Travel guide Marina
Mediterranean Sun and Sea
The climate on the Dalmatian Adriatic coast is Mediterranean, characterized by warm, dry summers and mild, humid winters. With an average of more than 2,500 hours of sunshine per year and water temperatures of over 25 °C in protected bays, it's perfect for a
beach holiday in Marina. Air temperatures rise to between 26 and 35 °C in July and August. Due to the nearby mountain ranges, temperatures drop to between 6-11 °C in the winter months. Frost is rare.
Octopus Peka and Malvasia - Feasting on Dalmatian Cuisine
Like the climate, the food is Mediterranean compared to the hinterland, with strong Italian influences found in Dalmatian cuisine. Of course, there are also the Ćevapčići, minced meat rolls known from Balkan restaurants of the 1980s. However, you should try the local specialties. Grilled meat and fish are available all along the coast. The fish is often caught by the patron of the house (the small, informal restaurants are called Konobas). The price for fish is based on weight and is (justifiably) comparatively high. Octopus from the Peka, a bell-shaped cooking vessel in which the dish simmers for hours, is a delicious choice. Blitva dalmatinski, a Swiss chard dish with potatoes and garlic, is a common side dish. Sheep's or goat's cheese from the island of
Pag and Pršut, double-smoked ham, are popular appetizers that pair perfectly with local wines like the white Malvasia or Malvasija, especially recommended for warm summer evenings.
Crystal-clear water and white beaches for swimming, sunbathing, and diving
The Riviera of Marina is the perfect place for a seaside holiday with the whole family and children. Two beaches are located right in the town. Bijeli Galeb Beach is a tree-lined pebble beach at the northeastern end of Marina, towards Poljica. With its shallow water, it is suitable for bathing with children. Showers, a bar, and sun lounger rentals are available on the beach, providing good infrastructure. About one kilometer away is the white pebble beach of Marina, also with good infrastructure. Numerous small bays and beaches can be found along the Riviera. The crystal-clear water with excellent visibility is perfect for snorkeling and diving. Professional diving bases are located in Trogir and Rogoznica. If you don't like pebble beaches for swimming, book a
holiday with a pool in Marina and refresh yourself in your own holiday accommodation. Marina in Marina offers fun on the water, with 140 yachts floating in the harbor. A charter base is available on-site. If you are traveling by car, you can bring your dog or other pets and explore the area with them and your children. You can also rent a bike and take a trip to nearby villages.
Exploring history in Marina
Wherever you go along the Riviera of Marina, you can find remnants from over 2,000 years of history. Within walking distance from your holiday home in Marina, you can discover numerous attractions such as the 15th-century castle built to protect against invaders. A coat of arms-adorned door is part of the later, now-ruined defensive structure from the time when Marina was under the rule of the Diocese of Trogir. The striking defensive tower also dates from this period. Just outside the town lies the Sv. Filipa i Jakova cave, housing a small chapel and attracting pilgrims annually on May 1st. Next to the cave lie the ruins of the ancient city of Bausione. Book a cozy accommodation, holiday home, or stylishly furnished apartment now, equipped with a southwest-facing terrace, water view, air conditioning, kitchen, and the best location, and enjoy your holiday with your family according to your personal wishes.
