Steendam, Netherlands: a quiet village surrounded by nature and water. The Schildmeer together with 't Roegwold forms a diverse natural area. Old nature has been supplemented with new nature and agricultural areas between the already existing natural areas are being restructured. The area is characterized by a variety of open water, grasslands, marshes, rugged nature, tranquility, and expansive views. A large part of the area is grazed by Hereford cows, Groningen Blaarkop cows, and sheep. Thanks to the extensive network of cycling and walking paths, you can thoroughly see, experience, and immerse yourself in nature. For instance, by walking on the Knuppelpad; a 750-meter wooden plank path, straight through the marsh of 't Roegwold. The view changes with each season, allowing you to take the most beautiful photos.
