We especially liked the location near the harbor and the diverse pedestrian gastronomy (special recommendation: the harbor hotel "Zum kleinen Leuchtturm" and the "Räucherschiff Berta" for very good fish sandwiches). We also liked how lively the place is - with a crafts market, live music on Wednesday evenings, and the harbor festival "Fier op Pier" - without being overcrowded by tourists. This way, we could enjoy the tranquility of the place on the balcony in the evening. A special experience was the trip to the island of Vilm. It was also nice to quickly engage in conversation with many islanders and experience a sympathetic need to communicate. However, one may also learn, without asking, that a craftsperson from Lauterbach considers the conservationists on Vilm to be "parasites" sabotaging the fishing industry. We especially liked the apartment's balcony with a harbor view - although a harbor view unfortunately did not also mean a view of the water.

Very nice, large, bright, and modern furnished apartment. Several restaurants and fish stalls right outside the door as well as a small harbor. Unfortunately, no shopping opportunities for souvenirs, clothing, etc., and also no "evening entertainment." Lauterbach is a very small, quiet place. Supermarket can be reached by car in 2 minutes. 5 minutes by car to the beach in Neuendorf. This one has a narrow sandy section with an adjacent meadow (perfect for those who don't like lying in the sand). The parking strip is directly adjacent to the park strip, so you can be at the car in 10 seconds :-) The water slopes gently with a few algae, but that's normal and really not excessive. Overall, we really liked it in Lauterbach. Don't expect entertainment right on your doorstep. But those who prefer a quiet location at their place of residence and are willing to tolerate a 15-30 minute drive for everything else, will find themselves very well accommodated here.
