Petit Chateau

Find peace without having to do without anything. The Petit Chateau in the village of Tordères is a place for all those who want to escape everyday life – far from typical tourist accommodations, nestled in the gentle landscape of the hinterland. But not cut off from the outside world, it is not far to the sea, to the surrounding towns, and to the sights, and shopping is also easily possible nearby.

A house with character

The lovingly restored house offers space for up to eight people. Four spacious bedrooms are spread over two floors, each level with its own bathroom – enough room to be together and yet find peace. The heart: a living room with a large wooden table and fireplace, connecting all the rooms. Here people gather for shared meals, to read, to talk – and feel the relaxed atmosphere of the village.

The kitchen is equipped for cooking enthusiasts: oven, dishwasher, large refrigerator. Anyone who enjoys being outdoors will find their outdoor living room on the spacious terrace – partially covered, flooded with sunlight, sheltered from view between wisteria and a jasmine-covered wall, yet still with a view of the village and garden. The small garden with its large fig tree invites you to barbecue, play, or simply linger; in the village there is a playground for the little ones, and right next to it, both young and old can enjoy table tennis, basketball, or pétanque (boules).

What is possible

From here, you can explore Languedoc-Roussillon: wineries, weekly markets, typical French villages. The sea can be reached in about 30 minutes – passing places that already make the drive worthwhile. In about 30 minutes you are in Spain; Barcelona or Girona are easily reachable for a day trip.

Or you simply stay. Read. Cook. Sit on the terrace in the evening. Or meet with the other guests for an aperitif or barbecue in the garden.

Whether as a family, couple, or group of friends – the Petit Chateau combines time together with enough space for each individual. In a small authentic village set in nature, between cork oak forests and vineyards.

Location and surroundings of object

Torderes is a picturesque village, surrounded by vineyards and cork oak forests and located 29 km from the Mediterranean Sea.

From Tordères you look out over the plain towards the sea. With the village begins the foothills of the Pyrenees with a view of the Canigou. Tordères is an ideal starting point for a wide variety of activities: swimming trips to sandy and rocky beaches, walks and hikes in nature, excursions into the hinterland, into history and culture. Tordères is off the main roads and away from mass tourism. Anyone seeking peace and relaxation will find it in Tordères.

“South of Fourques, the tiny D 23 branches off to the right and leads to little Tordères, whose surroundings, for me, are among the most beautiful corners of the Aspres.”

The nearest larger city is Perpignan, 21 km away, and it is only 25 kilometers to the Spanish border. There are shopping facilities in the neighboring village (3 km), and the nearest supermarket is 9 km away. It is 29 km to the sandy beach, and a bit further to the rocky coves. There are also two bathing lakes located closer by.

We were very satisfied.

The landlord Florian is available for all questions. He also speaks German and is very reliable in communication. A change of stay was fortunately possible, although it is a highly sought-after location during Pentecost. We felt completely comfortable. The house has a lot of charm and is wonderfully cool in the summer. Everything is lovingly furnished. We particularly liked the terrace. The evenings there: Priceless! Great for the dogs - and us! There are herbs in the garden. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Everything is clean and inviting. The sea is not far away (25 km). There are many beautiful excursion destinations, but even a walk in Torderés is nice. Refueling is advisable in Spain (€1.40). Supermarket 10 km away. There are InterMarché, Lidl, Aldi. You can talk to the landlord about anything. He tries to fulfill all wishes! We even had a wonderful pizza evening. In the village of Torderés, dogs should be kept on a leash, as there are free-running sheep.

Goldener Herbst in Frankreich! Die Temperaturen waren noch angenehm fürs Meer, gleichzeitig ideal für längere Touren in den Bergen. Abends wurde der Kamin schon wieder angeschmissen – gemütlicher geht's kaum. Für alle, die Nebensaison und ruhige Momente schätzen, eine klare Empfehlung.

Vacation in the romantic Torderes

The house is tidy and clean, the kitchen well equipped. It has a very nice terrace, partially covered, so you can sit outside even in light rain. The location is optimal for us, very quiet, but shopping options are easily accessible by car. There is a lot to see in the immediate and surrounding area if you are interested in culture, and you can hike wonderfully. The sea is easily reachable by car in about. 30 min, so that occasional beach holidays are also easily possible. The accessibility of the landlord is very good.

Gastgeber Deluxe

Wir waren im August wieder bei Florian in Perpignan – Hochsommer pur und einfach der perfekte Ort dafür. Die Nähe zum Meer (nur 30 Minuten) war im August natürlich Gold wert, wir waren fast täglich am Strand. Wer's etwas kühler mag, findet in den Pyrenäen einen tollen Ausgleich – morgens am Strand, nachmittags eine Wanderung in etwas höheren, angenehmeren Temperaturen.
Das Wohnzimmer mit der starken Sonneneinstrahlung war im August natürlich in voller Pracht – Abends bei offenen Fenstern und leichter Brise war es wunderbar angenehm bei einem Glas Wein zu verweilen.

Florian als Gastgeber war auch dieses Mal wieder ein absoluter Glücksgriff – immer erreichbar, super freundlich und mit den besten Tipps für Strände und Restaurants abseits der Touristenpfade.
August ist die beste Zeit für alle, die vollen Sommer mit Meer, Sonne und der Möglichkeit auf kühlere Bergausflüge kombinieren wollen. Wieder ein toller Aufenthalt in diesem besonderen Haus!

Top, absoluter Traum hier

Ruhiger Winteraufenthalt in Tordères – perfekt für alle, die die Nebensaison lieben. Der Kamin war an kühlen Abenden Gold wert, und die Sonne im Wohnzimmer hat trotz Winterkälte für angenehme Wärme gesorgt. Vormittags ein Abstecher in die Pyrenäen, nachmittags Zeit am fast menschenleeren Strand. Sehr entspannt und authentisch.

Lovely furnished holiday home

Very nice accommodation, just as described.
Nice, helpful landlord.
We haven't found such a clean accommodation in a long time, actually worth more than just 5 stars.
Only downside - and that's why only 4 stars for equipment - there was no fly screen door on the door from the kitchen to the terrace. That was unfortunately very unpleasant.
Nevertheless, highly recommended and for us conceivable at any time again.

Rest and cycling tours

We spent a good two and a half weeks in the beautiful, cosy Petit Château in early summer '17 as a couple and with a dog: tastefully and functionally restored and furnished, a lot of space, actually too much space for us, peace and quiet and if you don't want to, you don't hear or see anything from the neighbours. But if you want to, you can find the super nice landlord somewhere in the vicinity in one of his gardens around the house...
Great terrace, great shade garden downstairs - everything as described, only even nicer in real life!
The surroundings offer everything for hiking, walking and especially cycling. With a racing bike (without a car) you can reach hills as well as real mountains (and for resting it's flat down to the sea).
In Ceret and Collioure, and of course Perpignan, you should definitely visit the museums, galleries and exhibitions: since the early 20th century, many great painters have lived in this area and left their mark, not only Picasso and Dali.
All around there's a good choice for eating out, buying wine and fruit; -the landlord has good tips for that, too, if you need them. There's also a good bakery nearby.
We will be back soon!
