The view of the imposing vegetation of the evergreen valley, in the direction of the Ligurian coast or, on the other side, the mountainous landscape up to the Passo del Ginestro, which connects the provinces of Imperia and Savona, is best enjoyed from the spacious, sunny roof terrace.
The well-known towns of Alassio and Laigueglia, which are best known for their extensive sandy beaches and historic town centre, are only 18 km away.
The comfortable house built in the Ligurian style offers with approx. 150 sqm enough space for the whole family. A garden and a large roof terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding woods, are the centrepieces of the house.
The lovingly built country house extends over 3 floors and has 2 separate bedrooms, 1 dining room, 1 bright, spacious living room as well as 1 further kitchen/living room with direct access to the terrace.
Take time out and let the stress of everyday life rest for a while. Arrive and feel at home!
Room layout:
The ground floor consists of a rustic living/dining area with direct views and access to the private garden with barbecue facilities and the small fully equipped kitchen with gas stove/oven. In the dining room there is a modern pellet stove.
Separated by a door you reach the first cosy bedroom with a queen size bed (140x200) as well as a sofa bed (140x200).
A separate spacious bathroom with shower/WC and washing machine is also located on the ground floor.
Due to the hillside location, the main entrance is on the upper floor. This consists of another bedroom with a double bed (180x200) with an unobstructed view of the endless expanse of the valley and a spacious living room with an additional two-seater sofa bed (140x200). The ceiling beams, which are several hundred years old and were preserved and lovingly renovated during the renovation, create a special atmosphere.
A Swedish stove provides a cosy ambience on cooler evenings. You will also find the second smaller bathroom with shower/WC here.
The real highlight is in the attic: a lounge with integrated kitchen and a south-facing terrace of approx. 25 m². From here you can enjoy an unbelievable, almost 360 degree view all the way to the Passo del Ginestro. Whether it's an extensive breakfast or an atmospheric dinner - a panoramic oasis that invites you to linger.
The house also offers a small but beautiful garden accessible from the kitchen. For our guests who are enthusiastic about cycling, there is a large bicycle cellar with electricity connection.
By preserving the existing massive ceiling beams in combination with natural stone walls, the original rustic atmosphere has been maintained.
When should we come?
The most popular time is of course between April and the end of October. Due to the Mediterranean climate on the coast, bathing until October is not uncommon. However, the best time to travel always depends on the individual holiday plans - depending on whether a beach holiday, an active holiday or a cultural trip is planned. We will be happy to advise you!

Shopping + gastronomy:
In the village of Casanova Lerrone, 3 km away, you can find everything for basic needs as well as a pharmacy and 2 small bars.
The gastronomic highlight is definitely the Ristorante Pinocchio in the neighbouring village. Fresh Ligurian cuisine packed into about 20 courses at a more than fair price. You should definitely pack a big appetite for this visit!
You'll find fantastic pizza at "Ristorante Frantoio" in Garlenda. If you're looking for quaint, local and incredibly delicious Italian cuisine, don't miss Tre Porcellini in the small town of Ligo. Also recommended as a stopover on the numerous cycling tours!
If you are planning a larger purchase, you will find it in the numerous supermarkets in Albenga or Alassio.
Sport + Leisure:
+Directly from the house there are countless possibilities for walks or excursions by bike to discover the paths and the natural beauty of the mountains and the inland.
We recommend e-bikes for the mountainous landscape. The small, asphalt roads with their serpentines offer a breathtaking panorama throughout.
+Downhillers and experienced mountain bikers will appreciate the paradise of the world-famous "Finale Ligure", which is only about 30 min. away.
+Enjoyers - cyclists or families with children will get their money's worth on the 24 km long old railway track along the sea between Imperia and San Remo along the Flower Riviera.
+The "Leading course" Garlenda golf course is about 15 minutes away by car.

Beach + Water:
+The seaside resorts on the sandy beaches of Alassio and Laigueglia are particularly popular with families.
If you prefer something a little more natural, our favourite is Zero Beach. Four-legged friends are also welcome at the adjacent Baba Beach.
In the summer months, the beaches in Alassio, Albenga and Imperia also offer a wide range of gastronomic options.

Unique house between the sea and the mountains
Very beautiful and cozy house in a typical village in the mountains behind the Riviera.
You can feel at home in the house right away with the available amenities and have everything you need and plenty of space. Two bathrooms and two refrigerators and two kitchens, what more could you want?!
The rooftop terrace is perfect for cozy hours with a few glasses of wine.
In the small garden, you can also enjoy yourself very well when it’s hot during the day. Parking in the village is not a problem, but you have to go down a small very steep path to the house, it is a bit strenuous when you have a bike rack with three bikes, but it is doable!
Super bike cellar is under the house.
To the beaches it takes about half an hour, to Passo Ginestro with great hikes 10 minutes, to the high mountains at the French border (Monte Saccarello) about one and a half hours drive through beautiful villages.
You can also eat well in the neighboring villages! The communication with Mr. Rueff was excellent before and during the stay.

The origin was the "bare walls". Time to take a break and leave the stress of everyday life behind. This is what fascinates us most about Degna. You arrive and feel comfortable and free! A beautifully renovated stone house built into the hillside in the middle of the Ligurian mountains, surrounded by olive groves and pine forests. Especially hikers, mountain bikers (uphill or downhill) and nature lovers will appreciate the area. But beach lovers will also get their money's worth on the Ligurian coast.
