A real recommendation!

We had a very nice vacation this summer. This vacation apartment has a nice balcony, where you can enjoy the view every day. It is a spacious apartment for a family with three children. Inside, everything was tidy and clean. The beds were excellent! The contact with the owners was very good. We were warmly welcomed. The combination of a beautiful house, stunning view, and central location in the Montafon valley is ideal. Plus, it is wonderfully quiet. If we go on vacation in this area again, we will definitely book this house again.
Highly recommended!!!

Dream vacation

The apartment is located in a very quiet area (we really enjoyed this peace) and there is a waterfall and climbing route nearby. We were there for hiking and found many beautiful hiking trails in the vicinity. The apartment is nicely and comfortably furnished and has everything you need. And the hosts are also very nice and friendly. In short, we had a very nice vacation.

Which sights are there in Montafon?

Curtain up for nature - discover the mountain world

The greatest attraction is right on the doorstep of your comfortable holiday home: The mountains! Enjoy the untouched nature in Vorarlberg. The most intense experience is on foot, with skis on the slopes or snowshoes, the majestic peaks of Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall in sight. Numerous mountain railways take you there. Each of the mountain villages also tells its own story. Bartholomäberg fascinates with its 4,000-year-old cultural and settlement history. Take a detour from your apartment to the Maisäß houses. These intermediate stations between the native farm in the valley and the Alp are genuine Vorarlberg cultural assets. Gaschurn and Partenen are characterized by spectacular glaciers, the Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße and the Piz Buin. The Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße leads from the Vorarlberg Montafon over the Vermunt and the Bielerhöhe through the mountains of the Silvretta into the Tyrolean Paznaun, the valley of the Trisanna. The 22.3 km long road [1] between Partenen and Galtür is one of the most popular mountain roads in the Austrian Alps with 400,000 users. The summit is the highest here, at 3,312 meters. Mystical mythical figures inhabit the area around Silbertal and the European protection area Verwall. Gargellen is the highest village in Vorarlberg and is known as a smuggler village. From your cheap holiday apartment, you can hike or ski on the Madrisa round tour in the footsteps of the smugglers to Switzerland. A worthwhile excursion destination in the surroundings is Feldkirch with its castles, palaces, churches and monasteries and other attractions.

What do you need to experience in Montafon?

Ski and music good - these highlights await you during your holiday at the holiday home or accommodation

Celebrations, dancing and singing take place all year round. However, the valley really gets turned upside down during the FIS World Cup for ski cross and snowboard cross racers in December. While the international sports elite delivers spectacular races in the Silvretta Montafon during the day, top acts heat up the audience in the evenings on the World Cup stage in Schruns. In summer, the Silbertal Sagenfestspiele attract 4,000 visitors every year with the mystical stories of the place. Simply book a comfortably furnished accommodation or a house or apartment, for example in Schruns-Tschagguns, with a balcony and modern facilities, and enjoy unforgettable experiences, excursions and relaxation days.

What can you experience in Montafon with children?

Active in winter and summer - family holiday in the holiday apartment

Summer and winter, Montafon is a popular destination for vacations in the mountains. While hiking, biking and climbing are on the agenda in summer, the winter months are all about skiing holidays in Montafon. Silvretta Montafon has 113 kilometers of ski slopes to offer, where beginners and experts alike can enjoy themselves. In addition, the ski resort is Austria's number one freeride hotspot, with the areas around St. Gallenkirch considered legendary. You can quickly get into the Silvretta Montafon ski area with exciting slopes from the winter sports resorts of St. Gallenkirch, Gaschurn and Schruns with the mountain railways. The mountain villages Schruns & Tschagguns in Montafon are the starting point for all ski & hiking areas, as well as for climbing, mountain biking and other sports. The longest valley descent in Vorarlberg is the HochjochTotale. The twelve-kilometer-long descent can be reached with the Grasjochbahn in St. Gallenkirch. Families with children especially enjoy the Activity Mountain Golm near Vandans. Make sure to take a trip to Vandans! In winter there are easy family descents, toboggan runs and a special practice area for the youngest ski bunnies. In the summer months, fun is guaranteed with the forest rope park, the Flying-Fox and the nature adventure trail. More adventures await families with children at the Family Funclub in Gargellen or the Montain Beach Amusement Park. The baths with their lakes filled with pure spring water not only offer bathing pleasures but also Austria's first rafting route, slides, and diving towers. If the weather is not cooperating, the Aktivpark Montafon offers you fun and games. There is a climbing park, a skater area, a race track, aerial cableways and suspension bridges, as well as the Alpenbad Montafon. Your affordable holiday apartment from private is the ideal starting point for your daily adventures. Your hosts have thought of everything to make your stay in the apartment or farmhouse unforgettable. The affordable houses are comfortably furnished, have Wi-Fi and TV. Many of the houses in a quiet location are built in the typical chalet style and offer several apartments of different sizes. Speaking of size: Do you have a XXL-format family? You will also find houses in Vorarlberg and Bregenzerwald that are geared towards groups, romantic alpine and mountain huts that can be rented privately. The country is generally considered very dog-friendly, which is why this part of Vorarlberg is also well suited for a holiday with your dog or other pets. In many cheap holiday apartments, your four-legged friend is a welcome guest. You can rent a traditional Maisäß away from the hustle and bustle and go on extensive hikes with your dog. Spend relaxing hours on the idyllic hiking trails of the region. Take a trip to St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl, the Erlebnisberg Golm or the Hochjoch.

Where can I eat out in Montafon?

Sour cheese and tasty beer - enjoy the taste of Vorarlberg in your holiday apartment

The exceptional natural space produces unique culinary delights. A specialty is Montafoner Sura Kees. From the 12th to the 17th century, sour cheese was the mainstay until rennet cheese came along, which was easier to store and transport. Only in Montafon has the tradition of sour cheese making been preserved. The trend towards original and authentic food helped the Montafoner Sura Kees to make a comeback. The low-fat cheese is a true all-rounder and is eaten on bread as well as used in the regional cuisine. You can taste it in the restaurants and mountain huts. Or buy fresh produce from the farm or village shop and create your own Silvretta menu in your holiday accommodation or house kitchen. For many true gourmets, a hearty schnapps made from cherries, apples or pears is the perfect accompaniment to the hearty Vorarlberg dishes. A tasty regional beer or an Austrian wine specialty also goes well with the typical dishes.

What is a must-see in Montafon?

Culture and nature in harmony - your apartment in Vorarlberg

In Montafon, you can visit four museums, the Heimatmuseum Schruns, the Alpine and Tourism Museum Gaschurn, the Mining Museum Silbertal and the Museum Frühmesshaus Bartholomäberg. The museums are also responsible for the event series septimo in September and summit meeting in November. The Montafon Art Forum organizes exhibitions, concerts and other small art events. It also offers courses where you can become creative yourself. Everywhere in Montafon, you can encounter the long tradition of art carving and art carpentry and acquire a very special souvenir. Further cultural highlights await you in the surrounding area. For example, Bregenz on Lake Constance is only a good three-quarters of an hour away. A visit to the Bregenz Festival is just as worthwhile as the Kunsthaus Bregenz, one of the most important exhibition halls for contemporary art in Europe. You can get an extra dose of culture in Feldkirch at the Poolbar Festival and Gaukler Festival.
