The small half-timbered house in Baiersbronn in the northern Black Forest with barbecue hut and nature garden is ideal for recreational and active holidays: starting point for sports, relaxation, enjoyment and culture. The rear Rußberghaus with typical shingles and red sandstone base has been lovingly renovated and offers two holiday flats with balcony, garden and barbecue hut. There are two holiday flats. The small FeWo Maria and the larger FeWo Rosine can be rented individually or together as one holiday home.
In the rear part of the semi-detached house are the two holiday flats. They are situated on a steep mountain and south-facing slope with a view over Baiersbronn, forest and meadows. Tours can start from the house, on foot, by bike, mountain bike, by car or train. The train station and town centre are within sight and a 20-minute walk away. The steep access is via small, narrow lanes. Parking is available on the property. Drivers should find hill starts and turning in a small area quite feasible. Restaurants, breakfast cafés and shops are within easy walking distance. Due to the proximity to the town and the mountain location, the street, church bells and, in summer, the children in Baiersbronn's outdoor swimming pool can be heard on the balcony.
In the nearby surroundings, active holidaymakers can go hiking, biking, trendy sports, climbing, swimming, kite flying, natural minigolf, standup paddling, canoeing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ice skating. The hiking and biking paradise of Baiersbronn has 550 km of hiking trails and 400 km of biking trails, 11 mountain bike trails of all levels. Within walking distance is Baiersbronn's open-air swimming pool, in Mitteltal the natural swimming pool, in Freudenstadt the panorama pool with wellness and adventure slides.
As a nature lover, you will find five karst lakes in Baiersbronn, the Black Forest National Park with visitor centre, nearby the Schwarzenbach dam, the Mummelsee, the waterfalls in Buhlbach and Allerheiligen, spring hiking trails, animals, mountains and natural monuments. For culture and gourmets there are the best restaurants, wellness, monasteries and museums, the Baiersbronn star cuisine also have catered huts without registration. The Sattelei vom Barreis and Traube-Hütte are within walking distance of the house.
For children: Murgel playhouse, wooden adventure trail, water playground, baths, reservoir to dam yourself, bear park. For youngsters: Germany's longest zipline, Mehliskopf summer toboggan run, Experimenta in Freudenstadt, river hiking, rafting, geo-caching, Valley of the Hammers or the fireplace in the garden.
Holiday flat Maria
The small, cosy attic flat Maria (40 sqm) is suitable for 1-4 persons and offers living room, kitchen, daylight bathroom, two bedrooms and balcony.
In the open kitchen you will find a cooker, oven, extractor bonnet, fridge with freezer compartment, sink, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave, bubbler and a fully automatic coffee machine for café, espresso, late macchiato, cocoa. In the living room there is an extendable dining table, sofa/sleeper couch, HD TV and a fireplace with baking tray. The old wooden floorboards from the attic were used to create the kitchen counter and shelves.
The daylight bathroom has shower & toilet, another toilet is in the guest toilet. The attic flat is built into the roof of the half-timbered house. It has its own entrance via a wooden staircase and its own balcony with a beautiful view over Baiersbronn and the forest.
The small bedroom is a so-called alcove (bed cupboard), which used to exist in farmhouses or on ships. The 1.40 m wide and 2 m long double bed is built into the sloping roof. The alcove has a skylight and a sliding door. Further sleeping possibilities are two mattresses side by side, each 90 cm wide and 2 m long, on the floor in the lockable attic and a pull-out sofa bed for 1-2 persons in the living room (1.40 m x 2 m).
From the private balcony you have a wonderful view over the city. It offers additional space in fine weather.
Rudi hut
The Rudi-Hütte in the garden of the Rußberghaus is a small timber-framed house on a sandstone base with a brick barbecue outside and a wood-burning oven inside. It is open to holiday guests free of charge for communal use and self-cleaning.
The barbecue and wood-burning oven are built in the traditional style of Black Forest villages and farmhouses from old standing stones. The barbecue is built on the outside of the hut wall under the canopy so that you can barbecue regardless of the weather. When it rains, the fire stays on and the grill stays dry.
There is room for about 12 people at the table. Equipment: pallet bar, fridge and a small heater. If you have time and leisure, you can bake wood-fired pizzas, bread, tarte flambée, roasts, braised vegetables or roast chickens in the wood-fired oven. Dishes and food can be carried from the holiday flats to the barbecue hut. There is no water connection in the barbecue hut. You have to buy the wood yourself. The hut is only open to guests of the holiday homes.

The two holiday flats, flat Maria and flat Rosine, with Rudi hut are located in the back part of the Rußberghaus: Schiefelgasse 11 in the centre of 72270 Baiersbronn in the northern Black Forest. The front part of the house is Schiefelgasse 9 with the nice neighbours family Blendin with dog
From the house and balcony you have a wonderful view into the forest and over Baiersbronn to the Drachenflugberg and former ski slope Stöckerkopf with the hosted (hut) Glasmännle Hütte. The house is located directly on the large network of hiking routes and mountain bike trails in Baiersbronn. From the Schiefelgasse, the hiking trails lead to the National Park, Rinkenturm, Ellbachsee, Baiersbronner Wanderhimmel and Genusswanderpfade, Westweg, to the Murgleiter and to the hosted huts Sattelei, Traube Hütte, Seidenhof, Darmstädter Hütte, access to the Westweg. In 15 minutes on foot you can reach the railway station, Baiersbronn town centre, playground, outdoor swimming pool or ice rink, shopping facilities and the exit to the Sankenbachsee, Buhlbachsee, Stöckerkopf hang-gliding mountain and the hosted Glasmännlehütte with brewery on the mountain.

Larger holiday flat Rosine
The holiday flat Rosine (70 sqm) is suitable for 2-4, max. 6 persons. It has two small bedrooms, a living and dining area, kitchen, bathroom, guest WC distributed over two floors and a large private sunny balcony.
On the ground floor are the two small, separately lockable bedrooms, one with a double bed (1.60 x 2 m) and one with two bunk beds (each 90 cm x 2 m), the daylight bathroom with shower and washing machine and the separate toilet.
On the first floor there is a living and dining room, a kitchen and a guest toilet. The living room has two sofa beds, HD TV and a fireplace. The dining table can seat up to 8 people. The table can be extended, the two sides are in the shed. More chairs are in the Rudi hut.
In the small, half-open kitchen, everything important is accommodated to the centimetre: 4-plate cooker, oven, extractor bonnet, refrigerator with freezer compartment, sink, dishwasher, fully automatic coffee machine for cappuccino, espresso, latte macchiatto, cocoa, kettle, bubbler. Although small, the kitchen is well equipped: kitchen scales, hand blender, hand mixer, casserole dish, spätzlespresse, cookbooks. The kitchen buffet is in the dining room, the storage cupboard in the hallway.
The 28 sqm wooden balcony with seating area, parasol and deck chair extends from the living and dining area. From your own balcony you have a wonderful view over the city. It offers additional space in fine weather.
The house
Grandma Rosine Rothfuß was born here in the Rußberghaus in 1900. The grandchildren renovated the back part according to ecological and historical aspects. Old combined with new. In memory of Rosine, Maria, Rudi, 2 holiday flats and the Rudi hut were created. The grandchildren live in Sindelfingen and rent by mobile phone & mail. Very nice neighbours with a dog live in the front part.
The typical old building is winding, has small rooms with many windows, wooden floors, open half-timbering and a special charm. The renovation of the over 100 year old half of the house was carried out according to energetic, ecological and historical aspects. The roof was thermally insulated and slatted to save space, the roof of the Rudi hut and stone bars for animals in the garden were created from the old tiles, the new insulated windows and front door were made according to old patterns, and the interior furnishings are either historical furniture or new furnishings in retro or country house style.
During the renovation, local woods, e.g. Douglas fir from Germany, as well as granite and sandstone from the Black Forest were used. The old building elements were preserved or restored. The renovation saved the rear part of the house from decay and made a permanent use of the vacant building possible again after 40 years.

Cozy small vacation apartment with great amenities.
The vacation apartment was exactly as described in the advertisement. The furnishings and equipment showed that there was a family connection to the house and not just a commercial landlord behind it. The apartment is very lovingly furnished. The kitchen equipment is above average - great coffee maker, dishwasher, stove and additionally all kitchen appliances/dishes that you could need. The landlord Norbert had good tips and was available at all times for questions/problems. On the balcony you can have a nice breakfast/dinner with a great view.

Fine little attic
A wonderfully quaint and cosy little domicile that offers many thoughtful details to discover and enjoy. Every niche was cleverly used in the furnishings, and we really wanted for nothing. Whether the view from the kitchen window over Baiersbronn with your morning coffee, dinner on the balcony, or an evening around the campfire, this is a successful template for a relaxing holiday. The hosts are very friendly and obliging, excursion tips and perfect preparation for the stay are included. However, tall people should watch their heads in the attic flat.
