Description
The Casa "Papaya 1" ( above sea level in the beautiful village of "Breña Alta") has a living room with well-equipped kitchen (coffee machine, toaster, kettle, microwave with oven), dining table and sitting area by the cosy electric fireplace, a large bed with continuous mattress (160x200) and a separate single bed (090x200) in the bedroom, 1 bed for 2 persons in the beautiful wooden gallery (140x2 00), cupboards, shelves and a large mirror. The bathroom has a shower, cosmetic mirror and hairdryer. From the wooden gallery you can reach the partially covered terrace with mountain and sea views with 2 sun beds, dining table and barbecue. Cot and high chair are available (on request)
The house has 2 electric heaters for more comfort and accessories of all kinds, including information about the island, beach toys, beach towels (on request), books, board games and a CD player with radio. Bluetooth / USB and a large collection of CDs. Also WIFI and SMART TV.
The partially covered terrace with a wonderful view of the mountains and the sea invites you to have a sunny breakfast or barbecue.
The "Casa Papaya 1" (approx. 70m2 plus large partly covered terrace) is perfect for large families! In combination with "Casa Papaya 2" (approx. 55 m² plus large terrace and private garden, also advertised here at ), a total of 9 people (children up to 12 years stay for free) can be accommodated, so it is perfect if the grandparents or friends come with on holiday, each has his own apartment, but in the same building.
The washing machine can be used free of charge and there are 2 covered washing lines.
In the common garden you can observe my numerous turtles, visit our spoiled cats or harvest herbs like basil, parsley, sage, rosemary, lemon verbena or peppermint.
Pets up to 15 kg are welcome (up to 15kg, 8€/night, 200€ deposit)

The house is located in a small, quiet village in the municipality of Breña Alta, about 350m above sea level.
It is possible to buy organic fruit and vegetables within about a 20-minute walk, and a very well-stocked supermarket is only a 10-minute walk away.
The nearest town can be reached after 1.5 km. There you will find several ATMs, a health food store, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, bars, gas station, post office and other shops as well as a very good ice cream factory (Helados Taburiente). Directly in front of the house begins one of the island's most famous hiking trails, the "Camino de las Fuentes." Also beautiful places like the famous dragon trees of Breña Alta ("Dragos gemelos", 10 minutes on foot), the cigar museum and the museum of the Cross Festival, the farmers' markets of Breña Alta and Mazo, the beautiful beach of "Los Cancajos", the viewpoint of "La Concepción" with a view of the capital and the south of the island, the famous and sweet grill restaurant "Chipi Chipi", the capital Santa Cruz (only 15 minutes by car away) with its beautiful old town, the island and the ship museum, the fantastic city market, etc. Also near the house, in "Las Nieves", you can visit the most important church on the island. Just one step further, you will find the road up to the Roque de los Muchachos, where one of the most important observatories in the world is located.
The island's airport and port are only 15 minutes away by car, without you hearing or noticing anything of them.

Here is the translation to English: The full amount is to be paid 29 days before arrival. If the booking is cancelled after this, the amount can be used for a stay at another time (in any of the three holiday homes on the finca), or the credit can be transferred to friends or relatives.

A bus stop is about 5 minutes walk from the house and you can easily order taxis almost to the house. I recommend a rental car as this is the best way to explore the island.
The hiking trails (more than 1000 km!) are well signposted.

Holiday flat with lots of charm in a beautiful location
We spent a very nice week from 14.03. - 21.03.23 as a couple at Finca Suculenta, house Papaya 1, in the hills of Brena Alta in the immediate vicinity of San Pedro. We had made a very good choice of both the holiday home and the holiday resort.
House Papaya1 is a beautiful, quiet, recently renovated and self-contained flat as part of Finca Suculenta with lots of charm and lovely planting around the house and on the terraces. From the house you have a wonderful view over the hills of Brena Alta as well as to the sea. The friendly and very helpful landlady had many tips and was always quickly accessible. A small supermarket nearby is within walking distance and it is only 2 km to San Pedro, the main town of the municipality of Brena Alta. The seaside resort of Los Cancajos with its quite beautiful beach can be reached in about 10 minutes by car (in good weather, as everywhere in La Palma, the few shady sunbathing spots become scarce; otherwise the beach was only pleasantly loosely frequented during our holiday period). Santa Cruz can also be reached quickly by car.

Delighted with our stay with family!
Without a doubt, the best connection and harmony with the hostess we have had. A pleasure to meet Lucy!
Casa Papaya 1 is a very cozy house. We have felt at home and have been very comfortable with our three children. A charming house, full of details, in a very quiet place surrounded by greenery and nature, ideal for resting after excursions around the beautiful island of La Palma. At the same time, very well located, close to everything and with supermarkets and necessities nearby. Lucy contacted us before the trip, advising us on routes, restaurants, places of interest, and all kinds of notes on sites and corners of La Palma. Very good communication and coordination for everything and even a guide at all times, very willing and always available for everything.
A pleasure to have met the house and the hostess. We have not lacked anything.
We will repeat the island and the house!!

Absolute Herzensempfehlung!
Wir waren ca. 1 Monat Gast in der Casa Papaya 1 und vom ersten Moment an voll begeistert!
Sowohl von den wunderbar gemütlichen, sowie detailliert und liebevoll eingerichteten Räumlichkeiten, also auch von der kompetenten, hilfsbereiten und sympathischen Gastgeberin. Das Haus ist sauber, super ausgestattet, wunderschön und absolut wetterfest - auf der Insel eine Seltenheit!
Lucy hat auf alle Fragen eine Antwort und stand uns mit Rat und Tat immer zur Seite. Ihre netten Aufmerksamkeiten haben uns den Aufenthalt noch extra versüßt!

A little dream
I stayed in this beautiful flat for a week in November 2019. It is simply fantastic when the sun rises hidden behind the Teide. I did not miss this spectacle with a cup of coffee every morning. The flat is furnished in a cosy Palmerian style. My wife felt like a princess on a pea in bed. Nothing is missing in the comfortable furnishings. And should you need anything, Lucy, the landlady, is there to provide it. Should the weather be bad, which is very rare, Lucy will cheer up the guests with her "Berlin brat charm". Lucy also helps in emergency situations, as we did in February 2021 when our flight was cancelled. One phone call and we were able to stay overnight. Thank you very much again. We have become so fond of Lucy that we have invited her to Berlin. But she never has time because the well-being of her guests comes first.
