Description

The holiday home, which was completed in spring 2013 and consists of 2 holiday flats, is situated in an idyllic location on the edge of the forest with a spacious south-facing garden. As an edge development of a newly built holiday home settlement without through traffic, the location of the house allows a beautiful view of the pretty neighbouring houses without being bordered by them all around. On the terrace with seating set you can relax and enjoy your holiday

The house has 2 bicycles to share, one for men and one for women.

There are 2 flats for rent, each with 2 bedrooms for 4 people (an extra bed and a baby bed/high chair can also be booked), as well as a living/dining area with a large flat-screen TV, radio/CD player and board games. Both flats have ground-level showers and underfloor heating. In all rooms, the floor in plank look provides a cosy warm living feeling.

Location and surroundings of object

The holiday home has one of the best locations in this settlement: sun from all sides on the terrace and shady spots due to the edge of the forest.

The entire property is fenced and offers plenty of space to play, barbecue and relax.

To sunbathe by the sea, a shady forest path leads a good 400m to the steep coast; a natural staircase takes you to the fine sandy beach. The nearby Achterwasser is also worth a visit - whether for a walk or for water sports

Right outside the front door, you can start a bike tour through the coastal forest, either south-east towards Swinemünde or north-west towards Peenemünde - always close to the coast

Indoor bathing and wellness facilities are offered by the Bernsteintherme in Zinnowitz (just under 10km) or the Ostseetherme in Heringsdorf (18km)

There are good transport connections via the Usedom Bäderbahn (railway station 2km away)

Two golf courses await golfers on the island: Baltic-Hills Golf (19 holes) 22km away and the Balmer See Golf Course (36 holes) 18km away.

additional information:

Koserow is located about halfway between Karlshagen and Ahlbeck, at the narrowest point of the island of Usedom, between the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser, and is unique and diverse in its natural features. Whether bathing enthusiasts, sailors, surfers, hikers or cyclists, everyone can get their money's worth here. The highest elevation on the island of Usedom, the Streckelsberg with its 58 m height, is particularly attractive. From its steep bank, the observer has a wonderful view of the sea. From here, on a clear day, you can see the hills of Mönchgut on the island of Rügen to the west; and often the chalk cliffs of Stubbenkammer. Looking northwest, you can see the island of Oie, which attracts attention especially in the evening with the flashing lights of its lighthouse. If you look to the south-east, you can see the steep shores of the neighbouring island of Wollin. Koserow was first mentioned in a document in 1347 as Cuzerowe and is one of the oldest settlements on the island of Usedom. The Koserow church, which was built as a fieldstone church as early as the end of the 13th century, is the oldest church on the Usedom Baltic coast. Even before there was any thought of bathing life in Koserow, the place was known for its eventful history. It is said that the legendary city of Vineta once lay off the coast of Koserow. The feared pirate "Klaus Störtebecker" is also said to have once had his hideout in the caves of Streckelsberg. According to old church records, the Koserow pastor Wilhelm Meinhold wrote the novel "Die Bernsteinhexe" (The Amber Witch), which was published in 1843.

The area between Koserow and Zempin, with only 300 m of land between the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser, was repeatedly threatened by the force of the water over the centuries. In November 1872, the island and especially the outlying estate of Damerow experienced a devastating storm surge with water levels up to 3 m above normal. This storm surge and its effects in Damerow were reported in the press throughout Germany. The village of Damerow was largely destroyed during this storm night. It was only thanks to the prudence and helpfulness of the Koserow fishermen that the inhabitants of the outlying estate escaped with their lives. Storms raged with similar force in the following years and decades. On 9 and 10 February 1874, the storm tide caused the remains of the Damerow outworks to be reduced to rubble. After the tide receded, a 60 cm layer of sea sand covered the fields and meadows. The inhabitants had no choice but to leave Damerow and settle in Koserow. Today, "Lüttenort", the former place of work of the painter Otto Niemeyer Holstein, is located at this narrowest point on the island of Usedom. Another sight is the Koserow salt huts. These were built around 1820 as part of a measure initiated by the royal government to promote beach fishing along the entire Usedom coast. In the beginning, they served as sealing storage for tax-free rock salt supplied by the state. During the herring fishing season, the herring was salted and packed in these huts under state supervision. Today, some of the huts are still used by the local fishermen, and there is also a restaurant and a souvenir shop here. Since 2006, Koserow, together with its neighbouring communities Zempin, Loddin and Ückeritz, has presented itself under the title "Usedom Amber Spas".
