August Vacation

We spent a lovely week in August in the holiday apartment in Holm – together with our little dog. The apartment was clean and had everything needed for a pleasant stay. We felt comfortable and had a nice time there.

A small suggestion for improvement would be the kitchen, which is somewhat outdated. A general modernization of the apartment could certainly benefit it and make it even cozier. All in all, we had a good stay and really enjoyed our time in Holm. Thank you for the lovely week!

Holiday home as it should be

Hello,
we were in the property from 20. 09. 2026 to 03. 10. 2026.
We can only say, it is as many others want to be!!
The furnishings are high quality, starting from the cutlery to the kitchenette and the wonderful garden, everything is more than outstanding regarding the seating options.
Last but not least, the beds stand out very positively from other properties, great mattresses including slatted frames and cozy all around. The location is quiet, yet quite central, just to the beach (3 KM), but excursions are also very well possible from here (Grömitz, Lübeck, Kiel, Scharbeutz, etc.).
The shopping options leave nothing to be desired (Oldenburg i. H. is only 5 KM away).

The most important thing at the end, the friendliness of the landlady is very pleasant. Inquiries were always handled as quickly as possible, and one felt welcome from the first contact ☺.

Best regards,
Helmut Bauer

What do you need to experience in the Bay of Kiel?

Unique Attractions in Kiel Bay and Beyond

Visit a wonderful holiday paradise and come to Kiel Bay. Book a seaside holiday accommodation, such as a holiday home or apartment with sea views, and experience an ideal mix of relaxation, entertainment, action, and culture. The Schleswig-Holstein state capital, Kiel, attracts visitors with Kiel Week, the world's largest sailing event. Here, you can also attend concerts, theater performances, readings, or exhibitions, or go shopping in Germany's second-oldest pedestrian zone (Holstenstraße). Besides the maritime highlights in the state capital Kiel, the yacht harbor in Laboe, located on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, is also worth seeing. From the 85-meter-high tower of the Naval Memorial, you have a unique view of the surroundings, the Baltic Sea, the Fehmarnsund Bridge, the Danish islands, or the hills of the Holstein Switzerland. In Laboe, you will also be thrilled by the German Classics, a veteran regatta, or the culinary cod days. Other vacation tips for the bay and the sea include the idyllic Hagen Castle, the Emkendorf estate with its huge landscape park, or the medieval Kiel Castle. Or take advantage of the well-developed and well-connected bike paths along the Baltic coast, leading you from one picturesque coastal town to the next. Simply book a comfortably furnished holiday accommodation, such as a house or an apartment with sea views, and experience a relaxing dream vacation on the coast between harbors, coastlines, sandy beaches, and Baltic Sea resorts near Kiel Fjord.

What can you experience in the Bay of Kiel with children?

California on the Baltic Sea Calls

A holiday home or apartment is ideal for a beach vacation at Kiel Bay for the whole family. With 17 kilometers of length, the beaches at the bay and Kiel Fjord are a major highlight for visitors. Beautiful bays and white beaches provide relaxation seekers and water enthusiasts with plenty of enjoyment. With a wide range of recreational activities, well-equipped infrastructure, and diverse water sports opportunities, the Baltic Sea resort of California in the municipality of Schönberg is particularly impressive. For animal lovers, the Gettorf Zoo or the Schwentinental Wildlife Park on a vast area are worth visiting. Active vacationers, sailors, and water sports enthusiasts can look forward to ships for sailing, surfing opportunities, and idyllic places for hiking, such as the Probstei, and for excursions near the sea. Surfing is great in Heiligenhafen. Hohwachter Bay, Eckernförde Bay, Fehmarn Island, and Wendtorf are also worth a visit! Enjoy the dream of a purely relaxing journey.

Where can I eat out in the Bay of Kiel?

Delicacies at Top Events

When you rent an apartment or a holiday home, you will get to know the typical North German cuisine in the inns and local eateries, known for being hearty and down-to-earth. The proximity to the seas and Scandinavia is unmistakable. In addition to fish and seafood, there are numerous dishes with potatoes or the flavor of Broken Sweetness (Brooken Sööt). Holsteiner sour meat, pears, bacon, and beans are commonly used. In Kiel, there is a wide selection of different eateries. As a university town, you will find restaurants offering dishes from all over the world. Enjoy a particularly magnificent view of the Baltic Sea while dining at the SEEBAR, the only bar in Kiel located on the water. For more upscale dining, visit Weinstein on Holtenauer Street or Drahtenhof near the Molfsee Open Air Museum. A culinary highlight is the Kiel Farmers' and Regional Market, held annually in early October. You can also enjoy good local food at traditional events like Kiel Week, the Culture Summer, or the Kiel Exchange. After a successful dinner, take an evening stroll along the sandy beach or enjoy a sundowner at a coastal bar.

How do I come to Kieler Bucht?

Many Paths Lead to the Waters of Kiel Bay

A vacation with accommodation by the sea or a privately rented holiday home or apartment in Kiel Bay awaits you! The bay is located on the Baltic Sea and is bordered by the coasts of Schleswig-Holstein. Kiel Bay, or Kiel Bugt in Danish, is a bay of the Baltic Sea, at the approximate center of which the Kiel Fjord leads to the state capital, Kiel. The maritime capital of Schleswig-Holstein is situated at the north-western end of the German Baltic Sea, just before the border with Denmark. To the southeast lies the island of Fehmarn, to the north the Danish islands of Langeland, Als, and Ærø. Kiel Bay also includes the Schlei, Hohwachter Bay, and Eckernförde Bay. You can travel to your accommodation by plane via Hamburg Airport, by train via Kiel Central Station, by bus via the Kiel Central Bus Station, or by car via the road. Use the A215, 210, or A21/B404 to Kiel. Those arriving by water can use the East Shore Port, Norway Quay, or Sweden Quay as docking points. Book now a cozy holiday accommodation, such as a holiday home or apartment, for example in Krokau or Stein, with sea views and enjoy an unforgettable dream vacation between the sea, coast, and varied Baltic Sea resorts. Numerous possibilities for excursions await you in the region and its surroundings.
