EL MAR – the sea. Matching up to the name, the property is in a particularly splendid location and the construction is well thought out. The house is in a unique location, directly above the sea with a fantastic view across the Messenian Bay, the turquoise blue water and the surrounding green landscape. The well-maintained holiday apartment EL MAR is in a slight hillside location above the Gargarou beach. The holiday apartment is on elevated ground floor (approx. 15 steps). The apartment in the basement is used by the owner family.
EL MAR is a comfortably furnished holiday apartment on a terraced property with a fantastic sea view. The holiday apartment is tastefully furnished and thoughtfully designed in all aspects and thus ideal for an unclouded holiday at the sea. Adjoining to the eat-in kitchen are two bedrooms with celeing fan and the shared bath. From the living room you have direct access to the sea-facing side of the circumferential terrace with arcade arches. Voice of a customer: “this sea view is absolutely addictive”. We can only confirm this statement. You see nothing but the blue sea and from time to time a sailboat sailing along the Messenian coast.
From a second terrace at the side of the kitchen corner, you can access the roof top terrace via an external staircase. Here you have a splendid panoramic view across the bay and the surrounding Messenian landscape. This holiday apartment is ideal for all guests seeking nothing but tranquility and the sea. Just a few steps from the terraced property and you reach the narrow, almost private beach below the house.
The beautiful fine sandy beach of Peroulia is in walking distance, approx. 500m along the narrow beach in northern direction. This beach is ideal for bathing and relaxing. 500m further down the beach there is a beach bar with sunbeds and parasols and also a tavern.
The close-by picturesque village Koroni with its port scenery, taverns and cafés make a nice change from the quiet location of Gargarou. Especially charming are also the towns of Pylos and Methoni on the western side of Messenia.
On the coastline between Koroni and Pylos you will find many further pristine sandy beaches.

It is higly recomended that there shoud be some kind of road signs on the way from Charakopio villadge to to the house and not just the coordinates provided by you. Everything else excellent.

Wunderschöne ruhige (abgelegene) Lage am Meer. Sehr gut eingerichtet. Wir waren bereits zum 4. Mal hier. Sehr angenehm: WLAN-Empfang (gab es im Sept. 2017 noch nicht)

Das Haus EL MAR liegt traumhaft, direkt am türkisblauem Meer. Ich vergebe allerdings nur 4 Sterne (Bewertung gut) aufgrund des sehr schmalen Strands. Dieser ist für Kinder nur bedingt geeignet.

It was a wonderful stay in a great location. It is the perfect place if you are looking for peace and relaxation and want to enjoy the fantastic view over the sea. Walks and bike rides, preferably with an e-bike, through the surroundings were also beautiful. The apartment was well furnished, the terrace hard to beat. Hopefully, we were not there for the last time.

House El Mar can be recommended with a clear conscience. It was very clean and everything worked perfectly. The apartment was very nice and located in a quiet area. The hosts live in the same house and were very friendly; but they only speak Greek! The beach is quickly accessible, but quite rocky and not very visually appealing. A car is absolutely necessary as almost nothing is within walking distance. Note for the driver: The arrival plan from Jassu is misleading, as some of the information is incorrect. It is best to inquire at the gas station on the main road.

We have known the house and the area for a long time, almost feel at home there, that speaks for itself... However, the Fotopoulos family should maybe leave some information about waste disposal - apparently there is now also waste separation in Messinia, plastic waste is separated (and then taken to Italy by ship). It would also be advisable to descale the showerhead inside. It was wonderful again, we would love to come back!!

We spent 12 years at the Saga Strand and were always satisfied. However, this house exceeded our expectations in terms of location. The remote location may not be acceptable for everyone, but the peace and beauty make up for it completely!

EL MAR is a dream! Away from the tourist hustle and bustle, we spent a wonderful week there. Fantastic terrace with a fantastic view of the sea. Just a few meters to the beach, which is very narrow and therefore not suitable for sunbathers. It was perfect for us, as we made our day trips from Gargarou and enjoyed a swim in the sea and dinner on the terrace after returning. The rental unit itself is optimal for two people, a bit tight for the four of us overall. But it didn't really bother us, as you spend most of your time outdoors anyway. The landlords Dimitra and Georgios are rather reserved (they speak only a few words of English or German), but extremely hospitable and lovable people. Despite the language barrier, we got along great, and on the last night, we even went out to eat together and had a great time. We will not forget EL MAR alone because we found a new family member there: Max, a young, sweet mixed-breed dog who could no longer stay with the landlords' daughter in Athens and seemed to have been waiting just for us. We will gladly come back!

A beautiful residence right by the sea with a magnificent view. A beautiful 1.5 km long sandy beach with easy access to the sea. Communication with the nice landlord couple is unfortunately only possible in Greek.

: Once you've found the house, which requires some extra time during your arrival, you won't want to leave. Everything is very carefully furnished and equipped, and the sea view is addictive. However, not suitable for people who want to spend their whole day at the beach and have taverns etc. around the corner. Secluded and idyllic, the Greek-speaking landlords are very friendly and reserved. Very small beach under the house, easily accessible on foot. For those seeking peace and love of the sea.

It was a wonderful stay in a great located accommodation. It is exactly the right place if you are looking for peace and relaxation and want to enjoy the fantastic view over the sea. Walking and cycling tours, preferably with an e-bike, were also beautiful through the surroundings. The apartment was well furnished, the terrace hardly surpassed. Hopefully we were not there for the last time.

The landlords live in the same house and were very friendly; however, they only speak Greek! The beach is easy to reach, but quite stony and not very nice to look at. A car is absolutely necessary as there is almost nothing to reach on foot. Note for the driver: The journey plan from Jassu is misleading, as the information is partly wrong. It is best to get information at the petrol station on the main road.

EL MAR is a dream!
Away from the tourist hustle and bustle, we spent a wonderful week there. Fantastic terrace with a fantastic sea view. Only a few metres to the beach, which is very narrow and therefore not for sun worshippers. It was ideal for us, as we made our day trips from Gargarou and enjoyed cooling off in the sea and dinner on the terrace after returning.
The rental unit itself is optimal for two people, for the four of us it was a bit cramped overall. But that doesn't really bother us, since we only stay outside anyway.
The landlords Dimitra and Georgios are rather reserved (they speak only a few words of English and German respectively), but extremely hospitable and lovely people. Despite the language barrier, we got on very well and on the last evening we even went out for dinner together and had great fun.
We will never forget EL MAR, if only because we found a new family member there: Max, a young, sweet mongrel dog who could no longer stay with the landlords' daughter in Athens and was apparently just waiting for us.
We will be happy to come back!

Expectations as far as the location is concerned. The remote location is certainly
not acceptable for everyone, but the peace and beauty totally compensates!
