Perfect

The apartment is well-equipped, very clean, and quiet. The proximity to the beach, shop, and restaurant allows for a very relaxing vacation with hiking along the cliff/shore. There is variety in Kappeln and Eckernförde. Highly recommended.

Holiday home "Big Wave" – we will come back!

Those looking for relaxation, comfort, and true hospitality will find it at the holiday home "große Welle" in Schönhagen. The accommodation of the Hoffmann family leaves nothing to be desired: The house is bright, modern, and impeccably clean. Everything has truly been thought of in the furnishings. The highlight is the private sauna, where one can wonderfully relax after long beach walks. The beach is only a one to two-minute walk away! The stay is crowned by the incredibly warm and loving care of the hosts. One feels welcome from the very first second. An absolute 5-star accommodation that we can recommend without reservation!

Always beautiful

We always like to come here again. For me, it is my favorite place because in the garden I can hear the sea rustling. The hosts are really nice and take care of everything lovingly. You are warmly welcomed by "Björn" with a welcome drink. There is also a selection of pillows. Everything you need is available. You can ride your bikes around the area well. The beach is nice and close. The beach promenade has been redone, but I liked it better before because it was greener; it will probably take a while until that grows back.

Which sights are there in Schönhagen?

Between Castle and Beach

The most famous attraction is Schlossgut Schönhagen. The central house from the 18th century now houses a rehabilitation clinic. The wooden bridges and the old gatehouse to Schloss Schönhagen make particularly good photo opportunities. However, Schönhagen's greatest attraction is its nature: the beach, the Baltic Sea, the vast meadows. Especially in the off-season, you often have the beaches and hiking trails to yourself. The cliffs of Schönhagen are also particularly impressive. Here you can walk along and observe the rock formations and the sea.

What do you need to experience in Schönhagen?

Naturally maritime...

Both the sea and the Schlei offer watersports enthusiasts all possibilities for a successful vacation. They are popular sailing areas and are suitable for day trips from your holiday home in the Baltic resort of Schönhagen. In nearby Kappeln, there are numerous maritime events throughout the year, such as the Harbor Festival in late summer and the Herring Days at Ascension Day. In Kappeln, you can rent boats for day trips to explore the region from the water. An annual major event and highlight in Schleswig-Holstein is the Kiel Week. The sailing regatta with an extensive accompanying program is a festival of superlatives – not just for sailors. Over 2,000 individual events, hundreds of concerts, and of course sailing events await you. A harbor tour is something you should not miss, especially during the festivities. This will make your vacation on the Baltic Sea truly unforgettable!

What can you experience in Schönhagen with children?

Would you like a bit more sea?

Your family will love Schönhagen. The equipment of many apartments is family-friendly. The beaches are kilometers long and have fine white sand. Spend a relaxing day at the sandy beach full of tranquility. There are also numerous opportunities for dog walks here. For children, there are numerous recreational activities. For example, the NABU Birdsong Hike is organized in the Stodthagener Forest. Another natural experience is the cliffs in the north of Schönhagen. The Viking-Frisian Trail is a newly established bike path that thematically connects culturally and historically interesting places north and south of the Schlei. In the region, you can also sail, fish, or water ski, ensuring the perfect activity for every guest!

Where can I eat out in Schönhagen?

Would you like a little more?

Clearly, the menus in Schleswig-Holstein revolve around everything that comes from the sea, from the North and Baltic Seas. Dishes such as matjes with boiled potatoes, scrambled eggs with shrimp, carp blue, fish sandwiches, and the famous Kiel sprats can be found on the menus of local cuisine. What doesn't come from the sea isn't far from the Baltic coast: Holstein country ham and tender meadow lamb are the specialties from the mainland. Near your holiday accommodation, you'll find inns, beach restaurants, cafes, and pizzerias. The weekly market in Eckernförde takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. Here or in the numerous farm shops in the region, you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, juices, cheese and sausage specialties, jams, and free-range eggs. Become your own chef and cook in your private holiday home in Schönhagen.

What is a must-see in Schönhagen?
