Idyllic village in Liguria, known for picturesque views and historic architecture.
Just about 6 km north of Imperia in the Prino Valley (Valprino) lies the small town of Dolcedo. The place consists of the main part of Dolcedo (Dolcedo piazza) and several small, independent districts in the hills (like Costa Carnara, Lecchiore, Isolalunga, Bellissimi, Castelazzo, Ripalta...). The valley is called Conca d' Oro and is completely covered with terraces of olive cultivation. Above the extensive olive groves stretch chestnut and oak woods up to the pastures of the ridge, where Monte Faudo is the highest elevation at 1149 meters. The old network of mule roads, called Mulatiera, is partially preserved and designated for hiking.
The picturesque village scene is characterized by the old Loggia del Comune and two remarkable church buildings. Still characterized by the medieval era, the village extends itself with winding alleys, archways, caruggi, and interlocked groups of houses like a labyrinth climbing the slopes. The landmark of the place, almost an icon of Liguria, the Maltese bridge from 1292, "il ponte grande," spans the deeply cut river Prino.
In the village, there are many good shopping opportunities: there is a pharmacy, a baker, a butcher, and several grocery stores. In the center, there are nice bars and increasingly more restaurants, from a simple pizzeria to upscale places like Casa della Roca in Ripalta. On the square, there is a bank with an ATM.
In summer, Dolcedo regularly hosts antique markets, farmers markets, as well as village festivals and classical concerts.

The owners mostly live in the village and are always ready to help with advice and action if necessary, and during the summer months, you will often be gifted fresh vegetables from their own cultivation.
