The Holiday home

Nestled in mature olive groves above Avlaki Bay, with breathtaking views over the headlands of North East Corfu and the lighthouse on the islet of Kaparelli, Villa Aurora provides the perfect setting for a wonderful family holiday.

Set in an acre of grounds, with mature gardens, Aurora offers exclusivity and seclusion yet all essential holiday amenities are nearby. The unspoiled beach of Avlaki, with its crystal-clear water and two excellent tavernas, is within walking distance, whilst the fashionable restaurants of Agios Stefanos and the lively resort of Kassiopi are only a few minutes’ drive. Dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kayaks and paddle boards are available on Avlaki beach.

Aurora is contemporarily furnished and provides spacious, well-equipped accommodation. The villa’s many communal and individual private spaces make it ideal for families holidaying together.

Villa Aurora is registered for holiday rentals with the Greek National Tourist Office, EOT licence number 0829K10TK8213001. The owner and local management team have more than ten year's experience managing Aurora and we are very pleased to have many clients that regularly return and have written appreciative reviews.

Access to the swimming pool may be controlled via a gate. Air-conditioning is provided in all bedrooms and considerate usage included in the price. A Wi-Fi network is provided throughout the villa.

French doors from the kitchen lead to a covered outdoor veranda with views over the garden to the Avlaki headland, the Erimitis "an area of outstanding natural beauty". The comfortable seating area is the regular spot for relaxing and discussing the important issues of the day like “where are we eating tonight”? There are many wonderful to tavernas to choose from but, should you decide to eat in, the dining table on the verandah extends to seat 10 people comfortably, perfect for that freshly prepared lunch or barbecued supper.

Swimming pool
Steps from the veranda lead down to a large terrace area by the swimming pool (10x5m, depth 1.0-1.9m). A gate at the top of the stairs can be secured to restrict access. The sun loungers may be shaded from the mid-day sun by the olive trees and parasol. The pool can be warmed via an air source heat pump in early and late season for an additional charge of €100 per week. The gardens, lovingly cared for by Yianni, are well stocked with indigenous plants including lavender, rosemary, oleander, jasmine, mimosa, plumbago, nerium and agapanthus providing seasonal colour and fragrance to complete the setting.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms
There are two double and two twin bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, ample storage and access to a balcony which runs the length of the villa.
Each bedroom has an ensuite basin and wc. Three bathrooms have showers. The villa benefits from modern plumbing arrangements - toilet paper may be flushed! Please place any other items in bins provided. Air conditioning for the bedrooms is included in the rental price, subject to fair usage. Location and surroundings of object

The road that leads to Aurora continues as an unmade track through the olive groves to Avlaki bay. The crystal-clear waters and white pebble beach are intoxicating. Sun beds and umbrellas are available and the two excellent tavernas will keep you replete throughout the day. Hiring a motorboat is a fun way to explore the idyllic coves that are the signature of North East Corfu’s beauty. Agios Spyridon, a slowly shelving sandy beach on North coast (ideal for children), is only a short drive.

Greek Sailing Holidays, established in Corfu in 1995, offers dinghy sailing and windsurfing hire and tuition in the warm Mediterranean holiday environment of Avlaki. The light winds in the mornings are ideal for sailing instruction. Fresher conditions prevail in the afternoon enabling novices to practice their newly acquired skills and challenging opportunities for more experienced sailors.

Villa Aurora is situated on Corfu's exclusive North East Coast, affectionately referred to as "Kensington-on-Sea" in ITV's documentary "Corfu: A Tale of Two Islands", 38km from Corfu town/airport. All other amenities are close by. Avlaki beach 800m, 10 min walk, down an unmade track through olive groves or 2.5km via road. Sinies: supermarket, bakery, yummy cake shop, village taverna, 2km; Agios Stefanos: tavernas, 2.5km; Kassiopi: tavernas, bars, shops, 3km; Agios Spiridon: sandy beach, 8km.

The highlight of any Greek holiday has to be sitting in a water’s edge taverna, on a warm summer evening, savouring freshly prepared local produce. Conveniently, Villa Aurora is located close to some of the best restaurants and tavernas in northeast Corfu. Just below the villa on Avlaki bay are Cavo Barbaro and Avlaki Taverna, both serving freshly cooked local produce.

The picturesque bay of Agios Stefanos is a short drive (taxi ride), where there is an excellent choice of water-front restaurants, tavernas and bars, including Eucalyptus Taverna, Kaparelli Taverna run by Costas and Galini Taverna run by Nikos. There are one or two bars where teenagers can retreat whilst their parents enjoy a local coffee.

Drive through Agios Stefanos to the beautiful bay of Kerasia. This is a favourite for swimming and there is a small cafe and wonderful Taverna run by Petros. Make sure you mention you are from the "original" Villa Aurora.

The small fishing port of Kassiopi offers an even greater variety of tavernas and bars and one or two nightclubs including The Wave Bar. Tavernaki on the harbour front, Petrino and Little Italy are amongst our favourites. For a special treat Trilogia Restaurant provides excellent food and magnificent sunsets.

A fun alternative is to travel to Agni by water taxi from Agios Stefanos where there are three famous waterside restaurants: Taverna Agni, Toula’s and Nikolas, each outstanding in different ways.

For those very special celebrations catering arrangements can include delivery of a freshly prepared supper or the assistance of a local cook to prepare a meal for you. Our house manager would be pleased to discuss your individual requirements.

The recently refurbished Hydropolis water park is situated on the north coast of the island, attached to Gelina Village & Resort near Acharavi, about 20 minutes’ drive. The larger Aqualand water theme park, at Agios Ioannis in the centre of Corfu, is approximately one-hour’s drive is great fun for all the family.

A complementary welcome pack containing basic essentials is provided. Local supermarkets are a five minute's drive - Yannis Sinies Market provides on-line shopping facilities and delivery to the villa.

We started holidaying in Greece when our children were young as we were always assured of a friendly welcome. We had heard so much about the beauty of North East Coast and arrived in Avlaki by chance some 20 years ago. The peaceful, sheltered bay with its crystal clear water obviously left a lasting impression. Having visited, and thoroughly enjoyed many other Greek islands, fait drew us back to Avlaki and we realised the benefit of instant relaxation when returning to somewhere you have visited before. Avlaki has hardly changed since, except for the gradual development of privately owned villas in the olive groves above the bay, one of which we are extremely fortunate to own.

What a wonderful property in a fabulous location - just idyllic for a grewat holiday.
The house and grounds are a very high standard with lovely views across the water towards Albania. Pool is a perfect size for swimming those lengths to work up an appetite for a great dinner either at the house or at one of the many privately owned restaurants nearby - hard to choose which one to go to as they are all delicious.
The layout of the house works well with various areas for sitting, dining, chatting wiht friends or finding a secluded corner to read your book.
Will definitely return for another fabulous holiday - thank you

Beautiful Villa Aurora

from Clare C. from Shipston on Stour

5 5 5 5 5

travel period: August 2019

Villa Aurora is beautiful villa in a stunning setting not far from Avlaki Bay. We stayed as a family of five and we thought it was perfect.

The villa is exceedingly well appointed, with everything you might need for a family holiday. The kitchen has everything you might need to cook up a delicious meal, and there is also barbeque by the pool side which we was fantastic for eating al fresco. There is a dishwasher and washing machine which was a definite bonus.

During the day we spent a great deal of our time in the pool, or relaxing on sun loungers. We also went down into Avlaki and hired kayaks to explore the bay. We also hired a motor boat and took a trip down the coast line passed the Rothchild Estate, and saw The White House (The Durrells) from the sea.

Inside, the air conditioning keeps the villa wonderfully cool over the summer months. The villa is kept clean and is beautifully maintained by the wonderful staff who will visit twice a week to service the villa. Throughout our stay, we were supplied with fresh linen and towels twice weekly.

Very pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Hiring a motor boat is a great day out. There are some amazing villas by the sea, some great bays to swim in and a splendid choice of tavernas for lunch.
Look forward to your return next year.

The villa is an extremely attractive, large and comfortable home, set in a wonderful location. The views are stunning. The villa has an array of different places to socialise; areas so large everyone can chat and hang together, off set by little secluded areas for quiet reading or a cheeky nap.
The villa worked very well for us as we had three generations all together to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. My parents needed the high level of comfort and privacy which the luxurious rooms offered and my children, now teenagers loved the swimming pool, table tennis and still having reliable Wi-Fi so they didn’t lose touch with their friends. (Although there was so much to do, that they used their devices infrequently, this was great.)
The villa was very well equipped for eating in, with loads of space to eat alfresco or cozy up inside. We used the BBQ on a few occasions and stayed up late playing cards into the night. We went to a lot of nice eateries but particularly enjoyed brunches, lunches and evening meals at Cavo Barbaro at Avlaki beach.
The cleaner came in twice a week, a real luxury, we always returned to find the place looking immaculate and beds all beautifully made, with clean bath and beach towels.
The pool is a good size, and suited all, from energetic morning swim to cooling off dips and lazing around on a lilo. It was always beautifully clean and looked fabulous lit up at night.
We enjoyed all the beaches we went to, finding a great sandy beach not too far away and at Avlaki beach we all had fun using the villa’s kayaks which are housed at the sailing school. The children went out fishing for the day (a little expensive) but it was enormous fun and they returned with food for the night!

The sort of location that relaxes you as soon as you arrive. Beautiful views from the many terraces and swimming pool area. Spacious and well equipped villa, should you be wanting to self cater. If not you can wander down the path to the Avlaki beach/bay(about 10 mins) and enjoy the hospitality at the local taverna (Cavo Barbaro). You have access to a couple of villa kayaks at the beach. There is also plenty of coastal walking nearby. The villa owner is a real gentlemen and very accommodating. I'll definitely be returning.

Villa Aurora ticks all the boxes...

from Gavin from Oxfordshire

travel period: July 2018

We have recently returned from 3 fantastic weeks at Villa Aurora. This is the third year running we have booked this villa despite never returning to the same property for any other holiday over the last 20+ years. Next year, due to a family commitment, we cannot return to Villa Aurora. As we sat in the property towards the end of our holiday considering options, we concluded that the reason we love this villa so much is because it ticks all the boxes on our holiday wish list. Why would you go anyway else and leave this to chance? The house is spotlessly clean, has great facilities including an excellent pool, well equipped kitchen and a high standard of furnishings throughout. The outdoor space is excellent with plenty of places in the shade or sun to relax or enjoy the truly spectacular view. Location is also high on our list of needs and in our view, you just cannot beat this area of Corfu with great beaches nearby, a huge selection of restaurants, fabulous scenery and plenty to do. This time we went on a day trip to Paxos (a ferry and a hire car rather than a tourist boat!), hired a boat for a day, used the kayak that belongs to the Villa and went to Corfu Town. All of which left us with great memories of our trip. Finally, Charles has been a pleasure to deal with over the last four years. Nothing is too much trouble and he is always available to answer any questions that we have had. If the owner cares about the quality of your holiday as much as you do then you are very likely to have a good time. We will miss Villa Aurora next year but for others considering filling our place, this property comes with our highest recommendation. Enjoy! The Jones Family P.S. Our suggestion last year for the addition of a drinks fridge was delivered this year so if you are hot and thirsty, this is also now fully covered!

Beautiful Property, beautiful area!

from Jenny from Shropshire

travel period: September 2018

Villa Aurora was fantastic. Once we arrived (came up the wrong track to the house!...oops, very bumpy ride, but that was totally our fault for letting the sat nav take us that way!......) Should have kept to the brilliant directions given by Charles!..... Once we arrived and greeted by the lovely Yannis, we were all so pleased with the lovely Villa. It was so clean and welcoming, and the most amazing views across to Albania, we knew we were in for a wonderful week. The kids spent most of their time in the swimming pool, and Adults, a lot of time reading on the balcony. There is plenty of places to find a quite spot, and just relax. When the kids weren't in the pool they were in their own little cinema room, watching movies. We ate out quite a lot, and loved the 2 restaurants in Avlaki Bay, and surrounding areas. the food from the supermarkets is incredibly expensive, so definitely worth a small detour to one of the larger supermarkets before arrival...... All in all we would definitely recommend the Villa, its in such a beautiful spot, and the easy access to what we think is the most beautiful part of Corfu.

As good as it looks and as all the reviews describe!

from Mary from Bristol

travel period: September 2018

This was an attractive, spacious, comfortable and practical home in a wonderful location. We loved the views. The villa worked very well for us as grandparents, son, daughter and spouses with a toddler and 3 year old grandsons. It was safe for the children, and very well equipped for them and the adults. It was great not having to bring swimming towels in our luggage because they are provided. We had perfect weather with warm sunbathing sun every day and cooler evenings. We used the BBQ one evening and ate a main meal out on the other days. The pool is a good size, beautifully clean and looked fabulous lit up at night. We enjoyed all the beaches we went to. For the children we visited the sandy beaches of Agios Spyridon and Kalamaki which both had plenty of shallows for them to play in. We also enjoyed Avlaki, Kouloura and Karasia beaches. At Avlaki we had fun using the villa’s kayak which is housed at the sailing school. We also drove up to Old Perithia enjoying the stunning views en route. Every meal out locally was good - we most enjoyed Cavo Barbaro at Avlaki and the delightful fish taverna at Kouloura that we remembered from our previous visit to the area. For shopping - we bought bread from the Sinies traditional baker and amazing baklava from the patisserie there before it closed at the end of the season. The supermarket there was pricey so we largely used Nicos on the main road near Kassiopi which makes their own excellent tzatziki. Generally we found food to be costly compared with the UK. Hopefully we’ll be back soon for another very relaxing holiday.
