Villa Sossego has only been rented out since February 2026. It is located in the coastal hills of the eastern Algarve, just 1 km from the village of Santo Estêvão with its small church square. The surroundings are characterized by evergreen carob trees and striking rock formations. In the distance, you can see the Atlantic coast and the lagoon area of the Ria Formosa. The quiet location away from busy roads has given the villa its name – “Sossego” means “peace” and “comfort.”
The Portuguese owners have created a place of relaxation that blends harmoniously into the natural landscape. By using regional materials and traditional construction methods, a special retreat has been created. From the forecourt with an old olive tree, wide steps lead to the single-story house, which is surrounded by inviting, partly covered terraces. Depending on the wind and the position of the sun, there are sheltered seating areas with views to the east and south or to the northwest into the green neighborhood with a young carob tree plantation.
In the outdoor area, two large dining tables are available for shared meals. Sofas and benches with colorful cushions offer cozy spots all around for relaxing. A highlight is the pool area, flanked by the house and the higher-lying property. The well-kept, turquoise water is surrounded by sheltered seating and lounging areas on white wooden flooring. An outdoor shower, a toilet, an adjoining room with refrigerator, as well as a large grill with sink, complement this comfortable outdoor area.
The house is accessible through three large, south-facing terrace doors. The upper door leads into the well-equipped kitchen with a small dining table.

Shopping facilities, restaurants, and everyday amenities are also only a few minutes away by car.
The villa is located away from heavily trafficked roads and thus offers a high degree of privacy and relaxation, without sacrificing proximity to infrastructure and excursion destinations. Simply great!
Normally, I don't write reviews, but with this house, it's different - just as the entire house is different from anything we have rented before. It is simply wonderful. So tastefully furnished, so lovingly, so completely, as if the owners were just briefly away. In fact, I repeatedly stood in the large living room and took a breath because it is so beautiful. The photos capture the house very well, but actually, it is even more beautiful because everything is absolutely harmonious.
The kitchen is fully equipped, very high quality, and the mattresses are just right. The pool was still a bit chilly at the beginning of April, and it is beautifully situated as well.
There is a small downside, but it doesn't matter because of the great house: the beautiful panoramic view of the sea is interrupted in the distance by sparkling greenhouses. That everything is very clean and tidy is almost a given, I think. The manager gave us a very nice introduction (thanks for the wine :-)) and was really quick in answering our questions. So everything is just wonderful!
And because we are so enthusiastic, we have booked directly for next spring and are really looking forward to it :-).
