Chia: Untouched nature and world-famous beaches
The coast of the village of Chia is seven kilometers long and a true paradise. The Torre di Chia provides access to a long stretch of sand, interspersed with small headlands and washed by the emerald green sea. In the west, you cross the beaches of Sa Tuerra, Porto Campana, De Su Sali up to Su Giudeu – the most beautiful of all, which is often chosen as a setting for television commercials. Behind it lies the Stagno di Spartivento, which is home to many rare species. In front of the beach, a small island can be spotted, which is accessible thanks to the shallow water. In a sheltered bay at the western extremity lies Cala Cipolla. From here you can reach the Capo Spartivento lighthouse overlooking the Sulcis coast. The entire stretch of coastline offers every comfort and makes it a dream vacation destination. Immerse yourself not only in the sea, but also in archaeology, in Chia, where the once flourishing Phoenician-Punic (later Roman) city of Bithia stood. Among the excavated ruins are the remains of a tophet, a children's cemetery, the road that led to the ancient city of Nora, and the necropolis, which also housed the temple of the god Bes, whose statue is kept in the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.
