Wonderful cycling holiday

We can only recommend this apartment. We felt very comfortable. Everything was available that you need and very clean. Great REWE store within a 4-minute walk (breakfast rolls). Beautiful view of the vineyards. Perfect starting point for cycling on the Moselle. The TV is now a flat-screen.

We stayed in the holiday apartment for 6 days. It is very tastefully furnished. Everything necessary was available to make ourselves comfortable for the week.
The balcony is facing the Moselle with a view of the vineyards. Simply wonderful. We had breakfast there in the beautiful sunshine in the morning.
In a few minutes' walk, we were at the Moselle and walked along it to the bridge.
We went on wonderful hikes, took a boat trip, and went on a panoramic train ride.
We would love to go back to this holiday apartment at any time :-)))

Which sights are there in Bernkastel-Kues?

Following the Footsteps of the Famous Cusanus

In the medieval old town with its historic half-timbered houses, the narrow pointed houses particularly stand out. Stroll through the narrow alleys of the old town and you will reach the medieval marketplace with the Renaissance town hall.

One of the most famous buildings is the late Gothic collegiate complex of the St. Nicholas Hospital with the Cusanusstift. It houses both a historic vineyard and a unique library, as well as a nursing home. The building preserves, among other things, writings by the founder Nikolaus Cusanus himself.

Another attraction directly on the Moselle is the Catholic parish church of St. Michael. It was built as a pseudo-basilica in the 14th century and houses several beautiful monuments inside.

Numerous other attractions in the Moselle Valley and along the Moselle riverbank await you. For example, take a trip to the nearby Hunsrück or to Traben-Trarbach or Trier.

Wine Culture, Music, and Lively Medieval Times

Culture in the region primarily means wine culture. The large wine festival of the Middle Moselle takes place every year on the first weekend of September. Here, the reign of the wine queens of Bernkastel-Kues, the Mosella, is transferred. From Thursday to Tuesday, festivities and music revolve around the alcoholic beverage.

On the medieval marketplace, the square at the Bear Fountain, and the Karlsbad Square, there are numerous concerts and events. Music fans will fully enjoy the numerous music events here.

The Moselle with the Whole Family

Above the town, the Landshut Castle Ruins dominate from the Hundsrück. It is a popular destination for the whole family and is open daily from 11 am to 9 pm, although Wednesday is a rest day. (As of September 2023)

To get to the top, you can use the bright yellow Burg-Landshut-Express or hike up through the vineyards. If you opt for the shuttle service, a round trip costs 7 € for adults, children pay only half. (As of September 2023)

Another family highlight is a boat trip on the Moselle. Behind every bend and every loop, a new panorama and new views await you.

Not to mention, the many bike paths like the Moselle Cycle Path along the river delight both young and old.
For experienced mountain bikers, there is a special network of trails with several thousand meters of altitude. Action and excitement are guaranteed here!

For the particularly adventurous, a paragliding flight high above the landscape is an extraordinary experience.

One of the highlights for hikers is the Moselsteig, opened in 2014. The stage in the vicinity of your accommodation in Bernkastel-Kues leads you over vineyards and winding paths to the ruins of Grevenburg and into the picturesque town of Traben-Trarbach with its many Art Nouveau buildings.

A cozy stop after an extended hike is offered by the brewery of the Machern Monastery in the Wehlen district. Here, you can comfortably end the day with a delicious beer.
