Description
The log holiday home from 2012 is located in one of the largest forest areas in Germany. All this close to the capital Berlin and Potsdam.
The environmentally friendly wooden house (leather upholstered furniture) on 800 sqm (official: 4 stars) has 2 bedrooms and 1 living room with integrated, fully equipped kitchen on 50 sqm floor space plus a gallery (approx. 20 sqm) usable for leisure, relaxing, watching TV and (if 6 sleeping places are not enough) possibly for sleeping.
The "Domizil Katharina" (Birkenstr. 21, 14822 Borkwalde) is ecologically heated with a soapstone stove and has electric underfloor heating that can be switched on. It can be used comfortably all year round. In the warmer season, the terrace is ideal. 1 to 6 persons will feel comfortable. The landlord and landlady live in the adjacent property, are happy to receive guests from other countries and speak several languages.
The biggest advantage of the surroundings are closed forest areas with fresh air, solitude and seasonally many mushrooms. Nearby are Brandenburg bathing lakes, an open-air swimming pool 3 km away and a thermal bath 25 km away. Completely underestimated by tourists, the Fläming mountain range lies to the south. Berlin and Potsdam (45/60 minutes by train) attract visitors with their unique sights. The Wörlitz-Dessau Garden Kingdom, Luther's city of Wittenberg, venerable Brandenburg and the Cistercian monastery of Lehnin can be conquered in day trips. All this is within easy reach via the A 2, A 9 and A 10 motorways, by train from the neighbouring town of Borkheide or from Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. In Borkwalde there is 1 bistro and 2 restaurants with home cooking.
The "Domizil Katharina" is enclosed. It provides bed linen (weekly) and towels as required. These are not charged. We take care of the environment by avoiding and separating waste. Slippers are provided.

Location and surroundings of object
The domicile "Katharina" is located in Alt-Borkwalde, the core of the village that has grown over 100 years. Just a 7-minute walk and the visitor is already in the centre of the community with one of the two restaurants and the bistro. The holiday home is situated on the owners' 2600 square metre property, which is covered with pine trees and an old oak. Borkwalde is a forest community of 1500 inhabitants spread over 5 square kilometres. Two restaurants and a bistro invite visitors to stay. A pharmacy, a hairdresser's shop and a physiotherapy practice serve necessities and amenities. The village also has a market garden.

| The existing stove heating is completely sufficient. However, should there be a wish to additionally use the electric underfloor heating, there will be a cost for the electric energy of 0.50 Euro/kWh (cost price). The price per night refers to an occupancy with 2 persons. For a possible 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th person the price per night increases by 10 Euro each. The price per week is 550,00 € for 3 persons, 600,00 € for 4 persons, 650,00 € for 5 persons and 700,00 € for 6 persons. There is a charge of € 3.00 per bicycle and day for the loan of a bicycle. |

Beautiful house in the green
This was my second time in the holiday home. Everything is there that is necessary for a relaxing holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped with a super fridge/freezer!
But the best thing is the super cosy wood stove in the middle of the house. With a bit of luck, the stove is already fired up when you arrive, so it smells like wood outside and is cosy and warm inside.
I love the surroundings, but it's in the forest and not to everyone's taste.
