We have now been to Hyggeli for the second time (2023 and 2025) over Christmas and can highly recommend the little house! We are now booking for 2026. Everything you need is available, and everything is in good clean condition. You are guaranteed to spend your vacation here stress-free and calmly. I would also like to mention the particularly nice contact with the landlord and the associated uncomplicated key handover.

Wonderful thatched roof house in nature

A heartfelt thanks to the Thimsen family for the wonderful holiday home. In the middle of nature with a large garden and everything you need - nothing is missing! This time a deer greeted us upon arrival, last time it was a pheasant. From the house, you can walk directly into the nearby forest. The large beaches, as well as the sunsets, are impressive. The furnishings are well-maintained and everything is very clean! Now in the colder season, we really enjoyed the stove in the large living room. In the beds, one can sleep well and all rooms have insect protection.
The terrace is also really nice; one can sit in the sun there and hear the birds and the wind rustling through the trees. Fantastic.
A bakery and supermarket are within walking distance.

Communication with Mr. Thimsen is very friendly; he responds quickly to questions. A tip on the side: one should familiarize themselves in advance with the Danish traffic and parking rules: a non-set parking disc can quickly cost a lot of money.

The car and passenger ferry departs from the seaside resort List on Sylt to the port of Havneby, just nine nautical miles away, in about 45 minutes. Rømø is connected to the mainland by a roughly 10-kilometer-long Rømø Dam (Rømødæmningen) and is thus easily accessible by private car throughout the year. The fastest route is via the A7 or E45 motorway through Neumünster, Rendsburg, and Flensburg, from where you reach the German-Danish border. Take exit 73 Klibley and follow the federal road 179 to Toftlund. Here, switch to the B175, which takes you past Skærbæk to the Rømø Dam. If you prefer public transport, take the German Railway to Niebüll. From there, the Danish State Railways will take you to Skærbæk – a journey of about three and a half hours from Hamburg. In Skærbæk, bus line 285 awaits you and takes you to all destinations on the island. The journey takes between 10 and 40 minutes depending on your final destination.
