Dornum is a tranquil coastal town with old lanes, pretty buildings and a historic market square. The baroque moated castle, the Beninga Castle and St Bartholomew's Church still bear witness to the former "Herrlichkeit Dornum", when this was the seat of East Frisian chieftains.
All relevant facilities for daily life such as shops, banks, doctors, pharmacies and pubs can be found directly in the village. Dornum is particularly conveniently situated for transport links to the coastal resorts of Neßmersiel and Dornumersiel. You can reach the beaches in about 7 minutes by car. From Neßmersiel you can take the ferry to the island of Baltrum.
Dornum offers the possibility for many eventful excursions by bike or by car to explore the beautiful East Frisia and to get to know the country and its people.
