The North Sea spa Norden-Norddeich is worth a visit at any time of the year. The highest state tourism recognition level as a health spa was awarded to the place in 2010. Norddeich's unique attraction is the Wadden Sea - designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009 - and home not only to the lugworm but to countless birds and seals. Norden-Norddeich, the green gateway to the sea, benefits from its location in a zone with a high stimulating climate, the mudflat climate, as well as the coastal climate. The wind usually comes from the west, directly from the North Sea, thus guaranteeing pleasant humidity and extraordinary air purity.

Sporting activities include dyke walks and walks in the flat inland areas, and of course mudflat walks, just something into the mudflats with children or with a mudflat guide to the islands of Norderney or Baltrum. Cycling tours on the many well-maintained cycle paths inland or on the dyke routes towards Neu-Harlingersiel via Neßmersiel and Dornumersiel or in the other direction to Emden via Greetsiel and Campen are also popular. But perhaps it could also be a paddle tour to Leybuchtsiel. Horse riding, kiting and surfing, splashing, bathing and swimming at high tide, tennis, golf, minnigolf and go-karting are not all the other ways to keep fit.

Norden, four kilometres from the coast and one of the oldest towns in East Frisia with many historic buildings, invites visitors to take a leisurely stroll in the pedestrian zone. Places of interest are the famous tea museum and the Ludgeri church. Every December, the church hosts an interesting Low German nativity play with live animals on the market square. The inhabitants of Norden are called Norder, or Nörder in Low German. "Moin" (chatty people sometimes also say "Moin Moin") is a greeting used in East Frisia at all times of the day and night. The writer Klaus-Peter Wolf, who is well-known beyond Germany, also lives in Norden. Many of his East Frisian crime stories have been made into films. But don't worry, murders are not the order of the day in reality and in the crime stories the perpetrators are always caught

If you don't want to spend a lazy afternoon on your own balcony, on the sandy beach or in one of Norddeich's many gastronomic establishments, you can enrich your holiday with experiences at the seal breeding station and the Walosseum or next door at the car museum. Furthermore, the wave pool "Ocean Wave" or the adventure golf course are inviting

Even more variety can be found in the surrounding area, with its castles, palaces, parks such as Lütetsburg, other museums such as the Henri Nannen Art Gallery in Emden, other old churches with famous organs and lighthouses. The smallest but probably best known is the "Otto lighthouse" near Greetsiel, the highest in Germany is the one not far away near Campen. And on the way to Norddeich, behind Emden, you pass Suurhusen, where the world's most leaning church tower (not in Pisa) stands.
It's always interesting to take a look at the ferry or fishing harbour with its shrimp boats and maybe even take a day trip to Norderney or Juist.

Norddeich update
What's new in Norddeich? Information for holidaymakers who know Norddeich but have not been there in recent years.
The fact that there is a direct ferry connection to Helgoland during the season is new but probably one of the less spectacular innovations.
The most eye-catching is the new water's edge. Four sea terraces and the mudflat window are among the many new attractions since 2021/22. The promenade has been widened and raised for a better all-round view. Benches and LED light bollards everywhere, modern showers, foot showers and a new toilet facility. The dune landscape was enlarged and upgraded. Several newly laid wooden boardwalks lead through the dunes to the beach. An interactive dune nature trail and the new salt marsh landscape are part of the health parcour. Oversized playground equipment such as a lugworm slide, climbing crab and sea spider are reserved for the little ones, but the sporty adults are also catered for with numerous fitness machines.
Promenading on the new paths in the dunes, on the dyke and on the beach is now a romantic pleasure and a special experience even in the dark thanks to the generous LED lighting and enjoy the wonderful views of the islands of Juist and Norderney. In the distance you can still see the wind turbines at the Dutch mouth of the Ems and perhaps catch a glimpse of the light signals from the Borkum lighthouse.

Guidelines

Advice by the landlord

check-in: 16:00
check-out: 10:00
rental deposit: 25 % at time of booking
final payment: 2 week before arrival

additional information about rental price:

Visitor's tax € 2.50 per person over 16 years and day (€ 1.20 in winter)

Cancellation terms:

Cancellation/Termination a) The landlord and our rental service may terminate the lease without notice in cases of force majeure (water, storm, or fire damage, etc.) and other unforeseeable events. b) Rental agreements that are entered into for a short period are generally only terminable for good cause (§ 542 II BGB). This means that the tenant is not exempted from paying the rent simply because he is prevented from exercising his right of use due to reasons attributable to him personally. In other words, the rent is always due, regardless of when the tenant cancels (§ 537 I BGB). The landlord/rental service must offset any income from re-renting the property. Therefore, the tenant may need to pay the rent, even though he could not or did not want to use the rental object. If re-renting the property succeeds, the tenant has to pay 10% of the original rent price as a flat fee to the rental service to compensate for the additional effort. Otherwise, the following cancellation fees apply: Cancellation fee of 20% of the travel price immediately after booking Cancellation fee of 30% of the travel price four weeks before the start of the trip Cancellation fee of 80% of the travel price two weeks before the start of the trip Cancellation fee of 100% of the travel price one week before the start of the trip Cancellation generally requires written form. We recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance!

Even more variety can be found in the surrounding area, with its castles, palaces, parks such as Lütetsburg, other museums such as the Henri Nannen Art Gallery in Emden, other old churches with famous organs and lighthouses. The smallest but probably best known is the "Otto lighthouse" near Pilsum (Greetsiel), the highest in Germany is the one not far away near Campen. And on the way to Norddeich, behind Emden, you pass Suurhusen, where the world's most leaning church tower (not in Pisa) stands.
In the municipality of Krummhörn stands the accessible Campen lighthouse. It is one of the highest lighthouses in the world. And in Westerholt there is also a walk-in wind turbine with a magnificent view over East Frisia.
A museum railway occasionally runs on the Norden - Dornum line. And for just one euro per person, you can take the "holiday bus", which is a regular bus, through the districts of Aurich (this includes Norden), Friesland, Leer, Wittmund and Ammerland, as well as the cities of Emden and Wilhelmshaven.
It is always interesting to take a look at the operations in the Norddeich ferry or fishing harbour with the shrimp cutters and perhaps even take a day trip to Norderney or Juist and, more recently in the season, to Helgoland.

If you don't know East Frisia yet, you may now have got a bit of an appetite to spend your holiday here, otherwise please take a look at the photos you took yourself of Norden-Norddeich.
And if the accommodation is just right, then nothing can go wrong.

We look forward to your booking and wish you a wonderful holiday already now.

Prime location!

The apartment is equipped with all the important amenities one needs. I searched in vain for the measuring cup, but that was the smallest problem, and there is even a Senseo coffee machine that was hidden in the cupboard. It was very clean, and the apartment is very cozily furnished. It was just a few minutes' walk to the dike and the shopping mile. The key handover and everything else was no problem. Mrs. Zengin was very friendly. But you could always reach Mrs. Hahn in case of problems. But we had none, right?
Where we had problems was with arrival. We didn't find the house right away because there were many walkers passing by and the house number was not immediately visible.
We were there for 4 nights and we will definitely come back.
Best regards

Beautiful flat - good location!

We stayed in this beautiful flat for 7 days and felt very comfortable. Everything was just right. The flat was very tastefully and functionally furnished, everything important was there - we didn't miss anything. And the big advantage of this flat was the exposed location, which simply couldn't be better - it was only a short distance to the bakery next door and to several restaurants in the immediate vicinity. And it was only 200 metres to the dyke walk. We were very satisfied all around and will gladly come back one day!

Sehr nahe zum Deich

There is enough space for two people, good beds, and everything necessary available. Upon arrival, we were informed about emptying the dishwasher upon departure, which we did not find, also an egg cooker and egg cups would have been nice. With the cleaning supplies and equipment provided, achieving a pleasant level of cleanliness was not a problem.

Answer from Family U. Dr.Hahn:

Vielen Dank für die konstruktive Kritik. Wir haben jetzt die Agentur gewechselt und hoffen, dass es in Zukunft keine Probleme mit der Sauberkeit mehr gibt. Eierbecher waren vorhanden, aber der Eierkocher, der eigentlich vorhanden sein sollte, fehlte tatsächlich. Wir haben ihn inzwischen ersetzt. Die Spülmaschine war eine Erfindung der "alten" Agentur.

We have had the flat since 2014 and the neighbouring flat, which we use almost exclusively ourselves, for a good 15 years. Even though we are often in Norddeich, we naturally cannot take care of the on-site support ourselves. Therefore, we have commissioned a professional agency based in Norddeich, with whom you also do the rental contract and the billing and from whom you get keys, bed linen, etc. Your data will only be passed on to the agency when you reserve the flat
