Description
Holiday in the middle of the Harz mountains in our newly built holiday home in spring 2021.
The house is in a quiet location on the south-facing slope above the Stieger Teichen. The access is directly via the B242 and the forest borders only 20m behind the house. Fortunately, there are very extensive beech and mixed forest stands here, which are not so affected by the forest dieback in the Harz region and the resulting forest conversion. There are 2 new holiday houses on the 2000m² site, which can be booked individually or together. Outside the houses there are 2 carports with space for 3 cars or several motorbikes, an extra fenced area with a playground for the little ones and an area where the barbecue kota is located and fire in the fire bowl is possible. Everyone who has ever sat in a Grill Kota knows its advantages. Especially in bad weather, you can spend the evenings there with up to 10 people, cosy and warm. Here, the barbecue season never ends, even in winter.
House 1 is the larger of the two houses with 99m² and built according to the latest energy standards. The triple glazing of the windows is not only good for energy efficiency, i.e. heating costs. When they are closed, it is so quiet that you sometimes oversleep in the morning. (that's what happened to us during testing). Further structural cornerstones are the 20 cm wall insulation, 22 cm roof insulation and everything heated by underfloor heating, connected to an air-water heat pump. Of course, the heat pump is also used to heat the hot water. (During our test week we had outside temperatures of 5° day and -6° night and came to a complete energy demand, with cooking, showering, 3x bathing and heating of approx. 35 Euros)
Despite all the energy efficiency, there is a wood-burning stove in the house for those who like it a bit romantic
The house has a large living area with an open modern design kitchen. Both with a great view of the Harz landscape through the large glass fronts. Even bad weather can look good when the rain showers pass over the landscape. In winter, of course, it's even better when it snows. In good weather you can open the doors and use the completely fenced 70m² southern terrace as an extension of the living area. To the north, accessible from the living area or the first bedroom, is the second terrace of the house. Here you can also escape when the sun is too good. But of course also in any other weather. Here you can not only enjoy the shade from midday onwards, but also take a sauna on cold (or warm) days. Even nicer, in our opinion, is the large hot tub with V2A wood stove, GRP insert and blower. It's fun even in the worst weather and there's nothing better on starry nights below zero with a bottle of champagne in the snow. (A little tip: from -15 and no wind, there are no more stars. The water vapour gives you more the feeling of sitting in a warm fog. So it's better not to chill your champagne so far away in the snow)
In the large bathroom of the house there is a large ground-level shower, a double washbasin, a bathtub with blower and massage, WC and a washing machine. In the small bathroom, washbasin and WC.
The two bedrooms are 14m² each, one with a double bed and double patio door, the other with two single beds. The beds all have very good spring mattresses.
Oh, and if the topic is that he likes to watch football and she prefers something intelligent, there is a large Smart TV in the living area and a smaller one in each of the bedrooms.
A quick word for the smokers among the guests. The houses themselves are non-smoking. The property is not, and in bad weather you can also use the barbecue kota, where it always smells of smoke from the last fire
Up to two dogs are allowed in our houses. However, dog liability insurance is a prerequisite and must be compulsory
The bottom line is that the houses are both new and we have made every effort. Since the time of completion was in the middle of the third wave of Corona (hopefully the last), we had time to test everything ourselves. But if we should have missed something, something is missing or something has to be changed, our house is located below the holiday homes. So no problem at all.

The extensive forests invite you to go hiking and there are several forest restaurants.
Close to the holiday homes, about 300m away, is Stieger Castle. Here you can order coffee with freshly baked cakes within the old walls. And of course a beer or two. The castle owners from the Netherlands have furnished everything in a very cosy way and you immediately feel welcome due to the cordiality. But beware, the high-proof beer that Rene the castle owner likes to offer should be enjoyed slowly and wait to see how it works.
Pullman City is of course an absolute must for all Western fans. The many show car events, motorbike and quad meetings and other events are always interesting.
In winter, you can either use the cross-country ski trails in the neighbouring village of Hasselfelde or Friedrichsbrunn, or on the other side of the pond, a toboggan slope, on the Mühlberg.
Of course, there are also the ponds. You can go fishing or rowing here. Officially, bathing is prohibited, as is the case everywhere in Germany (no open-air swimming pools). But you don't really notice that on warm summer days.

Thank you very much for the lovely vacation week.
We found time to enjoy all the great amenities of this vacation apartment despite many hikes: hot tub, sauna, whirlpool bathtub, grill kota, and wood stove.

11 days of vacation in the beautiful Harz
We recently spent 11 days as guests with the Klapproth family in Stiege and stayed in the larger of the two vacation apartments. The vacation apartment was very clean, in new condition, and equipped with everything a holiday heart could desire. The highlight was, of course, the hot tub, the sauna, and the possibility of grilling on site. The location of the vacation apartment was perfect for us because we did a lot of hiking. But a detour to the Witches' Dance Floor in Thale or Pullman City (Western town) was also quickly accessible from the holiday apartment. Mr. and Mrs. Klapproth helped us greatly with minor questions or any issues on-site and were also super friendly. Therefore, we can unreservedly recommend a stay here and would like to thank the Klapproth family once again for the wonderful days.

Wonderful and relaxed
I fully agree with the evaluation of the predecessors
We stayed in house 1 with 3 people at the end of August. Mr Klapproth and his wife were very accommodating, so we were able to occupy the holiday flat before 3pm.
We had a lovely, relaxed holiday. However, the range of surrounding sights and hiking opportunities was not manageable for our holiday time, this calls for a repeat.

Relaxing holiday in the Harz Mountains
Wonderful, clean and cosy holiday home in the Harz mountains. With two bedrooms and a very large living room, there is enough space for 4 people to spend evenings together. With a sauna and a hot tub, which are protected from view, it is also very good to relax. In addition, there is a very large terrace to enjoy the sun. For cold days, there is also a stove indoors and a TV in each room. The table tennis table and a barbecue house in front of the holiday home are also attractive. Bringing our dog was also no problem
We got the wood for the barbecue, the stove or the hot tub immediately from the landlords for a small fee. Mrs and Mr Klapproth are very helpful and totally friendly
The surrounding area offers some attractions like the Brocken, stalactite caves, hiking trails and nice little towns that can be reached by car. There is covered parking for the cars.
We would love to come back and can highly recommend the holiday homes.

Very good holiday home
This house is super equipped. You have everything you need. The landlords are super nice and helpful. The place is very quiet, just as described, which is great for unwinding. Direct access to the woods at the back for hiking. Great overall package. Would love to come back. Best regards.
