Gesondert erhebt die Gemeinde Burg einen Kurbeitrag, welcher am Tag der Anreise durch den Vermieter zu kassieren ist. 2. Born and raised in Burg, I am deeply rooted in the Spreewald and its traditions, such as Zampern or Fastnacht. I remember the Spreewald from the time of the great floods. Back then, the agriculture that characterised the region was still carried out by horse and cart and sometimes by barge. My parents and I grew cucumbers and horseradish on our smallholding. Over time, farming was no longer profitable enough to maintain the property. I therefore decided to convert the former barn into what is now a holiday home. Since 2001, my team and I have been welcoming guests to the biosphere reserve and, in my roles as a passionate craftsman, bargeman and Spreewald enthusiast, I am constantly working to develop the guesthouse further. It is particularly close to my heart when guests can immerse themselves in our unique landscape by boat, bike or on foot and relax in our garden right by the water.
