The Tauber Sonnen Lodge is an exceptional 5-star vacation home for 2–4 people in idyllic Hochhausen, a district of Tauberbischofsheim. This modern, solid-wood house was built on top of a spacious garage. As a result, you’ll enjoy an elevated, peaceful location with a beautiful view of the small town square. Right outside the front door, biking and hiking trails wind through the picturesque Tauber Valley—ideal for a relaxing biking, active, or wellness vacation.
Living & Sleeping
Inside, the Sonnen Lodge combines modern design with plenty of wood and a warm, high-quality, cozy atmosphere. Two separate bedrooms make the vacation home ideal for families or two couples. The master bedroom features a comfortable double bed (180x200 cm), while the second bedroom has two single beds (90x200 cm each). Two bathrooms provide extra comfort, especially for four guests.
The spacious living area, featuring a large, comfortable couch, a flat-screen TV, and a Bose hi-fi system, is the perfect place to unwind after a bike ride, hike, or a visit to the sauna.
Kitchen & Culinary Delights
The high-quality Nolte kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher and a fully automatic coffee machine. Coffee, milk, spices, and other kitchen essentials are provided. As a small welcome gesture, you’ll find sparkling wine and non-alcoholic beverages waiting for you. A beautiful dining table, high-quality tableware, and wine glasses make even a cozy evening at home a delight.
Private Sauna & Large Sun Terrace
The special highlight is the spacious rooftop terrace, partially covered with glass. Here you’ll find lounge furniture, a parasol, an outdoor shower, and a Weber gas grill. The private sauna inside the wooden barrel turns the Sonnen Lodge into a small, private wellness retreat—a wonderful place to relax after an active day, no matter the season. A true treat.
Perfect for cyclists and nature lovers
The lodge is located right on the popular “Der Klassiker” bike trail through the picturesque Tauber Valley. Bicycles, e-bikes, and bike racks can be safely stored in the large garage; e-bikes can be conveniently charged there. There’s also room for your car in the garage. Directly across the street is access to the Tauber River—ideal if, for example, you bring your own stand-up paddleboard or rent one from us.
An in-house washer and dryer make even longer stays comfortable. The Tauber Sonnen Lodge is accessible via a staircase with 25 steps and is therefore not wheelchair accessible.

The Hochhausen district of Tauberbischofsheim is located right on the Tauber River, making it ideal for hiking, biking, and water sports on the river.
Guests can rent bicycles and e-bikes at Zweirad Schunder, located just about 5 km away. Bikes from the Taubertal bike rental service can even be conveniently delivered and picked up. During peak season, online reservations are recommended.

There are outdoor swimming pools 5 km away in Wenkheim (25-meter lane) and in Tauberbischofsheim (33.33-meter lane, slides, and diving platform).
For wellness enthusiasts, Solymar Therme in Bad Mergentheim (25 km) is worth a day trip.
The gastronomy in Hochhausen and the neighboring areas offers regional broom taverns, traditional cuisine, beer gardens, as well as Italian and Croatian cuisine. Shopping options: supermarkets E-Center, Lidl, Aldi, and dm (about 4km away). Sunday rolls approximately 5 km away at Genußwolke 7 towards Tauberbischofsheim highway entrance or at the Café/Baker in the Edeka market in Wenkheim.
Warehouse Geier in the village sells agricultural products: flour, pasta, spelt, vinegar, canned sausage, schnapps etc. – ideal for gifts from the region. Unique experiences:

Try gliding: Directly on the hill at the location, gliders from the Aerosport Club Tauberbischofsheim e. V. take off in good thermal conditions. Just go there and view the world from above for a small fee.
