The hunting lodge Siedlinghausen was built in 1858 by Baron von Fürstenberg. The hunting lodge is located about three kilometres from the town centre at the foot of the Steinberg (713 m) on the L742 between Siedlinghausen and Schmallenberg-Rehsiepen along the river Negro. The nobility house has always been important to Siedlinghausen. After taking over the estate around 1370, the Gaugreben family built a country house / castle at this location. The estate remained in the hands of the van Gaugreben family until 1657, after which it passed into the hands of Caspar Christian Vogt van Elspe by inheritance. In 1810, the estate was put up for sale to the municipality, but this did not materialise. Baron Friedrich Leopold von Fürstenberg then took care of the whole thing and in 1858 he built the hunting lodge that was then in use. The main building was demolished and rebuilt in 1966. The side wing, the stables, the coachman's house and the ice cellar behind the house are still there, and a weapon with the year 1858 is also attached to the stables.

Location and surroundings of object

Siedlinghausen is a quiet village, at an altitude of about 470 meters between the hills of the Sauerland and about 10 kilometers from the famous winter sports resort Winterberg. In the centre there are various shops (bakery, supermarket, pharmacy, banks and tourist office), restaurants and petrol pumps. The same applies to an outdoor and indoor swimming pool and tennis courts. Siedlinghausen is situated in the Neger valley, the Neger river. It comes from the Rothaargebirge mountains on the Klappersberg ( m) at an altitude of 722 m. The first village in the Neger catchment area is Siedlinghausen. Another small river flows in this small village with the remarkable name Namenlose (Lamelofe). It originates northwest of Winterberg and with a length of km is the longest tributary of the Negro. The two rivers meet in the centre of Siedlinghausen. In spring and autumn and certainly in summer there is so much to do in Siedlinghausen and its surroundings that there is only a small choice: the larger (tourist) towns of Winterberg and Willingen, in the northeast (the medieval Brilon) west of Schmallenberg, south of Hallenberg, Frankenberg and Marburg. In Winterberg, the Bike Arena with about 1,400 km ( of) mountain bikers is well known. Varied downhill, cross-country and cross-country skiing routes, the Panorama Erlebnis Brücke, the climbing forest, a summer toboggan run, a 9-hole golf course, a mini-golf course, a go-kart track, bowling and paintball as well as the Winterberg salt grotto for wellness and physical well-being. In Niedersfeld, just outside Winterberg, there is an outdoor go-cart track. In Schmallenberg there is an 18-hole golf course. The amusement park Fort Fun Abenteuerland is located in Bestwig. Water skiing is possible at the Hillebach lake. You can also go horse riding, paragliding, camping, inline skating on the Biggemeer, bat safari. In Attendorn is the Atta cave, the largest connected (drip) cave system in Germany. Hikers and cyclists also have many possibilities in the area around Winterberg. The Rothaarsteig, for example, is one of the many and longest hiking trails that lead through Winterberg. The km long Winterberger Hochtour can be started directly behind the house. The hunting lodge Siedlinghausen is even mentioned here as one of the 11 sights! There are also many other signposted routes. The sporty mountain biker can enjoy one of the downhill routes in the Bikepark Winterberg. The Lenneroute is a beautiful cycling route that starts at the source of the Lenne and takes you through the landscape with the river. For more than 140 km the route takes you past three nature reserves: the Rothaarsteig, the Homert nature park and the Ebbe mountains. In winter there are several beautiful winter sports areas in the Siedlinghausen region. Not only Winterberg (10 km), with a total of 40 kilometres of pistes ranging from "easy to difficult", but also the Altastenberg ski area (7 km) with 7 pistes is easy to ski and additionally Willingen with another 18 kilometres of pistes at 28 km intervals is worth a visit. Winterberg Situated in North Rhine-Westphalia at an altitude of 670 metres, many Dutch people find it at the winter sports resort, the well-known holiday resort of Winterberg. But Winterberg is not only a great place to celebrate your winter holidays. It is also a beautiful place in summer. The centre with the beautiful market square, where restaurants, cafés and shops form the heart of the town, ends in a long shopping street. There is also a supermarket in the centre and just outside the centre there is a petrol station, a DIY store and a McDonalds. In winter, Winterberg is ideal for winter sports near the Netherlands. The relatively good snow guarantee (Winterberg has many snow cannons) offers the perfect opportunity for a (short) winter sports holiday. You can reach the destination by car within two hours from the Dutch border. Winterberg has 34 ski runs, spread over 7 mountains. Some of them are floodlit and can therefore also be skied in the evening. Around the 841 meter high Kahler Asten is a beautiful cross-country skiing area with no less than 120 km of tracks. The après-ski in Winterberg is of course in good hands.

Beautiful holiday flat

My family had a wonderful time in the large, stylish and perfectly equipped holiday flat on the ground floor. They were even able to go skiing! The location is perfect, a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Winterberg, but still close enough to all the important things. Clear recommendation!
