The Mühlenhof is a large, former farm with two barns, situated on a huge, 5-hectare property with woods, meadows and 2 streams. It is located in the valley of the Wilde Weißeritz near Altenberg and is surrounded by a unique natural landscape where there is still much to discover. Since 2019, the Osterzgebirge has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its special features. Even today, the mill stream splashes down into the valley next to the house. The two accommodation units for 5 and 7 people are located on the upper floor and are attractively furnished. On the ground floor there is a small, sparse flat and a spacious sauna with an anteroom where guests can use an exercise bike (ergometer). The spacious outdoor area with garden furniture (tables, chairs, loungers), table tennis table, children's swing, barbecue and a beautiful fireplace by the mill stream offers plenty of space on all sides. Accommodation unit 1 is for max. 5 persons and has a nice, large living room with kitchenette and sofa bed for one person, a double room, a bedroom with bunk bed and a bathroom with shower. Accommodation unit 2 is for max. 7 persons and has a nice, large living room with kitchenette, 3 double rooms, a single room, a bathroom with shower and a balcony with a beautiful view.

Location and surroundings of object
The Mühlenhof has a great, quiet, single location in the valley of the Wilder Weißeritz, only a few kilometres from the Kneipp spa town of Altenberg and the border to the Czech Republic. The landscape and nature reserve of Saxon Switzerland/Eastern Ore Mountains is one of the most beautiful low mountain ranges in Germany. The Mühlenhof is an ideal starting point for extensive hikes in the magnificent, varied surroundings with elevations between 600 and 900 metres. Let us surprise you with the variety of ways you can spend your holiday or short stay at the Mühlenhof. In the midst of unspoilt nature with a healing stimulating climate, you can relax and unwind, in summer as well as in winter. It is the ideal area for hikers or mountain bikers. Popular destinations are the Georgenfelder Hochmoor, the Kohlhaukuppe, Geising- and Kahleberg as well as the observation tower in Oberbärenburg
There is an extensive network of well-signposted trails with distance information. In the Raupennest health centre in Altenberg you will find a spacious bathing and sauna area and right next to it a wonderful bathing lake with a giant slide and nudist area. Other open-air swimming pools are in Geising, the free swimming pool in Hermsdorf, which is only 3 km away, or the natural swimming pool with volleyball court in Schönfeld. In winter there are numerous slopes with 6 T-bar lifts, a double chair lift and a "magic carpet" (children's and beginners' lift), 70 km of groomed cross-country ski trails and ski hiking trails, toboggan runs and trails for snowshoe hikes in the snowy countryside. In the Gründelstadion Geising you can choose between ice skating, ice hockey, curling or curling. The luge and bobsleigh track in Kohlgrund is famous beyond national borders. The atmosphere at the annual world cups and international championships is thrilling. The biathlon facility in Zinnwald's Hofmannsloch is also the scene of exciting competitions. Here, big and small can toboggan to their heart's content. Track-free potato mash is the name of the game on the 120 m long toboggan run in Altenberg, the m long natural toboggan run at the double chairlift in Rehefeld or on the 250 m long toboggan slope in Schellerhau. You will also find excellent tobogganing opportunities in Oberbärenburg, Bärenfels, Bärenstein, Zinnwald, and Geising.

Enjoy a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered Osterzgebirge mountains or a Kremser ride in summer along flowering herb meadows and through dense forests. A Saxon Himalaya - the 14 eight-thousand-metre peaks in the Osterzgebirge. Here, however, the peaks are measured in decimetres and so there is a great and interesting hiking tour linking the Erzgebirge "eight-thousanders". In the Schellerhau Botanical Garden, there are nine naturally adapted sound objects at selected locations that invite visitors to play and experiment. They convey the connection between music, mathematics and nature in a playful way. The visitor mine in Zinnwald, opened in 1992, offers lasting impressions of the miner's working world underground. The three-kilometre-long tour takes you underground right up to the German-Czech border.
The Weißeritzbahn - what an experience! A nostalgic ride on the oldest narrow-gauge railway in public operation, daily steam locomotive service in beautiful unspoilt nature - you can enjoy all this on a trip on the Weißeritztalbahn.
The narrow-gauge railway has been steaming on 750 mm gauge since 1882 and is considered one of the most beautiful railway lines in Europe because of its scenic diversity.

Quiet location, only accessible by car, cleanliness takes some getting used to.
The old farmhouse is very well suited for use by two families. The large kitchen even has enough space for shared meals. There is also an additional lounge area. The cleanliness of the accommodation was inadequate upon arrival, and the landlord's willingness to help was unfortunately lacking as well. After we thoroughly vacuumed all the rooms and wiped down the surfaces, we felt comfortable. The sauna also had to be cleaned before we could use it. Maybe the cleanliness will improve, otherwise we would not book the accommodation again.

Bei 23 Buchungen in diesem Jahr gab es keine Probleme bzw. Beschwerden bezüglich der Sauberkeit. Der Mühlenhof ist ein großer, alter Bauernhof und keine Villa. Die beiden Wohneinheiten mit 2 umfangreich ausgestatteten Küchen, 2 Bädern und 6 Schlafräumen sind nicht einfach zu reinigen, besonders in der kurzen Zeit zwischen Abreise und Anreise. Insofern darf man nicht mit der Lupe hinschauen. Spinnweben, um die es auch ging, sind in Windeseile wieder da.
Abhilfe konnte ich leider nicht schaffen, da die Frau, die für den Service zuständig ist mit ihren Kindern in den Ferien war. Ich habe mich für die Unannehmlichkeit entschuldigt und Frank H. als kleine Entschädigung ein Kochbuch geschickt. Da die Gäste das Feriendomizil sauber verlassen haben, wurde ihnen die hinterlegte Gebühr für die Endreinigung zurückgezahlt.
Ich lege sehr viel Wert darauf, dass sich meine Gäste im Mühlenhof wohl fühlen, zufrieden sind und sich entspannen können. Wenn etwas nicht in Ordnung ist, bin ich auch auf die Rückmeldung der Gäste angewiesen, nur so kann es besser werden, was mir sehr am Herzen liegt. Das betrifft auch meine Feriendomizile in Italien, auch sie sind für Gruppen oder mehrere Familien bis 15 Personen geeignet.

The driving force behind my activities is my love of nature and old buildings, especially in Italy. It started in Umbria almost 30 years ago, by chance I discovered a very old, abandoned farmhouse in the Valnerina National Park in a wonderful panoramic position. I restored it with a lot of energy and rented it out. This was followed by a farmhouse in the Cilento National Park by the sea, in the midst of a unique natural landscape south of Salerno, and then finally the Mühlenhof in the Osterzgebirge mountains near Altenberg, a magnificent area that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.
