with love, the service provided by the homeowners was very good. The house quickly became a home. Every time we returned from a hike, we looked forward to being "home."
Martina B.
We were welcomed by our hosts very friendly and in good spirits. The house has a very beautiful location with a view of the sea and the approximately 8km distant Yithion. A small bathing bay can be quickly reached on foot. The house is equipped with everything you need and is very lovingly furnished. The garden offers many opportunities for peace and relaxation with its terraces. After a week, fresh laundry was provided, the house was cleaned, and the garden was watered. Our hosts surprised us with homemade jam and olive oil. There are many beautiful places and places to discover nearby. The situation with Covid 19 did not disrupt our holiday plans. Greek Covid 19 measures were observed and gave us a feeling of safety. We would like to come back and thank Jassu Reisen and our hosts. Best regards, Beckmann family
Martina B.
We had two relaxing weeks at the house Alexia. The house is furnished with attention to detail and the three terraces offer plenty of space to relax. The garden and house were well-maintained and very clean. Argius and Pitsa are very kind hosts who gifted us with jam, olive oil, and a special sweet pastry. Tastes great! The small bathing bay is only a few minutes' walk away. And in Gythio, only about 8km away, you can find many taverns with good food.
Andreas F.
Very nice well-kept house with a superb view, very nice landlords who take great care of cleaning, bed linen, and towels. There are also small gifts. We were very satisfied. The nearby village also offers everything you need for daily life and plenty of opportunities to stop by.

A very beautiful, well-kept house in a quiet and relaxing environment. Great location. The house is equipped with everything you need and you feel very comfortable. From here you can explore many interesting sights of the Peloponnese. Highly recommended!

We spent 10 days at Haus Alexia in August 2018. A fantastic holiday home with nothing to complain about. The condition and equipment of the house are top-notch. The view from the terrace is amazing, and the short walk to the small but lovely swimming bay is only 5 minutes. If you don't feel comfortable here, you're doing something wrong. The landlords are warm and friendly, and the homemade fig jam is fantastic! All in all, a dream vacation!!
Petra und Thomas V.
That was the most beautiful holiday home we have ever had. Perfectly equipped, lovingly furnished, super clean, and located in a wonderful garden with several terraces and an outdoor shower. A small, very clean beach is within sight. The view from the loggia to the sea is a dream. The hosts greeted us personally very warmly and spoiled us with their own oil, homemade jam, and cookies. After a week, the place was cleaned and the bed linen and towels were changed. We, in our mid-sixties, with a lot of travel experience, spent a dream vacation there.
Susanne B.
Quiet, beautifully located holiday home, very clean and well equipped. The landlords Pitsa and Argir are very accommodating, friendly and uncomplicated. As a welcome gift, there was olive oil from their own press, fresh jam and cake. THANK YOU :-) Ideal starting point for trips to the Mani, to Mystras and into the hinterland. Fantastic view of the sea.
SiRaLe
Very nice, tastefully furnished holiday home. Kitchen equipped with good appliances and equipment. Very friendly and helpful landlords. The highlight is the terrace with a fantastic view of Gythio and the sea. The beach, small but very clean and sunbeds are free to use (you just need to consume a drink at the tavern) is only a few minutes' walk away. The only small drawback is the missing WiFi and occasional barking of dogs in the neighborhood.
Anette
The view from the terrace is great. The expanse of the sea view and the town of Githeo (6km away) whose lights sparkle on the horizon at night. The house is well equipped - and very creatively and tastefully decorated (the owner has designed all the beautiful and funny things herself). Behind the house is an outdoor shower that even has hot water (solar). There is a large fridge and a great big freezer. (Tip: Freeze bread, then you don't have to go to the bakery in town every day ;-)..) The hosts are very warm and very nice. The little house is a pleasure for relaxing peacefully (there is always some shade on one of the 3 terraces). The small beach below the house is great - in 5 minutes you walk down, coming back is a bit more exhausting because the hill is steep - those who don't want or can't do this can also drive down by car and park at the tavern. The owners of the tavern are friendly and Mom cooks something different from time to time (and for dessert, there is delicious cake as a gift :-) The house Alexia is a place to feel good. We highly recommend it. Cat lovers will get their money's worth. Excursions to Monemvasia, Mani circumnavigation (Vathi), stalactite caves near Aeropoli, many places, bays, and beaches behind Githeo, there is a lot to discover. Greece for Greece enthusiasts.

Natalie B.
We really enjoyed this beautiful house in a unique location. The view from the terrace (which can also be seen inside the house) is fantastic. Sometimes you can even hear the waves of the sea. The village of Gythio is close by, but the tavern at the bottom of the street also has great food. The owners of the house are very nice people and really make you feel at home. The house was very clean and fully equipped. We would like to stay there again.

One of the best accommodations we've ever had. Dream location on a hill with a wonderful view of the water and the opposite Gythio. A very personal decor with many old furnishings and furniture as well as modern additions. Loving decoration made of years of collected beach finds.
Christoph K.
After a tour through the Peloponnese, the three of us spent a week in the holiday house. The view from the terrace of the bay was unique and will stay in our memories for a long time. The house itself also did not disappoint us. The house is very well-equipped so that we didn't miss anything. The house and property are very tastefully furnished and designed. The handover was absolutely uncomplicated, as the couple spoke good English.
Roland M.
A beautifully and lovingly individually equipped house in a wonderful garden that leaves nothing to be desired. The sea view is wonderful and the location is suitable for excursions to the Mani and to Monemvasia. Beautiful beaches are nearby or easy to reach. The landlords are very cordial and explain "their house" in detail.

We inhabited this house together. Wonderful! Lovingly furnished, well-equipped, inside and outside very well maintained and beautifully located. The small beach is only a few minutes' walk away, and Gythio is just a short drive away. Highly recommended!

Beautiful holiday home. Situated at the end of a road with no through traffic. Due to the hillside location, you have a fantastic view of the sea.
There have already been enough reports on the equipment of the holiday home, so I will just briefly confirm: everything is really there, tastefully furnished and in top condition.
It is only a few minutes' walk to a beautiful bay with a sandy beach. Very suitable for families with small children, as the water is quite shallow at the beginning. The taverna next door provides umbrellas, chairs and sunbeds. If you buy a drink, you can use them all day.

Conclusion: a great holiday home in a good location for day trips in the area. The two beaches are within walking distance and varied (sandy beach for swimming, rocky beach for snorkelling).
The only drawback: there are quite a few dogs in the area who like to spend their nights barking. Either you sleep with the windows closed and the air conditioning running, or you think about wearing earplugs ;-)

The house is fantastically situated, from the terrace you have a wonderful view of the sea. The house is lovingly furnished and offers enough space for 5 people. The landlords are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The surrounding area offers numerous possibilities for excursions in the near and far surroundings. We spent very relaxing and varied days and would gladly come back anytime.

Our hosts surprised us with homemade jam and olive oil. There are many beautiful places to explore nearby. The situation with Covid 19 did not disrupt our holiday. Very clean, lovingly and tastefully furnished, everything very well thought out. Magnificent view from the terrace. 5 minutes walk to an idyllic bathing bay. Quiet location.....perfect for a great holiday !

We had a wonderful stay in a fantastically beautiful, lovingly furnished house, where we were very warmly welcomed by our sympathetic hosts. We immediately felt at home and would have loved to stay there longer. Everything was so stylishly and lovingly furnished, the terraces, the garden, the view over the bay a dream. Everything was just perfect. Thank you very much!
Ute O.
We felt very comfortable in the house. It is generously furnished, the garden is lovingly designed and there are wonderful terraces. The view of the sea is sensational. The house owners welcomed us with love, the service by the house owners was very good. The house quickly became a home away from home. When we returned from a hike, we looked forward to "home" every time.

A beautiful, very lovingly furnished house in which we immediately felt at home. The many flowers in the garden are a dream, as is the view of the Laconic Gulf from all the terraces. The outdoor shower is great.
We were welcomed by the very nice landlords with olive oil from their own trees, homemade jam and biscuits.
It is only a few steps to the small sandy bay with crystal clear water - so we swam a round every morning before breakfast. The taverna next door serves delicious food.
Gythion is a lively little town, and on Fridays you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the surrounding area at the farmers' market.
The endless fine sandy beach that starts just before Skala is also great. The Mani can also be reached quickly.
We had a great week!

The house is beautifully situated above the bay of Gythio. The landlords are extremely friendly, helpful and obliging. The check-in and check-out went smoothly. The furnishings and appearance correspond to the pictures and the description on the homepage. The location is very quiet, here you can really switch off from the stress of everyday life. We would stay here again at any time!
Katharina L.
We had a wonderful holiday in this charming house with its fantastic sea view!
The house is very well maintained, lovingly furnished and equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday, so you should be fine even if you are travelling by plane with limited luggage.
The owners, a very nice elderly couple who also speak a little English, are very attentive to the well-being of their guests - pampering with homemade olive oil, biscuits or jam and always having an open ear if you need anything else. They regularly come by to change bed linen, clean and water the garden (times can be arranged).
A few more practical notes:
The terrace is fully covered with two fabric awnings, so moderate rain is kept off well (it rained for a few days in August).
The neighbouring house Amanda is well protected from view by bushes; however, conversations at a normal volume can be easily heard from the neighbouring terrace - you should be aware of this.
Below the house is a small bathing bay with a sandy beach and calm, shallow water - well suited for children and non-swimmers. Footpath approx. 400 m, access next to the neighbouring taverna to which the beach belongs. You can use sunbeds and parasols free of charge if you buy a drink. The taverna itself is a friendly family business with good food and moderate prices (some dishes are not translated on the menu - just ask!) and sometimes family parties with music until the morning..
The house is an ideal starting point for exploring the southern Peloponnese (for the ancient sites in the north, a location in the north is probably more suitable due to the journey of several hours).
Gythio (about 15 minutes away by car) is an authentic little harbour town where life still belongs to the locals even in summer. There is all the necessary infrastructure (supermarkets, doctors, enough tavernas around the harbour...), but without seeming "touristy".
If you are looking for a holiday among Greeks away from the big tourist crowds, this is the place for you.
At this point, a big thank you to Jassu-Reisen for their support with the ferry rebooking when Minoan-Lines cancelled our crossing!
Sabine S.
thank you very much for recommending the house Alexia on the Peloponnese. The house was very beautiful, the sea view fantastic. The landlord was very nice. Everything was perfect, we had a great, relaxing week again on the Peloponnese.
