We were very kindly welcomed by Adolfo and quickly (in English, no problem at all) briefed on all areas. On the table were some groceries and wine ready for our first evening - we found that very thoughtful. The rooms in the villa were all generously sized, there was enough space for all of us, and the number of bathrooms was perfect (8 adults and 2 dogs)... the view into the valley was sensational and made up for a few minor flaws (e.g. Chair worn out, sofa back broken, stains on the floor on the ground floor. . . . ) overlook inside the house. . . . The large covered terrace was anyway our main living area. The kitchen setup was functional, sufficient for our needs (a toaster would have been desirable in our opinion). The pool was heated and clean (however, the heat pump did not achieve more than 22/23 degrees water temperature, which was okay for a short swim given the outside temperature). The only downside and therefore not full points from us: the lower rooms 2 bedrooms/bathroom/living room were quite damp and it smelled like that! - during the day, you could run the dehumidifier, but at night it was not possible due to the noise. Not necessarily recommended for someone with allergies... There were fly screens installed on all the windows, which was good. One could play table tennis (sufficient paddles available) and a ball game with sticks - similar to billiards. The approach is a bit more exciting, a smaller road up the mountain - the entrance to the villa is quite steep, but still passable (even with a larger VW bus). The exercise with the dogs was a bit challenging, as one had to walk directly on the mountain road (was surprisingly relatively busy at certain times). Otherwise, we were very satisfied with our stay, can recommend the house further, and thank you for a lovely week! !

A beautiful and quiet place right by the lake. Although the apartment is part of an apartment complex and we were initially a bit shocked by this, it has turned out to be quite pleasant. A good base to explore Lake Iseo. The apartment itself is tidy and neat.

What do you need to experience at Lake Iseo?

Lake Iseo - Art Deco and classic boats

Of the lakeside towns in northern Italy, Sarnico offers the most sights for an exciting vacation filled with excursions. Sarnico is located in the Lombardy region on the southern shore of Lago d'Iseo and boasts a well-preserved medieval old town with impressive palaces. Definitely worth a visit! Take a tour of Italian cultural history from your vacation home or apartment on Lake Iseo. The town features numerous Art Deco-style buildings by architect Giuseppe Sommaruga, commissioned by the Faccanoni family. Their villa lies within a sprawling park on the lake's shore. In Sarnico's cemetery, you'll find the Faccanoni mausoleum, also designed by Sommaruga using only local stones. The church of San Martino is also well worth a visit. The lower part of the campanile dates from the late 16th century, while the main part of the church, built in the Roman Baroque style, dates from 1727. Lake Iseo gained worldwide fame through the traditional Carlo Riva shipyard. The wooden Riva motorboats are classic motorboats steeped in history. Rent cozy accommodations or a beautiful lake view vacation home in a wonderful landscape, like in Riva di Solto, or an apartment with a lake view, garden, terrace in a prime location and enjoy a relaxing holiday tailored to your personal wishes with your family at Lago d'Iseo.

What can you experience at Lake Iseo with children?

A paradise of water, mountains, and islands

Look forward to a relaxing mountain vacation at Lake Iseo, a true insider tip compared to Lake Garda and Lake Como. Enjoy the picturesque scenery of vineyards, olive groves, chestnut forests, and orchards at a leisurely pace. On the Bergamo side of the lake, there are several small beaches for swimming, boating, surfing, sailing, and fishing. Along the coast, small river valleys alternate with steep cliffs and narrow gorges. From May to September, numerous events take place around Lake Iseo, including concerts, theater performances, and sailing regattas. A must-see is a trip with the lake shipping company to Monte Isola (Island Mountain). This island towers more than 400 meters above the lake, featuring a small village, the sanctuary of Madonna della Ceriola, and numerous hiking trails. From the Island Mountain, you can enjoy breathtaking views across the lake and the surrounding peaks. The northern part of Lake Iseo (Alto Sebino) belongs to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Vallecamonica - Alto Sebino. Hike through the Bergamasker Alps and visit Lovere.

Where can I eat out at Lake Iseo?

Hearty and traditional Italian cuisine

The Lombardy region is a true gourmet paradise. Here, excellent Alpine cuisine meets Mediterranean delights; hearty home-style and country cooking meets delicate fish dishes. A typical appetizer is Pizzoccheri, pasta made from buckwheat flour, similar in appearance to tagliatelle but shorter and thicker. For the main course, try Cassoeula, a hearty stew originating from the rural cuisine of the Po valley. It contains all the parts of the pig that were not fine enough for the aristocratic tables and is enriched with lots of savoy cabbage. A winter dish that warms body and soul. As for fish, Lake Iseo is abundant in trout and pike. Just south of the lake is the wine-growing region of Franciacorta near Monticelli Brusati. Italy's finest sparkling wine, which outshines many Proseccos, comes from this area. In accommodations with your own kitchen, you can also cook delicious dishes yourself.

How do I come to Iseosee?

Over Brenner or Gotthardt to the sunny side of the Alps to Lake Iseo

Lake Iseo, or Lago d'Iseo in Italian, is located in northern Italy within the Lombardy provinces of Bergamo and Brescia at the foot of the Bergamask Alps and the Adamello-Presanella Alps. The lake is situated somewhat off the beaten highway path, which means you'll best reach your idyllic accommodation by train. From Munich, the train ride to Marone on the eastern shore takes approximately 5.5 hours with a change in Verona. By car, you can reach your vacation home on Lake Iseo via the Brenner Motorway or the Gotthardt Motorway and then via the A4 to Brescia. Book accommodation, such as an apartment in Pisogne, or a beautiful lake view house with a terrace, garden, and balcony, and enjoy relaxing holidays amidst picturesque villages and towns.
