Location and surroundings of object

Rerik, the Baltic seaside resort with many facets

You will fall in love with this area as soon as you arrive
You will drive through a picturesque moraine landscape in which gentle hills alternate with extensive forests
Even from afar, you can enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea on the horizon.

From the moraine landscape into the colourful hustle and bustle of the former fishing village.
Whether you watch the fishermen at work in the morning, or enjoy the tranquillity of nature on the Salzhaff, or find the "treasure of the sea", amber
Let yourself be enchanted by the varied coastal area with its cliffs, natural beaches, the rushing Baltic Sea surf and the calm water in the lagoon.
Or perhaps the Haff Square and the promenade with its numerous cafés and restaurants will entice you

If you've always wanted to know what it's like to stand in the middle of the sea, then you shouldn't miss the pier.
With its 170 metres, it is a "must-see" for every visitor

Not far from the pier is the Schmiedeberg, the remnant of an old Slavic castle rampart and situated between the Baltic Sea, the Salzhaff and the "forbidden" peninsula of Wustrow.
Here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view

Not far away, you can go on board and visit the "forbidden" peninsula of Wustrow from the boat. The peninsula has been closed to the public since 2004. From the boat you can still make out some parts of the former garden city. But fauna and flora are reclaiming their realm.

A special highlight in Rerik is the early Gothic St. John's Church. Built between 1250 and 1270, the village church with its square tower and "bishop's mitre" is unique in all of northern Germany. It still serves as an extremely important landmark for fishermen and skippers
Various extensions in the 17th and 18th centuries shaped the church's present appearance

A little outside Rerik you will find a small piece of history.
Between 3500 and 2900 B.C., 8 large stone graves, so-called "mound graves", were built around Rerik, a consequence of the farming way of life in the Neolithic period and the new cultural ideas associated with it. They are among the oldest human structures in the landscape that have survived to this day. Definitely worth a visit.

Vielen Dank.
