Description
Whoever books “ievers” chooses an extraordinary holiday home full of charm and character. The lovingly renovated Frisian holiday church combines historical flair with modern comfort and, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, offers space for up to ten adults. Thanks to the accessible facilities, all guests feel welcome here.
The entrance is located in the old church tower, whose clock has been showing the time since 1537. Inside, you will find a spacious yet cozy church hall with a modern kitchen, large dining table, stylish sitting area, and the historic pulpit as a special eye-catcher.
Via the impressive staircase – naturally also with a stair lift – you reach the comfortable living room with a huge sofa, TV, and high-quality sound system. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Frisian landscape. The four tastefully furnished bedrooms are distributed between the historic church section and the modern extension. All rooms have their own washbasin with hot and cold water. The high-quality double beds can be flexibly converted into comfortable single beds—without any bothersome gap between them. For families, children's beds and high chairs are also available free of charge. Thanks to underfloor heating, "ievers" is pleasantly warm in winter, while the house stays wonderfully cool in summer. The good insulation, solar system, and heat pump make your stay especially sustainable. Additionally, together with Trees for All, we plant a tree for every booking.
Around the holiday church, a large garden with several terraces, fruit trees, and plenty of space to relax invites you to linger. Whether sun or shade – everyone will find their favorite spot here. Special highlights include the centuries-old pulpit, the artistic carvings of the prince’s seat, and the impressive church organ. The unique atmosphere is complemented by changing art objects from the Galerie de Vis, so there is something new to discover with every visit.

Location and surroundings of object
In and around Easterwierrum
Oosterwierum (Easterwierrum in Frisian) is a small village in 'de Greidhoeke', the heart of Friesland. From ievers, most of the Frisian 11 towns are within easy reach. Sneek, Franeker, Harlingen, Dokkum, Leeuwarden and Sloten are all gems and well worth a visit.
Near Iievers lies the river Zwette, famous in the Netherlands for the Elfstedentocht, a 200 km long ice skating race that passes 11 historic towns. A branch of this river, the Dille, flows into a small harbour in the heart of the village.
On a hill near the village is the hamlet of Tsjerkebuorren with its beautiful medieval church tower. From the ievers you can reach the tower within a quarter of an hour's walk across the pastures.
Oosterwierum is an ideal starting point for walks and/or bicycle rides. Along the ievers runs the Jabikspaad, a 2700 kilometre pilgrimage route that runs from the Frisian Sint Jacobiparochie to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

| The basic price is for 6 persons. For each additional person we charge a surcharge of 75 € per stay. The price shown may differ slightly from the price we charge due to the surcharge for additional persons. We do not charge rent for children up to 2 years old. In fact, for them we have a camp bed (with bed linen) and a high chair (maximum 2 cots) free of charge. Our prices are inclusive of: Visitor's tax, final cleaning, bed linen, towels, tea towels and kitchen towels as well as the use of free wifi and 10 bicycles are included in the price. There are also basic spices, dishwasher tabs and toilet paper. In this case, it would be desirable that the stock is replenished for the next guests. There is a filter coffee machine and a Senseo. |
Cancellation terms:
The rental agreement can not be cancelled. The tenant will remain fully liable for the agreed rent. In case the tenant fails, for whatever reason, to occupy De Kraak van Van Dam, the landlord is willing to offer some assistance in finding another, suitable substitute tenant. The landlord will, in case a new substitute tenant is found, as yet balance the original rent with the already received amount of rent. Any holiday cancellation insurance has to be taken out by the tenant him/herself.

Holiday home Iever is easily accessible for many people with disabilities. But as much as we wish, unfortunately we cannot provide everyone with the facilities he or she needs.
Assistance dogs are of course welcome. Call us or send us an email if you rely on your assistance dog and would like to bring him or her.
We do our best to offer everyone a stay as pleasant as possible, with lots of love. If you wish, we can also request home support for you from 'Thuiszorg Zuidwest Friesland' (outpatient care service) and the 'Hilfsmittelzentrum'.
If you need aids during your stay, such as a hoist or a shower trolley, we can arrange this for you. We will then contact the HMC (Hilfsmittelzentrum) for you.

Perfect relaxation in an authentically renovated church: in the middle of the beautiful Frisian landscape.
We were two befriended families with children who spent a week in this beautifully renovated church building - and we found it fantastic and an unforgettable experience! The spacious accommodation amidst the Frisian countryside was both modern and authentic. What we liked most was the space it provided for our two families and the places for our children to explore, both in the church and in the large garden. The view over the Frisian landscape is simply magnificent.
The central location proved to be perfect for exploring the small historic towns like Sneek, Stavooren, and Hindelopen, which have retained their authentic charm and are not overrun by tourists. Moreover, it is not far by car to the Ijselmeer, the Wadden Sea, and we even made a day trip to the Frisian island of Terschelling. When we come back next time, we will probably spend even more days just in the church, with its great kitchen and central hall and table to play board games or watch a movie with all of us on the huge couch.

Warm and inviting
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly hostess. Above all, we were looking forward to the view from the living room over the green fields. And we got what we had hoped for, the cows and horses of the farmer grazed there next to the house. In the distance, a small train passed by silently. The peace and quiet of the countryside.

Really everything perfect!!
The church is located in a small village.
Everything is very clean and nicely furnished.
Beautiful views around the church with great walking opportunities.
There are also some details left of how it used to be a real church.
Everything is of good quality and well-maintained. The children had many opportunities to play, both inside and outside.
Fishing for Frisian pike is also possible.
It was our second visit to Ievers and we will definitely come back again.
Very warm welcome from Hinke. She was very helpful.
Also highly recommended for people with disabilities.
