Enkhuizen in Friesland, a charming town with a rich history.
The historic fishing town of Enkhuizen was once one of the wealthiest towns in the Netherlands and is located in West Friesland in the province of Noord-Holland. The idyllic old town centre is dotted with beautiful buildings and invites you to stroll, discover, linger and enjoy a delicious meal. Directly from Enkhuizen, a 25 kilometre long dyke leads through the water to Lelystad, separating the IJsselmeer and Markermeer lakes. Thanks to this unique location, Enkhuizen is very popular with tourists. The harbour and the fantastic water sports facilities attract many water sports enthusiasts every year.
