Description

The large, quietly located vacation home in Catalan architectural style is situated in the southern French village of Villelongue-dels-Monts, just 20 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea and at the foot of the Pyrenees. From the two roof terraces, there is a wide view across the countryside and into the mountain world of the Albères massif up to the sea. In the garden of the detached house, there is a private swimming pool, grill, and summer kitchen. The open pool is 8.5 m long and 1.5 m deep. For the safety of small children, there is an alarm system. The spacious vacation home has five bedrooms with 10 beds: two rooms with double beds and three rooms with two separate beds. Guests can use four bathrooms: one bathroom with shower, bathtub, toilet; three bathrooms with shower/toilet and a guest toilet. Two rooms have a private bathroom. There is a crib and a high chair for toddlers. The house is suitable for large and small groups and families (max. 10 people). The spacious living and dining room has a long solid wood dining table and a sofa seating area around the fireplace. The special Catalan architecture with a gallery, interior staircase, and a ten-meter high ceiling makes the room generously spacious in a southern style. Even on hot summer days, it stays pleasantly cool due to the high ceiling. The long dining table is suitable for shared meals with larger groups. The three-part sofa seating area around the fireplace invites cozy conversations. In the living room, guests have access to games and travel information. From the living room, one can reach the south-facing terrace with a garden, swimming pool, and built-in grill. The living room, gallery, and kitchen are spacious enough to also spend very pleasant days indoors when it rains.

Via a wooden staircase in the traditional Catalan style, one reaches the upper floor with a gallery with a reading nook, the large sundowner terrace, and a separate bedroom with its own bathroom and balcony. Generous spaces and separate, cozy corners extend over a total living area of 220 square meters and 60 square meters of terraces. Thus, the house offers plenty of room for different activities – reading, sleeping, swimming, playing, cooking, listening to music, or working. A distinctive feature of the house is the four balconies and terraces facing all four cardinal directions: From the large "Sundowner" terrace on the first floor, there is a magnificent view over to the mountains, the village church, and across the countryside to the sea at Argelès-sur-Mer. The terrace faces southwest and is ideal for drinks and dinner at sunset. The large southern terrace is located in the garden between the pool and the grill. The two smaller balconies are in front of the kitchen and the gallery.

The large kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, electric oven, extractor hood, dishwasher, microwave, a large refrigerator with freezer compartment, coffee maker, toaster, and dishes for 10 people. The kitchen table is suitable for smaller meals or as a work area while cooking. Directly from the kitchen, there is access to a covered dining area for outdoor dining or breakfast in the morning sun. In the basement, there is a second large refrigerator.

The house has electric heaters, and there are portable fans in the bedrooms. All beds have reading lamps. The bedrooms are equipped with parquet flooring, all other rooms are tiled. All windows have wooden shutters.

In the basement, there is the fourth bathroom, the ping pong table, and the washing machine. The facilities also include an internet connection (Wi-Fi), 8 garden chairs, 2 beach chairs, 8 sun loungers, large and small dining tables on the terraces, a clothesline and clothes rack, a garden shower for rinsing off chlorinated pool water, a pool cover, a pool heater for the months of October-April, a pool sand filter and circulation pump, as well as a garage.

The vacation house was built in 1976. The terraces are specifically oriented towards light and time of day. The property has a total of 978 sqm and is completely fenced. It is surrounded by other residential houses.

Garden
The detached house is encompassed by a small Mediterranean garden. In the summer, the lawn is very dry and sparse. Between the swimming pool and the barbecue, there is a small flat lawn for playing. The garden grill is part of a summer kitchen. The other lawn areas of the sloping property slope downward. In the upper part of the garden, there are an almond tree, a fig tree, and a peach tree. On the north side of the house stands an apricot tree. Roses and herbs such as rosemary, sage, and thyme grow along the walls.

On the south terrace by the swimming pool, there are enough garden chairs, deck chairs, and loungers available. Sun umbrellas, a garden shower, and a rotary clothesline complete the amenities. The pool is about 30 square meters in size, has entry steps, and is 1.50 m deep. To protect toddlers, there is an alarm system. The pool has underwater lighting.

Location and surroundings of object

Villelongue dels Monts is a typical southern French village and is situated in the mountains of the Albères, a promontory of the Pyrenees and the Pic du Canigou mountain (2,785 m), in the warmest region of France. Ideally situated, the 8 km long sandy beaches from Argelès Plage to St. Cyprien Plage, the port of Racou and further on the bays of the cliffs at Collioure, Banyuls-sur-Mer et Cerbère on the Veillchen coast (Côte Vermeille) or the mountain world of the Pyrenees are reachable in 20 minutes by car.
Perpignan, the next bigger city with airport is 40 min away, the big airport Gerona (Costa Brava) one hour
The place is very easy to reach by car, the A9 from Avignon to Barcelona is 15 minutes away without hearing it. It is a 2 hour drive to Barcelona; on the way is the Dalí Museum in Figueres. The region has an interesting history, is rich in places of interest, famous for its cuisine and wine and offers a special mixture of southern French and Spanish-Catalan culture. Particularly suitable for sports activities: hiking, cycling, mountain biking, bathing, swimming, climbing, water sports, canoeing, golf, tennis. The nearest ski area of the Pyrenees is 90 minutes away. The weather is mostly warm and with little rainfall from Easter to October, ideal for outdoor activities.

Wonderful house, beautiful furnishings!
We cooked a lot and then ate on the different terraces depending on the position of the sun!

-The house is tip-top and huge.
-The view from the balconies is terrific (sea, mountains, cities).
-Pool top, always sunlit (lattice around is a bit annoying, but regulation)
-Everything clean!
