Neukalen is located directly on the beautiful river Peene, which flows just a few kilometers further into Lake Kummerow. The small town was first mentioned as Altkalen in 1174 and has been called Neukalen since 1306. Accordingly, you will find historical sights such as the circular settlement planning in the old town or the parish church of St. John from the year 1318.
