Katwijk-Top, Apartment-Flop
We were there for a week. Four adults and two small children. The good thing about the house is its central location on a side street. You can quickly get to the beach and quickly get to the center. The equipment is quite extensive, although some things in the kitchen need to be replaced and exchanged. For example, the pans. They are so scratched that they can no longer be used in good conscience. Most of the utensils were not really clean either. We washed everything we used first. And that is already the biggest flaw; cleanliness. It was absolutely not present. Nothing had been dusted, and there were still stains on many surfaces. Especially in the bathroom, for example, on the drawer handles and the sink. The floor was sandy and not cleaned, especially not under the beds (you can tell when you push the two single beds together) or the sofa. It's better not to look too closely there. We found some sand molds, probably from the previous guests, and on the windowsill a dried basil plant in a plastic pot. It doesn't look nice either. All in all, this hasn't contributed to a feeling of comfort, especially when you want to clean up and feel like everything is still as the previous guests left it. It's certainly not pleasant when there are children crawling around. We also complained. There was no apology, but supposedly someone came to do a touch-up. However, we didn’t notice anything.
Since the landlord sends a long list of rules of conduct when booking the house, one should expect that there is also a certain standard in return, but that is not the case. All in all, it's frustrating when you look forward to a vacation and pay a considerable amount for the accommodation. Conclusion: Katwijk is beautiful and perfect for a family vacation, but I cannot recommend the accommodation.
